A mono-energetic peak was observed, which is interpreted as the formation of a new kind of neutral tribaryon S0(3115) with isospin T=1 and strangeness S=−1. Preparation and Properties of Inverse Perovskite Mn3GaN Thin Films and Heterostructures
H. Tashiro,R. Suzuki,T. Miyawaki,K. Ueda,H. Asano 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.63 No.3
Thin films and heterostructures of Mn3GaN with an inverse perovskite structure were grownepitaxially on SrTiO3 (001) and (La0.18Sr0.82)(Al0.59Ta0.41)O3 (001) (LSAT) substrates by ionbeam sputtering, and their structural and electrical properties have been investigated. Mn3GaNepitaxial thin films showed metallic behavior of temperature-dependent resistivity with a smallmaximum at 290-340 K. The maximum resistivity could be attributed to the magnetic transitionfrom antiferromagnetism to paramagnetism. It has been found that epitaxial heterostructuresformed by ferroelectric Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 and Mn3GaN layers exhibit a large magnetocapacitanceeffect of more than 2000% in an applied magnetic filed of 1.5 T.
STM investigation of porphyrin isomers on metal substrates
T. Terui,T. Kamikado,Y. Okuno,H. Suzuki,S. Mashiko 한국물리학회 2004 Current Applied Physics Vol.4 No.2-4
We performed scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) experiments on mono- or sub-monolayer deposited porphyrin moleculeson metal substrates. We observed substitution-dependent structure changes of the molecules. Obtaining STM images of thestructure and arrangement of functional molecules would contribute valuable information towards creation of nano-molecular-devices. scanning probe microscopy (SPM) shows the greatest potential for reaching this goal, at present. STM is able to obtainimages with nano-meter resolution of molecules on metal surfaces. These high-resolution images reveal the molecular structure andarrangement of the molecules on the surface and contain information about the moleculesubstrate interaction and the moleculemolecule interaction. STM will be useful for the assembly of nano-devices made from molecules on a substrate.
An alternative spliced mouse presenilin-2 mRNA encodes a novel γ-secretase inhibitor

The γ-secretase, composed of presenilin-1 (PS1) or presenilin-2 (PS2), nicastrin (NCT), anterior pharynx-defective phenotype 1 (APH-1), and PEN-2, is critical for the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). PSs are autoproteolytically cleaved, producing an N-terminal fragment (NTF) and a hydrophilic loop domain-containing C-terminal fragment. However, the role of the loop domain in the γ-secretase complex assembly remains unknown. Here, we report a novel PS2 isoform generated by alternative splicing, named PS2β, which is composed of an NTF with a hydrophilic loop domain. PS2β disturbed the interaction between NCT and APH-1, resulting in the inhibition of amyloid-β production. We concluded that PS2β may inhibit γ-secretase activity by affecting the γ-secretase complex assembly. We studied ZnO growth on 3C-SiC(001)/Si(001) templates. In-situ reflection high- energy electron diffraction (RHEED) observations implied that ZnO grown on 3C-SiC(001) had a critical thickness (50 nm). From a structural characterization by using X-ray diffraction, we revealed that ZnO films thinner than the critical thickness grown on 3C-SiC(001) had a [10-11] orientation with 4-fold in-plane symmetry. On the other hand, ZnO films thicker than the critical thickness consisted of [10-11] and [0001] orientations. Also, the portion of [0001] oriented ZnO increased with the layer thickness. Possible interface configurations of ZnO(10-11)/3C-SiC(001) and ZnO(0001)/ZnO(10-11) are suggested.
Electrodeposited Fe-Ni Films Prepared from a Tartaric-acid-based Bath
T. Shimokawa,T. Yanai,K. Takahashi,M. Nakano,H. Fukunaga,K. Suzuki 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.12
Recently, we reported a citric-acid-based plating bath is one of the hopeful plating baths forobtaining Fe-Ni films with good soft magnetic properties. In this report, hydroxylic acid of tartaricacid, which belongs to the same acid group at citric acid, was applied to prepare the films, and theeffects of tartaric acid on the magnetic and the structural properties were investigated. Although theoverall trend of the effects obtained for tartaric acid resembles our previous results for the citricacid-based bath, the cathode efficiency for the tartaric-acid-based bath shows a slightly highervalue as compared with that for the citric-acid-based bath. From these results, we conclude thatthe tartaric-acid-based bath is also an environmentally friendly plating bath.
