        Ependymal Cells Require Anks1a for Their Proper Development

        Ependymal cells constitute the multi-ciliated epithelium, which lines the brain ventricular lumen. Although ependymal cells originate from radial glial cells in the perinatal rodent brain, the exact mechanisms underlying the full differentiation of ependymal cells are poorly understood. In this report, we present evidence that the Anks1a phosphotyrosine binding domain (PTB) adaptor is required for the proper development of ependymal cells in the rodent postnatal brain. Anks1a gene trap targeted LacZ reporter analysis revealed that Anks1a is expressed prominently in the ventricular region of the early postnatal brain and that its expression is restricted to mature ependymal cells during postnatal brain development. In addition, Anks1a-deficient ependymal cells were shown to possess type B cell characteristics, suggesting that ependymal cells require Anks1a in order to be fully differentiated. Finally, Anks1a overexpression in the lateral wall of the neonatal brain resulted in an increase in the number of ependymal cells during postnatal brain development. Altogether, our results suggest that ependymal cells require Anks1a PTB adaptor for their proper development.

        A Study on the CRISIS of Nursing College Students Family Intimacy, Interpersonal Relationship Tendency, and Communication Ability on Self-Leadership

        Purpose: This study was attempted to find out the influencing factors of self-leadership in nursing college students. Method: This study is a descriptive research study to identify the correlation between family intimacy, interpersonal relationship tendency, communication ability, self-leadership and the factors influencing self-leadership. Data collection was conducted from June 7 to June 20, 2020, targeting 236 nursing universities located in Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do. Results: The subjects family intimacy, interpersonal tendency, communication ability, and self-leadership showed statistically significant correlations in the positive direction. As a result of multiple regression analysis, the F value of the regression model fit was statistically significant at 42.29(<.001). Factors influencing self-leadership were family intimacy, interpersonal relationship tendency, and communication ability. Conclusion: In order to help nursing students adapt to college life, it is necessary to develop self-leadership, which is an individual s inner ability, develop a curriculum that strengthens interpersonal skills, and develop curriculum and comparison programs to enhance coping methods.

      • In-der-Welt -Sein who desires the beyond-death: Reading Don DeLillo"s Zero K

        In Being and Time(1926), Martin Heidegger questions “the meaning of Being” with the meaning of “Time”. He says that time can exist only when we are mortal. In the world where humans can live forever, time may be meaningless or nonexistent even. Science has been developing so fast that, in the future, humans may gain control over their death and life: that is, eternal life may be possible. Don DeLillo’s recent novel, Zero K, reflects these ideas to its theme: life, death, time, being, and rebirth-by-technology. In Zero K, Artis and her millionaire husband Ross Lockhart chose a project called "The Convergence", in hopes to be ‘reborn’ in the future where Artis’ disease can be cured. Though Ross was healthy and could live twenty years more, he finally decided to be buried with Artis in the frozen capsule, hoping to be awaken someday together. This novel raises numerous questions about “the meaning of Being” and other concepts. "Inquiry"(Asking) is a very important concept in Heidegger. He says that "Every Inquiry is a seeking"(Heidegger 24). In Heidegger’s perspective, Jeff, the writer and Ross" son, is the seeker of “the meaning of Being” and that of death.

        Perception of precocious puberty among school-aged children in South Korea with the experience of treatment for precocious puberty: a Q methodological approach

        Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the perceptions of precocious puberty and elucidate the distinct characteristics of each type of perception related to precocious puberty among school-aged children who had undergone treatment for the condition. Methods: This study applied the Q methodology to identify and classify the perceptions of precocious puberty among school-aged children who had undergone treatmentfor the condition. The analysis involved 34 questions from the Q sample and data from 35 individuals in the P sample, using the PC-QUANL Program for analysis. Results: The perceptions of precocious puberty among school-aged children who had undergone precocious puberty treatment were classified into the following four types: "shyness - passive self-management," "resentment - suppression," "anxiety - fear," and "adaptation - acceptance." Conclusion: This study investigated the experiences and perceptions of children who have undergone treatment for precocious puberty. Through the identification of four types of perceptions, we can see that there is a need to develop an intervention program for nursing that is tailored to the specific type of precocious puberty.

      • Effects of Acupuncture on Alzheimer's Disease in Animal-Based Research

        <P>Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disease characterized by the accumulation of amyloid beta (A<I>β</I>) plaques, neurofibrillary tangles, and severe functional deficits in the brain. The pathogenesis and treatment of AD remain topics of investigation and significant global socioeconomic issues. The effect of complementary medicine has been investigated in managing AD. Acupuncture, a form of therapy practiced for more than 3000 years, has shown positive effects on several neurological disorders including AD. Animal studies have evaluated the specific utility and neuropathological mechanisms addressed by acupoint manipulation; however, no study has summarized the relationships among different acupoints and their therapeutic effects in the context of AD. Therefore, we reviewed the effects of acupuncture at different acupoints in animal models of AD. In general, acupuncture produced therapeutic benefits in rodent models of AD. Studies demonstrate the utility of GV20 as a valuable acupoint for electroacupuncture and manual acupuncture. GV20 stimulation suppresses A<I>β</I> generation, improves glucose metabolism, and attenuates neuropathological features in various disease models. However, a lack of sufficient evidence in preclinical and clinical studies makes these results controversial. Additional studies are required to confirm the exact utility of specific acupoints in clinically managing AD.</P>

        In Vivo Expression of the PTB-deleted Odin Mutant Results in Hydrocephalus

        Odin has been implicated in the downstream signaling pathway of receptor tyrosine kinases, such as the epidermal growth factor and Eph receptors. However, the physiologically relevant function of Odin needs to be further determined. In this study, we used Odin heterozygous mice to analyze the Odin expression pattern; the targeted allele contained a ${\beta}$-geo gene trap vector inserted into the 14t intron of the Odin gene. Interestingly, we found that Odin was exclusively expressed in ependymal cells along the brain ventricles. In particular, Odin was highly expressed in the subcommissural organ, a small ependymal glandular tissue. However, we did not observe any morphological abnormalities in the brain ventricles or ependymal cells of Odin null-mutant mice. We also generated BAC transgenic mice that expressed the PTB-deleted Odin (dPTB) after a floxed GFP-STOP cassette was excised by tissue-specific Cre expression. Strikingly, Odin-dPTB expression played a causative role in the development of the hydrocephalic phenotype, primarily in the midbrain. In addition, Odin-dPTB expression disrupted proper development of the subcommissural organ and interfered with ependymal cell maturation in the cerebral aqueduct. Taken together, our findings strongly suggest that Odin plays a role in the differentiation of ependymal cells during early postnatal brain development.

        돈 드릴로 소설에 나타난 죽음에 대한 공포와 종교의 의미 : 『화이트 노이즈』, 『언더월드』, 『추락하는 인간』을 중심으로

        This paper aims to examine the religion and the fear of death in DeLillo’s White Noise, Underworld, and Falling Man. DeLillo has posed the questions as to the two issues constantly, but his argument has changed and deepened throughout his novels. His early novel, White Noise, describes the contemporary world full of death lurking everywhere and the people trying constantly to get over their death, especially by giving up themselves to a religion. However, death is always around us, and is not caused by nature entirely but by the modern technology more gradually. But there is still a hope, because no one can witness the death of any characters. In Underworld, things have changed drastically. However, death is everywhere and there is no hope for human’s future. Technology attacks its creator ironically and wins the game finally. In this novel, DeLillo describes death with some real historical evidences. Although DeLillo offers hope in religion again, it is not an eventual exit. By showing a nun resurrected in the Internet world after death, DeLillo suggests that in this contemporary society, even the heaven could be replaced by the Internet. His worry of human’s future comes true, and DeLillo pictures the real death of 9/11 in Falling Man. This horrible event makes us think about not only human-beings and death but also our present life. To achieve the goal designated, this paper deals with religion and death in these novels in terms of Nietzschean interpretation. Nietzsche argues that our present life is much more important than after-life. However, he says that death is the true evidence that we are human, not God. According to Nietzsche, the religion and death in this postmodern society shed another different meaning to us.

        딥 스로틀링 가변 슬리브 인젝터의 추력제어 성능예측

        환형 갭과 핀틀갭의 면적을 동시에 제어할 수 있는 가변 슬리브 인젝터의 분무특성을 실험적으로 분석하고, 넓은 추력범위에서 일정한 성능으로 제어할 수 있는 방안을 연구하였다. 슬리브의 개도에 관계없이 일정한 차압을 설정한 경우 설계유량을 만족하지 못하는 것을 확인하였다. 이를 개선하기 위해 개도에 따라 환형 갭과 핀틀 갭에서의 차압을 개도에 따라 다르게 적용하였다. 운용범위 내에서 설계 유량을 만족하였고, 선형적인 슬리브 면적으로 25%에서 100%까지 선형적으로 추력제어가 가능한 것을 확인하였다. Experimental analysis of the spray characteristics of the movable sleeve injector, which can simultaneously control the area of the annular gap and the pintle gap, has been studied and a method for controlling the uniform performance over a wide thrust range has been studied. It is confirmed that the design flow rate is not satisfied when the constant pressure difference is set regardless of the opening distance of the sleeve. In order to improve this, the differential pressure in the annular gap and the pintle gap was applied differently according to the opening distance. It was confirmed that the design flow rate was satisfied within the operating range and thrust control was linear from 25% to 100% in linear sleeve area.
