Plasma sprayed ceramic coatings have been widely used for critical components for diesel and turbin engine, such as thermal barrier coatings (TBC), anti-corrosion and anti-wear coatings etc. And fairly successive results have been obtained for improving the durability of components. In recent years, car designers have been considering the use of the thermal barrier coatings (TBC) for adiabatic diesel engine. In this study, two-layer thermal barrier coatings composed of plasma sprayed 0.3mm ZrO₂(8wt%Y₂O₃) ceramic coating layer and 0.15mm NiCrAlCoY₂O₃bond coating layer on AISI 316 stainless steel were investigated by adhesive strength test(tensile test) to evaluate the durability of coating layer after cyclic thermal test and isothermal test at 900℃.

Nitrogen-14 quadrupolar relaxation has been observed in the amino proton nmr spectra of TA in acetone and methanol solutions over the temperature range $-83^{\circ}C\; to\;+35^{\circ}C.$ The proton nmr lineshapes were analyzed to yield a $^{14}N$ spin lattice relaxation time $(T_1)_N$ as a function of temperature. Activation energies and correlation times at $25^{\circ}C$ for the molecular reorientation in the two solution phases have been calculated and the results are discussed.

<P>This paper proposes a practical backover warning system using a wide-angle rearview camera. The proposed system utilizes simple but cost-effective techniques for pedestrian detection, verification, and tracking to achieve real-time operation. This system first transforms fisheye images via Mercator projection to reduce pedestrian shape variations. Second, it detects pedestrians based on lower and upper body detectors. This is for handling upright and non-upright poses as well as severe occlusions of upper bodies. Then, it confirms pedestrians by checking the existence of feet or a head inside the lower or upper body region. This step ensures that the system achieves a low false alarm rate. Finally, the confirmed pedestrians are visually tracked by fusing generative and discriminative models in a score level. In the experiment, the proposed system was quantitatively evaluated and compared with the previous method.</P>
Dense stereo-based critical area detection for active pedestrian protection system

<P>An active pedestrian protection system is required to operate in real-time and produce an extremely low false alarm. To achieve these requirements, Broggi <I>et al.</I> detected critical areas using a laser scanner and found pedestrians only in these areas via a camera. However, using heterogeneous sensors requires a complicated system architecture and laser scanners have drawbacks in terms of installability and durability. Therefore, proposed is a critical area detection method using a stereo camera. This configuration can overcome the aforementioned drawbacks and detect both critical areas and pedestrians using a single sensor module. The proposed method detects critical areas by extracting local extrema of the depth change profile along a free space boundary. Experiments show its feasibility quantitatively.</P>
