A vast majority of the research on friction stir welding(FSW) is mainly focused on welding of aluminium alloys. The researchstudies in this paper are based on one such alloy known as Al–Ce–Si–Mg aluminium alloy, of which, the microstructure andother mechanical properties of the friction stir welded joints are yet to be studied. The plates of Al–Ce–Si–Mg aluminiumalloy were friction stir welded using a non consumable, rotating tool with triangular profile pin and circular shoulder, withdifferent combinations of tool rotation speeds and weld speeds. The microstructure, hardness and mechanical properties ofthe weld were analyzed. The microstructure of the weld zones revealed that, the average grain size at the bottom of the NuggetZone (NZ) is 5 ± 0.12 μm and gradually increases to 15 ± 0.23 μm at the top of the NZ. In the TMAZ the grain size is20 ± 0.14 μm and is bigger compared to the NZ. In the HAZ, the grain size is around 37 ± 0.21 μm and is bigger than that inthe TMAZ. The maximum Vickers hardness value at the NZ center is 231.9 ± 2 Hv, and uniformly reduces to 100 ± 2.4 Hvin the TMAZ and 65 ± 1.3 Hv in the HAZ and then increases to 98 ± 1 Hv in the base material (BM). The maximum ultimatetensile strength (UTS) of FSW joint was found to be around 102.55 ± 3 MPa with elongation at fracture of 2.5%. The BMUTS was 154 ± 4.5 MPa. For a tool rotation speed of 800RPM and a weld speed of 20 mm/min a maximum joint efficiencyof 67%. was obtained. Hence these were chosen as the optimum process parameters to join the alloy Al–Ce–Si–Mg by FSW.
Authors’ perspectives on academic publishing: initial observations from a large-scale global survey

Authors are at the heart of academic publishing, but their voices are underrepresented in discussions about improving the academic publishing system. To understand the viewpoints of authors on various aspects of academic publishing and the challenges they face, we developed a large-scale survey entitled “Author perspectives on the academic publishing process” and made it available in December 2016. The survey has received 8,795 responses; this paper is based on the interim results drawn from 5,293 survey responses, and presents some interesting and thought-provoking trends that were observed in the authors’ responses, such as their interpretation of plagiarism and decisive factors in journal selection, as well as their thoughts on what needs to change in the publishing system for it to be more author-friendly. Some of the most important findings of the survey were: (1) the majority of the authors found manuscript preparation to be the most challenging task in the publication process, (2) the impact factor of a journal was reported to be the most important consideration for journal selection, (3) most authors found journal guidelines to be incomplete, (4) major gaps existed in author-journal communication, and (5) although awareness of ethics was high, awareness of good publication practice standards was low. Moreover, more than half of the participants indicated that among areas for improvement in the publishing system, they would like to see changes in the time it takes to publish a paper, the peer review process, and the fairness and objectivity of the publication process. These findings indicate the necessity of making the journal publication process more author-centered and smoothing the way for authors to get published.
LABEL INCIDENCE ENERGY OF PARTIAL EDGE LABELED GRAPH
SABITHA D’SOUZA,GOWTHAM H. J.,SWATI NAYAK,PRADEEP G. BHAT 장전수학회 2021 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.24 No.1
Let G = (V,E) be a simple graph with vertex set V = fv1, v2, . . . , vng and edge set E = fe1, e2, . . . , emg. The label incidence matrix Bl(G) of G is the n m matrix whose (i, j)-entry is a if 0 la- beled edge incident to 0 labeled vertex, b if 1 labeled edge incident to 1 labeled vertex, c if unlabeled edge incident to 0 or 1 labeled vertex and 0 otherwise. The label incidence energy IEl(G) is the sum of the singular values of Bl(G). In this paper we give lower and upper bounds for IEl(G) in terms of graph parameters and we study label incidence energy of some families of graph.

This study evaluated the effect of Matricaria chamomilla and vaccination frequency on cattle immunization against rabies. Four groups (n = 15 /group) were treated with or without Matricaria chamomilla CH12 and vaccinated with one or two doses of rabies vaccine (30 day interval). No effect of chamomile was found on cattle immunization against rabies; however, antibody titers were protective in cattle vaccinated twice, while 93.3% of cattle vaccinated only once had titers under 0.5 UI/ml after 60 days. In conclusion, the use of chamomile did not alter the humoral immune response in cattle, and two vaccine doses are suggested for achieving protective antibody titers.

[Purpose] Sodium bicarbonate shows ergogenic potential in physical exercise and sports activities, although there is no strong evidence which performance markers show the greatest benefit from this supplement. This study evaluated the effects of sodium bicarbonate supplementation on time trial performance and time to exhaustion in athletes and sports practitioners. [Methods] A systematic review was conducted using three databases, including 17 clinical trials. Among these clinical trials, 11 were considered eligible for the meta-analysis according to the criteria for the assessment of methodological quality using the PEDro Scale. Time to exhaustion was assessed in six studies, while time trial performance was evaluated in five studies. [Results] A significant beneficial effect of supplementation on time to exhaustion was found in a random effects model (1.48; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.49 to 2.48). There was no significant effect of supplementation on time trial performance in a fixed effects model (slope = -0.75; 95% CI, -2.04 to 0.55) relative to a placebo group. [Conclusion] Sodium bicarbonate has the potential to improve sports performance in general, especially in terms of time to exhaustion.

The pathway of electron transport to nitrogenase in the endophytic β-Proteobacterium Herbaspirillum seropedicae has not been characterized. We have generated mutants in two nif-associated genes encoding putative ferredoxins, fdxA and fdxN. The fdxA gene is part of the operon nifHDKENXorf1orf2fdxAnifQmodABC and is transcribed from the nifH promoter, as revealed by lacZ gene fusion. The fdxN gene is probably cotranscribed with the nifB gene. Mutational analysis suggests that the FdxA protein is essential for maximum nitrogenase activity, since the nitrogenase activity of the fdxA mutant strain was reduced to about 30% of that of the wild-type strain. In addition, the fdxA mutation had no effect on the nitrogenase switch-off in response to ammonium. Nitrogenase activity of a mutant strain lacking the fdxN gene was completely abolished. This phenotype was reverted by complementation with fdxN expressed under lacZ promoter control. The results suggest that the products of both the fdxA and fdxN genes are probably involved in electron transfer during nitrogen fixation.
Numerical simulation of single-phase two-components flow in naturally fractured oil reservoirs
Debossam, Joao Gabriel Souza, dos Santos Heringer, Juan Diego,de Souza, Grazione,Souto, Helio Pedro Amaral Techno-Press 2019 Coupled systems mechanics Vol.8 No.2
The main goal of this work is to develop a numerical simulator to study an isothermal single-phase two-component flow in a naturally fractured oil reservoir, taking into account advection and diffusion effects. We use the Peng-Robinson equation of state with a volume translation to evaluate the properties of the components, and the discretization of the governing partial differential equations is carried out using the Finite Difference Method, along with implicit and first-order upwind schemes. This process leads to a coupled non-linear algebraic system for the unknowns pressure and molar fractions. After a linearization and the use of an operator splitting, the Conjugate Gradient and Bi-conjugated Gradient Stabilized methods are then used to solve two algebraic subsystems, one for the pressure and another for the molar fraction. We studied the effects of fractures in both the flow field and mass transport, as well as in computing time, and the results show that the fractures affect, as expected, the flow creating a thin preferential path for the mass transport.

Objectives This study aimed to compare the torsional and cyclic fatigue resistance of ProGlider (PG), WaveOne Gold Glider (WGG), and TruNatomy Glider (TNG). Materials and Methods A total of 15 instruments of each glide path system (n = 15) were used for each test. A custom-made device simulating an angle of 90° and a radius of 5 millimeters was used to assess cyclic fatigue resistance, with calculation of number of cycles to failure. Torsional fatigue resistance was assessed by maximum torque and angle of rotation. Fractured instruments were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data were analyzed with Shapiro-Wilk and Kruskal-Wallis tests, and the significance level was set at 5%. Results The WGG group showed greater cyclic fatigue resistance than the PG and TNG groups (p < 0.05). In the torsional fatigue test, the TNG group showed a higher angle of rotation, followed by the PG and WGG groups (p < 0.05). The TNG group was superior to the PG group in torsional resistance (p < 0.05). SEM analysis revealed ductile morphology, typical of the 2 fracture modes: cyclic fatigue and torsional fatigue. Conclusions Reciprocating WGG instruments showed greater cyclic fatigue resistance, while TNG instruments were better in torsional fatigue resistance. The significance of these findings lies in the identification of the instruments’ clinical applicability to guide the choice of the most appropriate instrument and enable the clinician to provide a more predictable glide path preparation.
