        Faecal Microbiota Microsphere Contributed to Relieving Gut Barrier Damage in Colitis

        Gut microbiota play an important role in many diseases. However, few researches evaluated the effect of faecal bacteria transplantation in protecting gut barrier during colitis. In this study, we focused on the effect of faecal microbiota encapsulated alginate microsphere on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) induced colitis mice. Bacteria are sensitive to gastric juice and digestive enzymes, which is the dilemma of utilizing microbiota. Through taking advantage of alginate, microspheres that could protect its contents were fabricated. In vitro drug release experiment demonstrated their ability in protecting contents in simulated gastric fluid and release contents in simulated intestinal fluid. Thus, the resultant microsphere could be used in faecal microbiota transplantation. In vivo, the transplantation of faecal microbiota from healthy mice showed protection against DSS induced oxidative stress and gut barrier damage. Our findings suggest that the faecal microbiota transplantation could be a potential effective treatment for protecting gut barrier in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) colitis with faecal microbiota encapsulated alginate microsphere.

        Proboscis sensilla of the black cutworm Agrotis ypsilon (Rottemberg) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

        Proboscis sensilla are important for feeding biology in Lepidoptera, and are also valuable characters for speciesrecognition and phylogenetic analysis. However, proboscis has not been satisfactorily explored in many groupsin Lepidoptera so far. Here weexamined the proboscis sensilla of the black cutworm Agrotis ypsilon (Rottemberg),a cosmopolitan agricultural pest of great economic significance, using scanning electron microscopy. Three typesof sensilla were found on the proboscis: sensilla chaetica, sensilla basiconica, and sensilla styloconica. Sensillachaetica occur only on the external surface of the proboscis and become shorter and more scattered towardthe tip. Sensilla basiconica are arranged in longitudinal rows on the external proboscis and one longitudinalrow in the inner food canal. Sensilla styloconica are the most characteristic sensilla on the proboscis, consistingof a single sensory cone inserted at the top of a stylus with six or seven longitudinal ribs, and are concentratedon the tip region, and aremuch longer andmore numerous in females than inmales. The role of proboscis sensillain the feeding habit prediction is briefly discussed.

        Solvothermal Synthesis of InOOH Nanospheres with Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity

        Monodispersive indium oxyhydroxide (InOOH) nanospheres were successfully synthesized by an acetic acid-assisted solvothermal method. The structure and morphology of InOOH nanospheres were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscope. The obtained InOOH nanospheres have a porous structure with diameters of 400–650 nm and a relative large specific surface area of 60.63 m2/g. Introducing a trace amount of acetic acid into the reaction system can effectively adjust the reaction rate, realizing the morphology and phase tuning of InOOH nanospheres. The InOOH nanospheres exhibit excellent photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B under UV light irradiation, which is ascribed to the porous structures and high-Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area of InOOH nanospheres.

      • Tea seed saponin(TSS) improve lipid metabolism and oxidative stress in high fat diet(HFD)-induced obese mice

        To investigate the effect of TSS on lipid metabolism and oxidative stress in HFD mice. The body weight and food intake were observed. The serum SOD, MDA, GSH, TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C were determined by kits. Western Blotting was used to detect the levels of PPAR-γ, AMPK, SIRT1 and PGC-1α. TSS treatment reduced the body weight, Lee"s index and fat organ indices of mice in the HFD group. Compared with the control(CON) group, the serum TC, TG and LDL-C in the HFD group were increased, Administrated with TSS can improve abnormal blood lipid levels. Compared with the CON group, the serum SOD level in HFD group was significantly reduced(P<0.05), and MDA level was increased; while the levels of serum MDA in the TSS group decreased and SOD level increased. The pathological sections showed that TSS could improve the degree of hepatic steatosis. TSS also increased the levels of PPAR-γ, AMPK, SIRT1 and PGC-1α, and the effect of the high-dose group was the most significant. TSS can reduce body weight and fat accumulation, improve lipid metabolism disorder and oxidative stress caused by HFD.

        Experimental study of natural convection heat transfer from a nonuniformly heated flat plate simulating PV panel

        In view of the characteristic of Photovoltaic (PV) conversion, an experimental study has been conducted to investigate the natural convection heat transfer from a flat plate. In order to simulate the real PV cells, three electrical heating circuits were employed to achieve a linear nonuniform heat flux boundary condition. The major parameters, such as the gradient parameter of heat flux k, tilt angle θ and heat flux q w were introduced to analyze their influence on heat transfer ability. Both the local temperature distribution and the overall trend of Nusselt number have been presented. Comparing with the uniform thermal boundary condition, the results show that the local convection heat transfer coefficient is fluctuated at the positions where heat flux has changed. When gradient parameter of heat flux increases, the difference of local convection heat transfer coefficient at the top of the plate between tilt angle θ = 0° and 90° becomes smaller. Moreover, it is observed that the gradient parameter of heat flux has a promotion effect on average convection Nusselt number at larger tilt angle, but the effect becomes complex as tilt angle is smaller. Finally, a correlation combining all significant factors has been put forward to estimate the natural convection heat transfer.

      • Genotype Distribution and Behavioral Risk Factor Analysis of Human Papillomavirus Infection in Uyghur Women

        We investigated the distribution of HPV genotypes in Uyghur women in Xinjiang region of China, and behavioral factors which could predispose them to HPV infection. In this cross-sectional study, women aged 15-59 years were recruited by cluster sampling method in Yutian region in 2009. Liquid-based cytology samples were analyzed centrally for HPV genotype with a linear array detector. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify behavioral risk factors for HPV infection. A total of 883 Uyghur women were recruited successfully. The prevalence of high-risk HPV and low-risk HPV were 7.25% and 1.58%, respectively; the most common HPVs were HPV16, 51, 31, 39 and 58. We found that age of first sexual intercourse was a strong predictor for HPV infection (odds ratio of 4.01 for ${\leq}15$ years versus ${\geq}25$). Having sexual partners ${\geq}3$ was the second predictor (OR 3.69, 95% CI 2.24-7.16). Cleaning the vagina after sex showed an increased risk of HPV infection (OR 2.72; 95% CI 1.98-5.13); Using the condom showed protective factors for HPV infection (OR 0.36; 95%CI0.12-0.53). HPV16, 51, 31, 39 and 58 were the priority types; the age of first sexual intercourse was identified as a major risk factor for HPV infection. Other notable risks were number of sexual partners and cleaning the vagina after sex. Changing these behavioral risk factors could help to reduce the occurrence of cervical cancer in this population.

        Efficiency Optimization of Variable Iron Loss Resistance Asynchronous Motor Based on Grey Wolf Optimization Algorithm

        Asynchronous motor is widely used in various industrial fields. When asynchronous motor works in case close to the rated load, it will run at maximum efficiency. However, most of the load is 50–100% of rated load and it will lead to the serious waste of energy. This paper proposes an efficiency optimization control strategy based on the grey wolf optimization algorithm to improve the operating efficiency of asynchronous motors at light loads. The motor loss model considering the change of iron loss is established and it makes the asynchronous motor model more accurate. The grey wolf optimization algorithm is used to find the optimized flux value. When the asynchronous motor operates at the optimal flux, the loss power of the motor is decreased and the operation efficiency improves effectively. The proposed method reduces the flux search time and improves the stability of the system. The simulation model is established and the simulation results are provided to verify the feasibility of the proposed control strategy achieving the global efficiency optimum of asynchronous motor.

        A new high-order response surface method for structural reliability analysis

        In order to consider high-order effects on the actual limit state function, a new response surface method is proposed for structural reliability analysis by the use of high-order approximation concept in this study. Hermite polynomials are used to determine the highest orders of input random variables, and the sampling points for the determination of highest orders are located on Gaussian points of Gauss-Hermite integration. The cross terms between two random variables, only in case that their corresponding percent contributions to the total variation of limit state function are significant, will be added to the response surface function to improve the approximation accuracy. As a result, significant reduction in computational cost is achieved with this strategy. Due to the addition of cross terms, the additional sampling points, laid on two-dimensional Gaussian points off axis on the plane of two significant variables, are required to determine the coefficients of the approximated limit state function. All available sampling points are employed to construct the final response surface function. Then, Monte Carlo Simulation is carried out on the final approximation response surface function to estimate the failure probability. Due to the use of high order polynomial, the proposed method is more accurate than the traditional second-order or linear response surface method. It also provides much more efficient solutions than the available high-order response surface method with less loss in accuracy. The efficiency and the accuracy of the proposed method compared with those of various response surface methods available are illustrated by five numerical examples.
