For the study on the changes of S-100 reactivity at the renal tubular epithelium of rats(SpragueDawley, b.w. 250± 20gm. male), the common bile duct ligation was performed under ether anesthesia. At 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th day after operation, the S-100 immunoreactivity were compared with control rats. The results were as followings; 1. In the control rat, S-100 positive reactions were observed at the collectiong tubule, Henle's loop, distal tubule(partly) and renal papilla. 2. In common bile duct ligated rats, S-100 positive reactions were observed at the proximal convoluted tubule in the rats 1 day after operation, and at the collecting tubule and proximal convoluted tubule in the 3 days after operation.

Preoperative chemoradiotherapy followed by local excision in clinical T2N0 rectal cancer

Purpose: To investigate whether preoperative chemoradiotherapy (PCRT) followed by local excision (LE) is feasible approach in clinical T2N0 rectal cancer patients. Materials and Methods: Patients who received PCRT and LE because of clinical T2 rectal cancer within 7 cm from anal verge between January 2006 and June 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. LE was performed in case of a good clinical response after PCRT. Patients' characteristics, treatment record, tumor recurrence, and treatment-related complications were reviewed at a median follow-up of 49 months. Results: All patients received transanal excision or transanal minimally invasive surgery. Of 34 patients, 19 patients (55.9%) presented pathologic complete response (pCR). The 3-year local recurrence-free survival and disease free-survival were 100.0% and 97.1%, respectively. There was no recurrence among the patients with pCR. Except for 1 case of grade 4 enterovesical fistula, all other late complications were mild and self-limiting. Conclusion: PCRT followed by an LE might be feasible as an alternative to total mesorectal excision in good responders with clinical T2N0 distal rectal cancer.
Ketamine 에 의한 Vencuronium 의 근이완 효과에 미치는 영향

Comflicting results have been reported on whether ketamine potentiates the neuromuscular effect of succinylcholine or other non-depolarizing agents. Notably, there has been no reported clinical evatustion of the influence of ketamine upon the neuromuscular action of vecuronium, a new muscle relaxant. The present study was undertaken to estimate the influence of ketamine upon the neuromuscular action of vecuronium with a single bolus injection of ED_95. Forty-five ASA class ⅠorⅡ surgical patients were divided into three groups:Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ, and were given thiopental sodium(5 mg/kg). ketamine 3mg/kg and ketamine 5 mg/kg as induction agents, repectively. The duration and recovery index of groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ (35.20±2.30 and 16.20±1.37 min., 52.60±3.98 and 25.47±3.78 min., respectively) were longer than those in group Ⅰ (24.87±1.59 and 10.66±1.23 min.). But group I had a lower TOF ratio(27.40±3.09%) at 75% single twitch recovery than groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ (41.87±3.25 and 45.27±3.67%, respectively). The increase in duration and the recovery index of group Ⅲ were greater than that of group Ⅱ. It was concluded that ketamine would potentiate the neuromuscular action of vecuronium in a dose-dependent manner. We suggest that combination of ketamine and mecuronium requires careful postorperative neuromuscular monitoring for the recovery from a vecuroniuminduced neuromuscular block.

Korea is highly dependent on foreign countries for energy while at the same time having a high energy-consumption industrial structure. Therefore, logical improvements in energy use efficiency and nationwide energy saving are becoming more and more important in coping with the worldwidehigh oil prices and environmental issues such as listed in the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Consequently, a study was conducted on the average annual load factor in domestic areas to set a reasonable and reliable technology standard plan for high-efficiency transformers. The average annual load factor in Korea was discovered to be 18.4[%] classified by industry. This factor is expected to be used in arranging a domestic standard for a minimum efficiency system for transformers, and in reviewing and supplementing the standard transformers plan for the High Energy-Efficiency Appliance Certification. The expected effect from the establishment of the technology standards plan for highly efficient transformers is the expansion of the manufacturing and distribution of highly efficient transformers that are suitable for domestic use. These will lead to electricity cost savings for users, strengthening the related industries' market competitive powers and the effective reduction of greenhouse gases on a national level by drastically reducing loss from transformers, which accounts for a large portion of the total electric supply losses.

The assembly of the micron-sized Si/CNT/carbon composite wrapped with graphene (SCG composite) is designed and synthesized via a spray drying process. The spherical SCG composite exhibits a high discharge capacity of 1789 mAh g<sup>-1</sup> with an initial coulombic efficiency of 84 %. Moreover, the porous architecture of SCG composite is beneficial for enhancing cycling stability and rate capability. In practice, a blended electrode consisting of spherical SCG composite and natural graphite with a reversible capacity of ~500 mAh g<sup>-1</sup>, shows a stable cycle performance with high cycling efficiencies (> 99.5%) during 100 cycles. These superior electrochemical performance are mainly attributed to the robust design and structural stability of the SCG composite during charge and discharge process. It appears that despite the fracture of micro-sized Si particles during repeated cycling, the electrical contact of Si particles can be maintained within the SCG composite by suppressing the direct contact of Si particles with electrolytes.

This research investigated efficient operation mode for the successful performance of SBR(sequencing batch rcactor) treating fish processing wastewater, and the effect of sodium chloride (NaCl) on treatment efficiency. 2-hour-annerobic, 6-hour-aerobic and 3-hour-anoxic operation during reaction period was found an effective operating method for organic and nitrogen removal from fish processing wastewater in SBR system. The average removal efficiencies of COD, BOD, and total nitrogen in SBR operated continuousely were 91%, 95%, and 67.1%, respectively. The cstimated values of biomass yield coefficient(Y), microbial decay coefficient(K_d), and bioreaction rate constant(K) were 0.35gMLSS/gCOD_removed, 0.015 day^-1, and 0.209hr^-1, respectively. As NaCl concentration increased from 5 to 30g/L, sludge settleability was cnhanced but organic removal in the reactor was decreased. NaCl of influent had considerable relationship with COD removal, whereas it did not significant affect nitrogen removal.
양송이 수확 후 배지로 부터 분리한 옥신생산 세균의 생육특성

충남 부여군 석성면 양송이 재배 농가에서 채취한 양송이 수확 후 배지로부터 auxin생성능이 뛰어난 세균 2SJ8-02 균주를 분리하여 TLC 및 HPLC 분석을 통해 확인한 결과, IAA 생산농도는 122 mg L<sup>-1</sup>이었으며 LC-Mass분석에 의하여 생성된 물질은 분자량이 175인 IAA로 확인되었다. 분리균에 의한 IAA 생산을 위한 최적조건을 실험한 결과, 0.1% L-tryptophan를 함유한 pH 7.0의 R2A broth배지에 35℃, 24시간 배양 시 최대 이었다. 녹두발근 생검법과 pot 재배를 통한 식물생육효과 실험에서 분리균 배양액의 첨가는 대조구에 비해 발근수와 뿌리길이에서 약 2배의 뿌리신장효과를 보였다. 생리적 특성 및 계통학적 특성분석을 통해 분리균은 Gram 음성 간균인 Pantoea rwandensis 2SJ8-02로 동정되었다. An auxin-producing bacteria (2SJ8-02) was isolated from waste mushroom bed of Agaricus bisporus in Buyeo-Gun, Chungnam. The strain 2SJ8-02 was classified as a novel strain of Pantoea rwandensis based on a chemotaxanomic and phylogeneticanalyses. The isolate was confirmed to produce indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), one of auxin hormones, by TLC and HPLC analyses. The maximum concentration of IAA, 122 mg L<sup>-1</sup> was detected from the culture in R2A broth containing 0.1% tryptophan for 24 h at 35℃. The molecular weight of the main peak obtained by LC-mass analysis was 175 corresponding to that of IAA. To investigate the growth-promoting effects to the crops, the culture broth of Pantoea rwandensis 2SJ8-02 was infected to water cultures and seed pots of mung bean. In consequence, the adventitious root induction and root growth of mung bean were two times higher than those of the control.
