A bidirectional flyback converter is a suitable topology for a PV-to-bus differential power processing (DPP) module in PV applications because of its electrical isolation capability, bidirectional power transfer, high step-up ratio, and simple circuit structure. Bidirectional flyback converters differ from the conventional flyback converters, which has power switches and snubber circuits on both the primary and secondary sides for bi-directional operations. The poor reverse recovery characteristics of the anti-parallel diode of the secondary (output) side power switch increase the switching loss and reduce the reliability. This paper proposes the design methodology of the bidirectional flyback converter for operating under the boundary conduction mode (BCM), which can show low power loss from the reverse recovery issue. The suitable magnetizing inductance is obtained by calculating the power losses in the bidirectional operation at the rated load. The validity of the proposed design methodology is verified using a 25.6-W bidirectional flyback converter prototype.
Mobile Phone-based Real-time Dangerous Object Recognition for the Visually Impaired

This paper proposes a dangerous object recognition Android application for the visually impaired using a smartphone. Among the one-stage and two-stage detectors, which are representative object recognition methods, the one-stage method is more suitable for real-time object recognition. Among them, more accurate object recognition is possible using the SSD network. In addition, the visually impaired cannot see the screen or the front properly in their daily life, so it informs them of dangerous situations in advance through sound. The system helps the visually impaired using a priority queue that notifies the visually impaired with a different sound according to a high-priority object. The experiment results of the proposed system are expected to bring positive results when applied to the smartphones of visually impaired people.

Background: We investigated the effects of sevoflurane exposure on the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP), expression and ablation of natural killer group 2, member D (NKG2D) ligands (UL16-binding proteins 1–3 and major histocompatibility complex class I chain-related molecules A/B), and natural killer (NK) cell-mediated cytotoxicity in breast cancer cells.Methods: Three human breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-453, and HCC-70) were incubated with 0 (control), 600 (S6), or 1200 μM (S12) sevoflurane for 4 h. The gene expression of NKG2D ligands and their protein expression on cancer cell surfaces were measured using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and flow cytometry, respectively. Protein expression of MMP-1 and -2 and the concentration of soluble NKG2D ligands were analyzed using western blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, respectively. Results: Sevoflurane downregulated the mRNA and protein expression of the NKG2D ligand in a dose-dependent manner in MCF-7, MDA-MB-453, and HCC-70 cells but did not affect the expression of MMP-1 or -2 or the concentration of soluble NKG2D ligands in the MCF-7, MDA-MB-453, and HCC-70 cells. Sevoflurane attenuated NK cell-mediated cancer cell lysis in a dose-dependent manner in MCF-7, MDA-MB-453, and HCC-70 cells (P = 0.040, P = 0.040, and P = 0.040, respectively).Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that sevoflurane exposure attenuates NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity in breast cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner. This could be attributed to a sevoflurane-induced decrease in the transcription of NKG2D ligands rather than sevoflurane-induced changes in MMP expression and their proteolytic activity.

전기자동차 사용 인구가 많아짐에 따라 전기자동차가 가지는 문제에 대한 시장의 해결 요구가 높아지고 있다. 특히 저온 환경에서 배터리 저감 속도가 가속화되는 것이 주요 문제 중 하나이다. 차량 실내 난방을 위한 전기 에너지 사용은 배터리 저감 문제를 더욱 심화시킨다. 그래서 본 논문은 에너지 사용량이 낮은 복사식 면상발열체를 활용한 난방 장치의 사용성을 높여, 전기자동차의 배터리 저감을 완화시키는 방안을 연구하고 이를 적용한 장치의 컨셉을 개발하였다. 세부적으로는 난방 장치에 위치 조절과 거리 조절 기능을 부여하였다. 사용자의 다양한 체형에 대한 대응력을 높임으로 체감 난방 만족도를 증대시키고자 하였다. 또한 기존 제품 대비 난방 부위인 허벅지의 더 넓은 면적을 커버할 수 있음을 프로토타이핑을 통해 확인하였다.

As semiconductor packages are miniaturized, silicon die thickness has become thinner. Thus, defects that were not previously in the silicon die pick-up process occur due to the decrease in the thickness of the silicon die. It is estimated that this phenomenon is related to the influence on the stress of the silicon die while the needle-pin pick-up process is performed for delaminating between silicon die and adhesive tape. In this study, we were evaluated the stress change of the silicon die according to the thickness of silicon die and adhesive tape, and the position of vacuum line to hold on the vacuum during the process through a finite element analysis. Furthermore, the finite element analysis of two different type model were performed for comparing whether which model is more conservative or not.

Exploration of Information Architecture for Speech Interface under Absence of Visual Information

There are various computers in our daily life, after the concept of Ubiquitous computing has been introduced and the technology for computer has been newly developed. The study on the information architecture and the modality, getting information from interface, has been taken, as a result. The AUI(Auditory User Interface) appeared to give information in sound, leading to these. However, there are few studies on the optimal information architecture giving information in verbally on AUI, having button type control panel. This study thus attempts to reveal the optimal information structure format in perspective of the interface factors(the number of controls, the quantity of information that the interface has) affect on the usability. The learning time and performance time were measured with the prototype of control panel. The learning time and performance time were increased following to the number of controls and the quantity of information that interface has. The type of the function arrangement makes the learning time increase, but performance time decrease. When the quantity of information equals, less buttons and deeper depth of functions are better than the others in perspective of learning time.
해시 체인 보안 취약성을 개선한 RFID 인증 프로토콜

RFID 는 자동 객체 식별 기술로써 유비쿼터스 환경과의 연결을 통해서 적용 범위가 더욱 확대되고 있다. 그러나 RFID 시스템은 전파를 이용하는 통신 구조와 낮은 태그 가격 제약으로 인해서 사용자의 프라이버시 문제와 악의적인 공격 노출 등의 위험이 발생하고 있다. 이런 문제점들을 해결하기 위해 물리적인 방법과 암호학적인 접근 방법 등 많은 방법들이 제안되었다. 그 중에서 해시 체인 기법은 다른 방법과 비교하여 강력한 보안 수준을 제공하면서도 간단한 인증 과정이 장점이다. 그러나 재전송 공격과 스푸핑 공격에 취약한 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 기존 해시 체인의 장점을 유지하면서 보안 취약성을 개선한 RFID 인증 프로토콜을 제안한다. 계산 효율성을 고려하여 최소한의 난수와 비트 연산(XOR)을 이용하여 보안 취약성을 개선한다.
