<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Stilbenes have been reported to be phytoestrogen compounds owing to its structural similarity to the estrogenic agent diethylstilbestrol. To find new stilbene-derivative phytoestrogens, isolation of stilbene-rich <I>R. undulatum</I> was performed and led to identify six new compounds (<B>1</B>–<B>5</B> and <B>28</B>), one newly determined absolute configurations compound (<B>27</B>) together with 21 previously reported compounds (<B>6</B>–<B>26</B>). The structures of compounds were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods including 1D and 2D NMR and CD spectra data. All the isolated compounds were tested for their estrogenic activities in HepG2 cells transiently transfected with ERα, ERβ and ERE-reporter plasmid. Among them, stilbene-derivatives, piceatannol 3′-<I>O</I>-β-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-xylopyranoside (<B>12</B>), <I>cis</I>-rhaponticin (<B>16</B>) and rhapontigenin 3′-<I>O</I>-β-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-glucopyranoside (<B>17</B>), showed the more potent binding affinity for estrogen receptors than 17β-estrodiol.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P> <I>Juglans mandshurica</I> Maxim. (Juglandaceae) is a traditional folk medicine used for treatment of dermatosis and to relieve aches in Korea and China. In this study, eight compounds, along with six known compounds, were isolated from the fruit of <I>J. mandshurica</I>. Among the six known compounds, the absolute configuration of two compounds were determined. The structures of compounds were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods, including 1D and 2D NMR and CD spectroscopic data. All isolated compounds were tested for their lipolytic activities in differentiated adipocytes using C3H10T1/2 mouse embryonic fibroblasts. <P>BubR1 acetylation is essential in mitosis. Mice heterozygous for the acetylation-deficient <I>BubR1</I> allele (<I>K243R/+</I>) spontaneously developed tumors with massive chromosome missegregations. <I>K243R/+</I> mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) exhibited a weakened spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) with shortened mitotic timing. The generation of the SAC signal was intact, as Mad2 localization to the unattached kinetochore (KT) was unaltered; however, because of the premature degradation of K243R-BubR1, the mitotic checkpoint complex disassociated prematurely in the nocodazole-treated condition, suggesting that maintenance of the SAC is compromised. BubR1 acetylation was also required to counteract excessive Aurora B activity at the KT for stable chromosome–spindle attachments. The association of acetylation-deficient BubR1 with PP2A-B56α phosphatase was reduced, and the phosphorylated Ndc80 at the KT was elevated in <I>K243R/+</I> MEFs. In relation, there was a marked increase of micronuclei and <I>p53</I> mutation was frequently detected in primary tumors of <I>K243R/+</I> mice. Collectively, the combined effects of failure in chromosome–spindle attachment and weakened SAC cause genetic instability and cancer in <I>K243R/+</I> mice.</P>

입술은 각질층이 매우 얇아 수분증발에 취약하며, 노화 과정에서 주름이 증가하고, 붉은색을 잃으며, 볼륨이 감소하게 된다. 매력적인 입술을 가지기 위해 시행되는 지방이식, 필러 주입을 대체하기 위한 성분에 대한 연구는 아직 보고된 바가 거의 없으며, 최근 새로운 지방세포의 수를 증가시키는 것이 인체 내 지방을 늘릴 수 있는 방법으로 제안되고 있다. 우리는 선행연구에서 지방줄기세포를 지방세포로 분화 유도하는 천연물질로써 요엽후박나무 추출물(Magnolia officinalis bark extract)의 우수한 효능을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서는 요엽후박나무 추출물이 바이오 프린팅으로 제작한 지방 유사 구조체에서 지방(lipid droplet)의 양을 증가시키면서 분화를 촉진시킴을 3D 수준에서 확인하였다. 다음으로 입술 주름에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 주름 사진으로 부터 명암값의 표준편차(SDGV)를 J 이미지 소프트 웨어를 사용하여 측정함으로써 객관적 측정 방법을 확립하였고, 주름 정도에 따른 입술 주름 그레이드를 도출하여 정량화하였다. 결과적으로 요엽후박나무 추출물 1%를 함유한 제품을 12주간 사용했을 때, 입술 주름을 유의하게 개선시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구 결과는 요엽후박나무 추출물이 지방줄기세포를 지방세포로 분화 유도하는 효능을 가지며, 이러한 효능이 입술 주름을 개선하는데 도움을 줄 수 있다는 점을 시사하고, 따라서 요엽후박나무 추출물은 입술 주름과 볼륨을 개선하는 화장품 후보 소재로 적용 가능하다는 것을 보여준다. Lips have a defect in maintenance of moisture due to their thin layer. As aging progresses, lips lose volume and redness, and become wrinkled. Fat grafting and filler surgery have been used to achieve attractive lips, but little research has been reported to develop better materials to replace the present methods. Recently, a study suggests that the increase of adipocyte number can be enhancing the expansion endogenous fat. In previous study, we identified that the efficacy of Magnolia officinalis bark extract (MOBE) was effective on the induction of adipogenic differentiation. In this study, we confirmed that MOBE enhanced the differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells on the fat mimic 3D structure built by 3D bioprinting method From further experiments in human, we established a method to quantify the severity of lip wrinkle by measurement of standard deviation of gray value using Image J software. Finally, we found that topical treatment with 1% MOBE formulated lip balm significantly improved the lip wrinkle after using for 12 weeks. In conclusion, these findings suggest that MOBE has great potential, as a cosmetic ingredient, to reduce the lip wrinkle through the effect of promoting adipogenic differentiation.

Recently, the attentions to the rental housing business are increasing rapidly. The business environment such as the surge of one person households, preference change from ownership to rent in housing market, paradigm shift from price appreciation to operation income and so on, is transforming rental housing into a major business area in real estate industry. The government has been also preparing policy such as private rental housing management company, New Stay, and so on, to support private rental housing business. This paper attempted to explain the influencing factors on monthly rent of rental units managed by private rental housing management company. Specifically, this study analyzes monthly rent of 1,028 residential units in Seoul by using hedonic price model. This study classified influencing factors into regional, locational, rental building, rental unit, and management characteristics. The empirical result shows that monthly rents are influenced by region and locational characteristics. This study finds out that building characteristics such as housing type, building age, piloti area, and number of parking lot per unit have significant effect on monthly rent. And rental unit characteristics such as unit size, unit type, the floor it is located has significant effect on monthly rent. With regard to rental housing management, this study shows management efforts such as remodeling of building, installment of CCTV, installment of home appliance and furniture, and so on, can significantly increase monthly rent.

<P>We demonstrated light extraction improvement by applying a scattering layer of Ag nanoparticles physically synthesized through a low-temperature annealing process to flexible organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). In general, increasing the size of Ag nanoparticles is preferred to increase light scattering, but a high-temperature annealing process (∼400 °C) is required to produce them. However, flexible substrates generally cannot withstand high-temperature processes. In this study, we formed Ag nanoparticles at a low temperature of ∼200 °C by inserting a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate buffer layer, thus promoting Ag dewetting. As a result, the scattering layer of enlarged Ag nanoparticles formed at low temperatures increased the external quantum efficiency by 24% in a flexible OLED compared to a reference device.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Fibrinolytic enzyme genes (aprE2, aprE176, and aprE179) were introduced into the Bacillus subtilis 168 chromosome without any antibiotic resistance gene. An integration vector, pDG1662, was used to deliver the genes into the amyE site of B. subtilis 168. Integrants, SJ3-5nc, SJ176nc, and SJ179nc, were obtained after two successive homologous recombinations. The integration of each fibrinolytic gene into the middle of the amyE site was confirmed by phenotypes (Amy-, SpecS) and colony PCR results for these strains. The fibrinolytic activities of the integrants were higher than that of B. subtilis 168 by at least 3.2-fold when grown in LB broth. Cheonggukjang was prepared by inoculating each of B. subtilis 168, SJ3-5nc, SJ176nc, and SJ179nc, and the fibrinolytic activity of cheonggukjang was 4.6 ± 0.7, 10.8 ± 0.9, 7.0 ± 0.6, and 8.0 ± 0.2 (U/g of cheonggukjang), respectively at 72 h. These results showed that construction of B. subtilis strains with enhanced fibrinolytic activities is possible by integration of a strong fibrinolytic gene via a marker-free manner.
