치매방지 작업기구 사용이 항산화효소 활성에 미치는 영향

We developed an occupational therapy tool to maintain and improve the cognitive function for the elderly who have senile dementia. 86 elderly people took a mininal mental state examination (MMSE) for the therapy to perform the occupational therapy, and divided into three groups based on avarage ages and MMSE values. The occupational therapy was treated three times per week for 10 weeks. The results showed that there were significant differences in the performing scores before and after the treatment ; the scores for the occupational therapy were increased significantly (p<0.001) and the performing time was shortened from 6-week throughout 10-week regimen. This study was to examine the effect on the activity of antioxidant enzymes by occupational therapy. The activities of antioxidant enzymes such as catalase, Glutathion-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were increased to the normal standard by the occupational therapy for the elderly having dementia. The recovery of activities of antioxidant enzymes was obvious in severe demented elderly compared to those in normal or mild demented elderly. These results suggest that the occupational therapy had an beneficial effect on the protection against the oxidative stress especially for severe demented elderly, and the occupational tool need to be modified so as to improve the protection against the oxidative stress for normal and/or mild demented elderly.
Decontamination Effects of Ozone Generated in an Atmospheric-pressure Air Plasma on Packaged Fruits

Atmospheric-pressure plasma has recently been intensively studied for agricultural product treatment because of its strong decontamination effect and its abundant active agents such as atomic oxygen, ozone, and ultra-violet radiation. However, detailed mechanistic studies of plasma and agricultural products have yet to be conducted. In this study, a dielectric barrier air-discharge plasma was used to treat fruit in packages, and its decontamination mechanism was studied through plasma characterization, microbiological analysis, and food-quality check. By heating the gas introduced for plasma generation and filling packages, we found that the plasma-treated gases enabled better storage conditions for fruits without significant quality degradation. In addition, the control of ozone concentration was revealed to be one of the main decontamination factors.

Gas temperature is one of the most important parameters for atmospheric pressure plasma applications. Based on the fact that this parameter is closely related to the rotational temperature of diatomic molecules at atmospheric pressure, a spectroscopic method of measuring the rotational temperature was used by analyzing the OH, O₂, N₂<SUP>+</SUP>, CH, and CN molecular spectra, which are frequently observed in various atmospheric pressure plasmas. In this work, a semi-automatic program for the determination of the rotational temperature was developed, allowing the use of modest resolution monochromators, generally used in industries and laboratories. Different atmospheric pressure plasma sources were used for application to the various gas temperatures in the range of 400-2500 K. Different diatomic molecular spectra emitted under the same plasma condition showed almost the same gas temperature. Through a sensitivity study of the method, it was found that the diagnostic conditions, such as molecular species and optical resolution, should be carefully selected for more accurate measurements.
초음속 플라즈마의 광 진단 및 시각화를 통한 특성 평가

고온 플라즈마 발생장치는 고전력이 인가된 전기아크 방전을 통해 고온, 고압, 고속 및 대전력의 플라즈마를 발생시켜 반응 챔버에서 다양한 플라즈마 기초 연구 및 응용연구를 수행할 수 있는 플라즈마 응용분야의 핵심 실험 장비이다. 특히 수 MW/m2 이상의 고 엔탈피 영역의 열적 부하와 초음속 유동 환경에서 견디는 재료의 개발 및 시험을 위해 0.4 MW Enhaned Huels 형 플라즈마 발생장치의 구축이 완료되어 시험 평가 중이다. 특히 초음속 유동 기초 평가 및 고온 대면 물질의 평가를 위해 0.4MW 플라즈마 발생장치를 이용하여, 초음속 유동 환경을 조성하여 그 특성을 규명하는 연구는 매우 중요하다. 이를 위해 광 필터와 고속 카메라 및 광분광기를 통한 플라즈마 시각화 및 특성을 평가하고자 한다. 또한 향후 공간 분해 및 시간 분해가 가능한 초음속 유동 플라즈마의 특성 평가를 위해 laser를 이용한 플라즈마 진단 시스템을 개발하고자 하며, 이를 통해 플라즈마의 밀도 및 온도와 같은 기초변수를 규명하고, 플라즈마 대면 물질과의 상호작용에 대한 연구를 수행하고자 한다. High enthalpy plasma system is one of the important and large equipments for plasma basic and application studies using high temperature, high pressure, high flow velocity and high power plasma generation in a chamber by high power electrical arc discharge. A 0.4 MW enhanced Hules type plasma system was developed for the studies of thermal protection systems (TPS) under the high enthaply conditions over a few MW/m2 and the supersonic flow environments. From this reason, the basic studies of the plasma using optical diagnostics and visualization are very important studies to know the basic parameters of plasma and to know the interaction between the plasma and the plasma facing materials. In addition, We will develop the advanced optical and laser-aid diagnostic system to study the plasma parameters such as electron density and temperature.
Damping-off of Coastal Hogfennel Caused by Rhizoctonia solani AG-4

Damping-off symptoms were frequently observed on young plants of coastal hogfennel (Peucedanum ja- ponicum) grown in a farmer’s vinyl greenhouse located in Goseong, Gangwon Province, Korea during a dis- ease survey in June 2019. Incidence of the diseased plants was 50-70% in the vinyl greenhouse investigated during the disease survey. Eight isolates of Rhizoctonia sp. were obtained from the diseased plants. All the isolates were identified as Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 based on the morphological characteristics and anastomo- sis test. Three isolates of R. solani AG-4 were tested for pathogenicity on coastal hogfennel by artificial inocu- lation. All the tested isolates induced damping-off symptoms on the inoculated plants. The symptoms were similar to those observed in the farmer’s vinyl greenhouse investigated. This is the first report of R. solani AG-4 causing damping-off in coastal hogfennel.
