Brevibacillus panacihumi sp. nov., a -glucosidase-producing bacterium

<P>Two Gram-positive-staining, endospore-forming, rod-shaped, motile bacteria, strains DCY35(T) and C17, were isolated from soil of a ginseng field in South Korea and were characterized in order to determine their taxonomic positions. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that the two strains belonged to the family Paenibacillaceae; strain DCY35(T) showed highest levels of similarity to strain C17 (99.9 %), Brevibacillus invocatus LMG 18962(T) (98.9 %), B. centrosporus DSM 8445(T) (98.0 %), B. borstelensis DSM 6347(T) (97.6 %), B. formosus DSM 9885(T) (97.4 %), B. agri DSM 6348(T) (97.3 %), B. brevis DSM 30(T) (97.3 %) and B. levickii LMG 22481(T) (97.0 %). Chemotaxonomic analyses revealed that strains DCY35(T) and C17 possess menaquinone MK-7, common to members of the genus Brevibacillus, and that the predominant fatty acids were iso-C(15 : 0) (37.3 % of the total), anteiso-C(15 : 0) (32.9 %), iso-C(14 : 0) (11.8 %) and iso-C(16 : 0) (6.5 %). The results of physiological and biochemical tests clearly demonstrated that strains DCY35(T) and C17 represent a distinct species. Based on these data, the two strains are considered to represent a novel species of the genus Brevibacillus, for which the name Brevibacillus panacihumi sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is DCY35(T) (=KCTC 13206(T) =JCM 15085(T)).</P>

The ruthenium(II) ferrocenyl heterocyclic thiosemicarbazone complexes of the type [RuCl(CO)(EPh3)]2L (where E = P/As; L = binucleating monobasic tridendate thiosemicarbazone ligand) have been investigated. Strutural features were determined by analytical and spectral techniques. Binding of these complexes with CTDNA by absorption spectral study indicates that the ruthenium(II) complexes form adducts with DNA and has intrinsic binding constant in the range of 3.3 × 104 - 1.2 × 105 M−1. The complexes exhibit a remarkable DNA cleavage activity with CT-DNA in the presence of hydrogen oxide and the cleavage activity depends on dosage.

A gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-motile, gamma and UV-tolerant bacterium, Hymenobacter sp. DG25A, was isolated from a soil sample collected in South Korea. The isolated strain demonstrated high level of resistance against gamma irradiation, with a D10 value of 6 kGy. The complete genome of Hymenobacter sp. DG25A was found to consist of a single chromosome (3,777,136 bp). The bacterium was isolated from a gamma ray-irradiated soil sample and was found to contain enzymes involved in the accumulation of manganese, which protects proteins from oxidation by reactive oxygen species. The genome also encodes enzymes for the nucleotide excision repair pathway, which leads to the efficient removal of double-strand breaks caused by ionizing radiation such as gamma and UV rays. An understanding of these genomic features can potentially be used in several biotechnological applications such as for the degradation of harmful contaminants or radioactive waste.

Nocardioides humi sp. nov., a -glucosidase-producing bacterium isolated from soil of a ginseng field

<P>Strain DCY24(T), a Gram-reaction-positive, aerobic, rod-shaped, motile bacterium, was isolated from soil of a ginseng field in South Korea. According to 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, it was closely related to Nocardioides aromaticivorans DSM 15131(T) (95.1 % similarity), Nocardioides simplex KCTC 9106(T) (95.0 %), Nocardioides nitrophenolicus DSM 15529(T) (94.8 %) and Nocardioides kongjuensis DSM 19082(T) (94.7 %). Chemotaxonomic data revealed that strain DCY24(T) possessed MK-8(H(4)) as the predominant menaquinone, ll-2,6-diaminopimelic acid as the diagnostic diamino acid, phosphatidylglycerol and diphosphatidylglycerol as predominant polar lipids and iso-C(16 : 0), iso-C(17 : 0) and C(18 : 1)omega9c as predominant fatty acids. The DNA G+C content was 71.0 mol%. Based on evidence from this polyphasic study, strain DCY24(T) (=KCTC 19265(T) =LMG 24128(T)) should be classified as the type strain of a novel Nocardioides species, for which the name Nocardioides humi sp. nov. is proposed.</P>

In recent days, the electricity demand is increased day by day. For reducing this fact, various sustainable resources are used. The sustainable sources used with grid-connected power for supplying external power to the user. Green house harvesting system makes the effi cient harvesting and those are far from locality and off shore aqua farms. Conventional method uses wireless sensor network and RFIDs. This increased the design complexity and also increases the power loss. The existing optimization method used in this application is that Stochastic Tunnelling Particle Swarm Optimization Technique (ST-PSO). Novelty of this work implemented to enhance the performance by quantum tunnelling PSO on energy harvesting system and the hybrid resource always supply the power to the grid. Here the proposed research works on grid connected harvesting model extracts the energy from solar array and electromagnetic waves with RECTENNA. Here the rectifying antenna used to convert electromagnetic waves into the electrical energy and the PV generates power by changing irradiance and temperature. Here the optimization technique uses the Quantum Tunnelling Particle swarm optimization (QT-PSO) algorithm, which is eff ectively performed in PV based applications. This quantum tunnelling method is to converter the electromagnetic wave into DC power source, which is given to the grid-connected power generation circuits and it optimizes the result of energy harvesting system. The grid connected power system is used to supply the power without loss. Therefore, the proposed energy harvesting system is better than conventional systems by reducing power loss. The proposed research work is implemented in MATLAB and the model is done by SIMULINK.
