      • Cleansed PHAT GCC based Sound Source Localization

        Sound source localization (SSL) is one of the important techniques used in various engineering fields such as monitoring and surveillance system, and so on. When SSL is utilized in robot auditory system, it is essential for Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) in that robot can recognize its working environment and what direction a speaker is locating. Generalized cross correlation (GCC) function has been frequently used for SSL due to its fast computation and less requirement of high system resources. Artificial ear which is the robot auditory hardware we are dealing with consists of 2 microphones and a single pinna structure. This is locating on the both sides of robot head where free field condition can’t be applicable due to reflected wave caused by robot platform such as robot shoulder, etc. This paper has focused on modification of spatially mapped GCC function, which was proposed by B. Kwon, for application into artificial ear structure. We proposed cleansed PHAT GCC function for use in spatially mapped GCC method. Cleansed PHAT GCC function combines cleansing method and conventional PHAT GCC function for eliminating reflected wave which causes free field condition break down. Simulation results using proposed cleansed PHAT GCC function showed that 93% SSL performance is obtainable when a single sound source exists.

      • The Static and Dynamic Growth Patterns of High-Tech Ventures in Korea

        This study explores on the static and dynamic growth patterns of high-tech ventures in Korea. We developed an integrative framework with target market (local vs. global),product/market maturity (existing vs. emerging), and technological capability (follower vs. pioneer). We also identified seven new ventures strategies as follows: ⅰ) reactive imitation, ⅱ) proactive localization, ⅲ) import substitution, ⅳ) creative imitation, ⅴ) early market-entry, ⅵ) global niche, and ⅶ) global innovation. With five successful Korean new ventures, we found different competitive behaviors and performance among new venture strategic types. This study also observed two different growth patterns: growth through strategic replication and growth through strategic change. It depends on whether they are pursuing similar strategy over time or different strategy within for growth. In addition, we found that creative imitation plays a stepping-stone role in two-step internationalization processes. Although this study is exploratory and needs more empirical studies, it can provide new ventures with meaningful guidelines for growth and internationalization with a dynamic perspective. to examine growth patterns of new ventures from a dynamic perspective.

      • Sound Source Localization in Median Plane using Artificial Ear

        Sound source localization is the method using the measurements of the acoustic signals from microphone arrays in acoustical engineering. This technique has been used broadly in 3-D sound technology, humanoid robot and teleconferencing and so on. For robot industry, their ultimate purpose is to be with human being. This is why the industry is demanding applicable robot’ auditory system in the form of artificial ears like human’ external ear such as ear pinna. It has more benefits to make use of auditory system with ear pinna to humanoid robots for HRI. In this paper, we propose a specific sound source localization method using a pair of artificial ears, each of which consisting of a single ear pinna and two microphones. The feasibility and localization performance of proposed method for speech signal in median plane is shown. Through the experiment in office environment, we confirm that robots with artificial ears can estimate the elevation angle of speech signal just using two microphone output signals.

      • Leader-following Consensus Criteria for Multi-agent Systems with Time-delay and Static Interconnection Topology

        This paper proposes new delay-dependent consensus criteria for multi-agent systems with time-varying delays and static interconnection topology. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii’s functional and utilizing convexhull properties, new delay-dependent consensus criteria for the systems are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which can be easily solved by various effective optimization algorithms. One numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

        중소기업과 기술혁신: 「중소기업연구」 40년 연구동향 및 향후 연구과제

        본 연구는 중소기업 기술혁신에 대한 연구동향을 분석하고 향후 연구과제를 제시하였다. 중소기업 기술혁신 주제를 연구한 114편의 학술논문을 대상으로 연구주제와 방법론적 동향을 분석하였다. 연구주제에 있어서는 1980년대에는 기업의 기술능력과 기술축적에 대한 관심이 높았고, 2000년대 이후에는 외부 개방형혁신과 기술혁신 성과관련 주제 연구들이 증가하였다. 방법론적으로는 2000년대 이후에는 1차 자료 또는 2차 자료를 활용한 실증분석 연구가 주를 이루고 있음을 확인하였다. 향후 연구과제로는 중소기업 기술혁신 특성 연구, 기술혁신을 위한 외부환경과의 상호작용 연구 및 중소기업 기술혁신형 이론 및 방법론으로 구분하고 영역별 향후 연구방향을 제시하였다 This study investigates the research trends of SMEs and technological innovations in the last 40 years. Research topics and methodological trends were analyzed for 114 academic papers deals with technology innovation in SMEs. In terms of research subjects, there have been interested in the technology capability and technology accumulation of SMEs in the 1990s, but after the 2000s, research on external open innovation and innovation performance has increased. The empirical analysis studies using primary or secondary data were dominated since the 2000s. We suggest some future research directions, more systematic innovation processes in SMEs, the interactions between technology innovation and external environments, and advanced methodologies on SMEs’ technology innovation studies.

        내부 R&D투자와 외부 지식탐색 활용 영향요인

        최근 기업들은 내부 R&D투자와 동시에 외부 지식탐색을 통한 기술경쟁력 확보를 위해 노력하고 있다. 개방형 혁신의 중요성에 따라 외부 지식탐색에 대한 영향요인이나 상황적 특성에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있으나 이에 대한 실증연구는 미흡한 수준이다. 본 연구에서는 국내 중소제조기업에 있어서 내부 R&D투자와 외부지식탐색 활용에 영향을 주는 주요 기업특성요인들을 살펴보았다. 또한 기업내 R&D연구소 보유 여부가 내부 R&D투자와 외부 지식탐색 활용에 미치는 직접적인 효과과 조절효과를 살펴보았다 국내 중소제조기업들에 대한 대규모 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구가설들을 검정하였다. 기업들의 기술선도전략은 내부 R&D투자와 외부지식탐색에 정(+)의 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 국내최초전략을 추구하는 경우에는 내부 R&D투자와 외부지식탐색 모두 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 세계최초전략을 추구하는 경우에는 내부 R&D투자만 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 기술역량이 높을수록 내부 R&D투자와 외부지식탐색 모두 정(+)의 영향을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. R&D 연구소를 보유한 경우에는 내부 R&D투자는 유의하게 확대하는 것으로 나타났으나 외부지식탐색에는 유의한 영향관계가 나타나지 않았다. 연구소를 보유하고 기술역량이 높은 경우에는 내부 R&D투자와 정(+)의 영향관계가 나타났다. 반면, 연구소를 보유하고 기술역량이 높은 경우에는 외부지식탐색에 부(-)의 영향관계가 나타났다. 본 연구의 주요 연구결과와 시사점은 다음과 같다. 보편적인 기술보다는 최초기술을 개발하고자 하는 기업들은 내외부적으로 적극적인 지식창출을 추구하는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 그러나, 세계 최초 기술개발을 추구하는 경우에는 외부 기술이나 지식유출 우려는 외부지식탐색을 저해하는 요인으로 작용할 수 있다. 국내 중소제조기업들의 R&D연구소는 내부 기술개발 기능에는 충실하나 외부 지식탐색 기능은 미흡한 것으로 나타나고 있어 제한적인 역할에 그치고 있다. 연구소 보유하고 내부 기술역량 수준이 높을 경우에는 연구소 조직에 대한 정당성과 경영진 관심으로 인해 내부 R&D투자를 확대하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 연구소를 보유하고 내부기술역량 수준이 높은 경우에는 NIH 현상이나 외부 기술의존에 따른 연구소 존재와 역할에 대한 정당성 확보와 자원확보의 어려움으로 외부지식탐색을 저해하는 것으로 나타났다. Technological innovation is important for firms to seize new business opportunities and strengthens technology competitiveness in existing product markets. According to widespread of open innovation, prior studies focused on the effects of external knowledge search activities on performance with many country contexts. Recently there has been a growing interest in key factors to increase external knowledge search activities with limited empirical studies. There is little studies on how firm characteristics have impact both on internal R&D investment and external knowledge search activities. Also there are little understanding on the dual roles of R&D center for internal R&D development and external knowledge search. This study examined the relationship of firm characteristics-technological pioneering strategy, technological capability and the existence of R&D center with internal R&D investment and external knowledge search. In addition, this paper investigated the interacting effects of R&D center and technological capability on internal R&D investment and external knowledge search. Based on the results of a large scale survey on Korean manufacturing SMEs, this paper tested key hypotheses. Technology pioneering strategy has a positive effect on internal R&D investment and external knowledge search. Firms to pursue first-to-local market strategy increase both internal R&D investment and external knowledge search. Firms to pursue first-to-global market only increase internal R&D investment. The higher the technological capability, the more positive the internal R&D investment and the external knowledge search. When firms have own R&D centers, they significantly increase intern R&D investment but have no significant relationshjps with external knowledge search. There are a positive interaction effects of R&D center and technological capability on internal R&D investment. In contrast to the hypothesis, there is a negative interaction effects of R&D center and technological capability on external knowledge search activities. The main findings of this study and implications are as follows. There are differences in knowledge creation methods according to the technology strategy. Firms to develop first-to-market technology rather than general technology are actively seeking to create knowledge both inside and outside. In the process of external cooperation for the world s first technology development, it can act as an obstacle to search of external knowledge due to possibility of leakage of information or knowledge on new technology and innovations. Independent R&D center operations have a different impact on internal or external knowledge acquisition. It seems that the main functional role of the R&D center in Korean manufacturing SMEs focuses on the internal R&D development rather than external knowledge searches. It has little roles to access diverse information sources and create innovations. The interaction effect between the R&D center and the internal knowledge capability shows different results in internal R&D investment and external knowledge search. The R&D center with a high level of internal technology capability has a positive influence on internal R&D investment. This is because the securing of the technological capability through R&D center earns organizational legitimacy and top managers attention to allocate more resources. On the other hand, the interaction effect between internal technology capability level and R&D center has a negative effect on external knowledge search. This may be due to resistance to external knowledge and technology by the R&D centers not-invented here (NIH) syndrome.         This paper proposes new delay-dependent leader-following consensus criterion for multi-agent systems with time-varying delays. Specially, the randomly occurring connection information of leader is considered in the concerned system. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and utilizing reciprocally convex approach, new delay-dependent consensus criterion for the systems are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which can be easily solved by various effective optimization algorithms. One numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

        국가수준 기술로드맵의 활용도 및 개선사항 영향요인

        본 연구는 국가차원의 국가기술로드맵 활용도와 개선사항에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대해 실증 분석함으로써 향후 국가기술로드맵의 활용도 제고와 발전방향을 제시하고자 한다. 국가수준 기술로드맵의 작성과 활용이 증가함에도 불구하고 실제 과학기술 전문가들의 활용도 현황이나 개선사항에 대한 체계적인 조사분석은 상대적으로 미흡하였다. 본 연구는 국내 320명의 과학기술 분야 전문가를 대상으로 수행한 설문조사를 바탕으로 국가수준 기술로드맵의 활용도와 개선방향에 대해 분석하였다. 분석결과, 국가기술로드맵 활용도에는 전반적인 기술수준이 높고 기술로드맵 참여 경험은 활용도에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 중장기 기술전략의 세부목적에 따라 활용도에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 국가차원의 기술로드맵은 크게 기획과정, 작성과정, 결과활용에서 개선이 요구되며, 기술수준 참여경험 및 중장기 기술전략의 세부목적에 따라 서로 다른 측면에서의 향후 개선사항을 요구하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 향후 국가차원의 국가기술로드맵의 활용도 제고와 발전방향을 위한 방안을 제시하였다. This paper investigates key factors on the utilization and improvement directions of national-level technology roadmaps for technology strategies. There are increasing interest in technology roadmaps to respond to uncertain environment and explore some possible directions of future technology development. To challenge the catching-up status in innovation, technology roadmap have been widely developed both in private and public sectors. In spite of recent increasing adoption of technology roadmap, there are few empirical studies on the level of utilization and improvement directions of technology roadmap with the viewpoints from science and technology experts in national innovation system. Most of studies on technology roadmaps have argued normative recommendations and made suggestions based on case studies. This paper examines the key factors on the utilization and future direction of national-level technology roadmaps. Based on survey from 320 experts in science and technology area, this paper analyzes the level of utilization and future improvements of national level technology roadmap. The level of technological capabilities and participation experience on the roadmap development process have significant impact on the utilization of national-level technology roadmaps. Also there are three future directions to increase the usage of national-level technology roadmaps. The national-level technology roadmap should be improved as a more systematic processes including planning, progress, and outputs. Finally, this paper suggests some implications and future guidelines for national-level technology roadmaps.
