The properties of satellite galaxies are closely related to their host galaxies in galaxy groups. In cluster environments, on the other hand, the interaction between close neighbors is known to be limited. Our goal is to examine the relationships between host and satellite galaxies in the harsh environment of a galaxy cluster. To achieve this goal, we study a galaxy cluster WHL J085910.0+294957 at z = 0.30 using deep images obtained with CQUEAN CCD camera mounted on the 2.1 m Otto Struve Telescope. After member selection based on the scaling relations of photometric and structural parameters, we investigate the relationship between bright (M-i <= -18) galaxies and their faint (-18 < M-i <= -15) companions. The weighted mean color of faint companion galaxies shows no significant dependence (< 1 sigma to bootstrap uncertainties) on cluster-centric distance and local luminosity density as well as the luminosity and concentration of an adjacent bright galaxy. However, the weighted mean color shows marginal dependence (similar to 2.2 sigma) on the color of an adjacent bright galaxy when the sample is limited to bright galaxies with at least two faint companions. By using a permutation test, we confirm that the correlation in color between bright galaxies and their faint companions in this cluster is statistically significant with a confidence level of 98.7%. The statistical significance increases if we additionally remove non-members using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey photometric redshift information (similar to 2.6 sigma and 99.3%). Our results suggest three possible scenarios: (1) vestiges of infallen groups, (2) dwarf capturing, and (3) tidal tearing of bright galaxies.

Prognostics and health management (PHM) is recently converging throughout the industry, one of the trending issue is to detect abnormal conditions at decanter centrifuge during water treatment facilities. Wastewater treatment operation produces corrosive gas which results failures on attached sensors. This scenario causes frequent sensor replacement and requires highly qualified manager’s visual inspection while replacing important parts such as bearings and screws. In this paper, we propose anomaly detection by measuring the vibration of the decanter centrifuge based on the video camera images. Measuring the vibration of the screw decanter by applying the optical flow technique, the amount of movement change of the corresponding pixel is measured and fed into the LSTM model. As a result, it is possible to detect the normal/warning/dangerous state based on LSTM classification. In the future work, we aim to gather more abnormal data in order to increase the further accuracy so that it can be utilized in the field of industry.

This study investigates the career processes of six chef-entrepreneurs’ success in the urban context of Klang Valley, Malaysia. A multiple-case study approach was employed to gain insights into each chef’s personal careers, where a total of nine ‘career chapters’ were narrated, in which began from each chef’s initial passion in the field of food to their eventual entrepreneurial successes. In essence, this study provides an understanding of not only the career processes of Malaysian millennial chefs, but also entrepreneurs through the theoretical basis of existing literature. It helps industry practitioners in understanding the needs, wants, and ambitions of chefs of the millennial generation, which suggests that the chef profession represents one of not only culinary technicians, but also entrepreneurial and business prowess.

In 2016, the 4th industrial revolution, represented by hyper-connected and hyper-intelligent technologies, began, and the global automobile industry is now focusing on the development of smart cars, such as driverless vehicles, connected vehicles, and electric vehicles. In particular, as electric vehicles with autonomous driving features are to be manufactured and sold, the precise prediction of driving distances has become more important. If the actual driving distance is shorter than the prediction of the available driving distance, the autonomous vehicle will stop on the way to its destination. Moreover, the route for electric vehicles should be determined by considering the location of charging stations and available driving distance. Existing studies about the expected driving distance do not appropriately reflect all of the various circumstances, components, and variables, thus restricting their predictive performance. In particular, current methods do not precisely predict the running resistance of electric vehicles, or changes in driving distance caused by the use of electrical functions in such vehicles. Thus, a vehicle energy model for predicting the exact driving distance of an electric vehicle is described in this paper, considering the driving speed, road status, tire pressure, temperature, driving altitude, regenerative braking, and other factors. Finally, the proposed model for predicting the driving distance of electric vehicles was confirmed to be feasible by an in-vehicle test on real roads.
