Furfural, an organic solvent, is widely used as synthetic component material in producing chemical products. However, furfural has been reported that it shows strong toxicities to human being showing intense stimulus to skin, eyes, mucous membrane and nerve system. It is also known to cause anemia, liver cirrhosis, kidney failure and genetic toxicity in the human being working in the exposed area. LD50 of furfural for peritoneal injected mouse has been known around 20mg/kg, but the acute toxicity on aquatic organisms such as fish, daphnid or algae are not well known, compared to those on rodents. In this experiment, we studied on the fish toxicity of furfural using Japanese Meclaka (Oryzias latipes) and Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio). We also observed histological changes in the fish organs. The LC50s were 12.8 mg/L in Japanese Medaka and 21.8 mg/L in Common Carp, respectively. When Common Carps were exposed to 120 mg/L of furfural concentration for 30 minutes, blood congestion in gills and lysis of secondary lamella were shown. Though the muscle of caudal fin was not completely eroded, its epidermic cells were shown to be necrotic in various parts. Tissue atrophy and cell necrosis were also shown in the liver of Common Carps exposed to furfural. From these results, furfural seems to cause histological damages on liver, an internal organ as well as on external organs such as gills and fins eventhough the fish were exposed for a short-term.

Prognostics and health management (PHM) is recently converging throughout the industry, one of the trending issue is to detect abnormal conditions at decanter centrifuge during water treatment facilities. Wastewater treatment operation produces corrosive gas which results failures on attached sensors. This scenario causes frequent sensor replacement and requires highly qualified manager’s visual inspection while replacing important parts such as bearings and screws. In this paper, we propose anomaly detection by measuring the vibration of the decanter centrifuge based on the video camera images. Measuring the vibration of the screw decanter by applying the optical flow technique, the amount of movement change of the corresponding pixel is measured and fed into the LSTM model. As a result, it is possible to detect the normal/warning/dangerous state based on LSTM classification. In the future work, we aim to gather more abnormal data in order to increase the further accuracy so that it can be utilized in the field of industry.

<P>We report the properties of the interacting S0 galaxy NGC 5195 (M51B), revealed in a pixel analysis using the Hubble Space Telescope/Advanced Camera for Surveys images in the F435W, F555W, and F814W (BVI) bands. We analyze the pixel color-magnitude diagram (pCMD) of NGC 5195, focusing on the properties of its red and blue pixel sequences and the difference from the pCMD of NGC 5194 (M51A; the spiral galaxy interacting with NGC 5195). The red pixel sequence of NGC 5195 is redder than that of NGC 5194, which corresponds to the difference in the dust optical depth of 2 < Delta tau(V) < 4 at fixed age and metallicity. The blue pixel sequence of NGC 5195 is very weak and spatially corresponds to the tidal bridge between the two interacting galaxies. This implies that the blue pixel sequence is not an ordinary feature in the pCMD of an early-type galaxy, but that it is a transient feature of star formation caused by the galaxy-galaxy interaction. We also find a difference in the shapes of the red pixel sequences on the pixel color-color diagrams (pCCDs) of NGC 5194 and NGC 5195. We investigate the spatial distributions of the pCCD-based pixel stellar populations. The young population fraction in the tidal bridge area is larger than that in other areas by a factor > 15. Along the tidal bridge, young populations seem to be clumped particularly at the middle point of the bridge. On the other hand, the dusty population shows a relatively wide distribution between the tidal bridge and the center of NGC 5195.</P>
