      • Optimization of Cu, Hg and Cd removal by Enterobacter cloacae by ferric ammonium citrate precipitation

        Singh, Rashmi R.,Tipre, Devayani R.,Dave, Shailesh R. Techno-Press 2014 Advances in environmental research Vol.3 No.4

Iron precipitating organisms play a significant role in the formation of ferric hydroxide precipitate, which acts as strong adsorbent for toxic metal. In this respect four different iron precipitating cultures were isolated from Hutti gold mine surface winze water sample on citrate agar medium. The best isolate was screened out for metal removal study on the basis of fast visual iron precipitation. The selected isolate was identified as Enterobacter sp. based on routine biochemical tests and Biolog GN microplate results and as Enterobacter cloacae subsp. dissolvens by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis (GenBank accession number EU429448). Influence of medium composition, medium initial pH, the influence of inoculum size, effect of various media and ferric ammonium citrate concentration were studied on metal removal in shake flask experiments. Under the optimized conditions studied, E. cloacae showed $94{\pm}2$, $95{\pm}2$ and $70{\pm}2%$ of cadmium, copper and mercury removal from a simulated waste in shake flask studies. In lab scale column reactor more than 85% of copper and mercury removal was achieved.

Multidetector computed tomography in preoperative planning for temporomandibular joint ankylosis: A pictorial review and proposed structured reporting format

Singh, Rashmi,Bhalla, Ashu Seith,Manchanda, Smita,Roychoudhury, Ajoy Korean Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology 2021 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.51 No.3

Ankylosis of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a disabling disease resulting from fibrous or bony fusion of the mandibular condyle and the glenoid fossa. Early diagnosis and surgical treatment are essential to prevent facial deformity and other complications. Conventional radiography has limitations in demonstrating the true extent of ankylosis. It is important for surgeons to be aware of the size and degree of bony ankylosis in order to perform complete resection of the ankylotic mass. In addition, a detailed evaluation of the relationship with adjacent vital structures such as the internal maxillary artery, inferior alveolar nerve canal, external auditory canal, and skull base are crucial to avoid iatrogenic injury. Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) is the current imaging modality of choice for preoperative assessments. Herein, the authors propose a structured CT reporting template for TMJ ankylosis to strengthen the value of the preoperative imaging report and to reduce the rates of intraoperative complications and recurrence.

Incorporation of Graphitic Porous Carbon for Synthesis of Composite Carbon Aerogel with Enhanced Electrochemical Performance

        Singh, Ashish,Kohli, D.K.,Singh, Rashmi,Bhartiya, Sushmita,Singh, M.K.,Karnal, A.K. The Korean Electrochemical Society 2021 Journal of electrochemical science and technology Vol.12 No.2

We report, synthesis of high surface area composite carbon aerogel using additive based polymerization technique by incorporating graphitic porous carbon as additive. This additive was separately prepared using sol-gel polymerization of resorcinol-furfuraldehyde in iso-propyl alcohol medium at much above the routine gelation temperature to yield porous carbon (CA-IPA) having graphitic layered morphology. CA-IPA exhibited a unique combination of meso-pore dominated surface area (~ 700 m2/g) and good conductivity of ~ 300 S/m. The composite carbon aerogel (CCA) was synthesized by traditional aqueous medium based resorcinol-formaldehyde gelation with CA-IPA as additive. The presence of CA-IPA favored enhanced meso-porosity as well as contributed to improvement in bulk conductivity. Based on the surface area characteristics, CCA-8 composition having 8% additive was found to be optimum. It showed specific surface area of ~ 2056 m2/g, mesopore area of 827 m2/g and electrical conductivity of 180 S/m. The electrode formed with CCA-8 showed improved electrochemical behavior, with specific capacitance of 148 F/g & ESR < 1 Ω, making it a better choice as super capacitor for energy storage applications.

Ruthenium doped carbon aerogel with CO2 surface activation for enhanced electrochemical capacitance

        Ashish Singh,D.K. Kohli,Sushmita Bhartiya,Rashmi Singh,M.K. Singh,P.K. Gupta 한국물리학회 2017 Current Applied Physics Vol.17 No.6

With the aim of enhancement of electrochemical capacitance, CO2 activation of carbon aerogel (CA) prepared by polycondensation of resorcinol with formaldehyde was performed to obtain activated carbon aerogel (ACA) having improved surface area properties. Ruthenium oxide nano-particles were loaded by impregnation method for utilizing pseudo-capacitive property of ruthenium oxide (RuO2) and the effect of activation treatment was studied. RuO2 loading of 20% by weight was accomplished in CA and ACA to synthesize RuO2 doped carbon aerogel (CA/RuO2) and activated carbon aerogel (ACA/RuO2). While the specific capacitance of carbon aerogel improved from 95 to 153 F/g on activation, RuO2 loading further led to enhancement in capacitance and specific capacitance of 308 F/g was obtained for ACA/ RuO2. The studies being important for Ru economy, showed the influence of surface area enhancement of base matrix in achieving high specific capacitance.

Development of an Autonomous UAS for on Air Surveillance and Object Detection: A Real Execution

        Singh Anubhav,Prakash Khaushik,Manda Praneet Ayush,Sona Deepika Rani,Das Rashmi Ranjan 대한전기학회 2024 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.19 No.1

Uninhabited Aerial System (UAS), or drones, are aircraft that could be remotely controlled and managed by a person or have varying techniques, like autopilot support, and even fully autonomous modes that do not require human intervention. In this paper, the drone can be remotely controlled and used for spying, among other things. The Pixhawk fight controller, combined with a transmitter and a receiver to transmit and receive radio signals for the drone’s remote control, makes up the brains of the drone. The main components of this system are accompanied by four propellers for fight. The use of an electronic speed controller (ESC) has been implemented to control and regulate the drone’s speed. Moreover, a lithium polymer battery has been used to power up the drone. As previously indicated, the installation of the ESP Camera module to this drone has been implemented, which will be utilized for live footage taken throughout its fight and to be able to relay that footage to the user. The footage is analyzed for image processing and identifying objects in the video using the latest You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm as surveillance is the primary function of this system.

Determinants of Shopping Experience for Mall Shoppers: Empirical Investigation in an Emerging City of Raipur (India)

Singh, Harvinder,Prashar, Sanjeev,Agarwal, Rashmi,Sharma, Tarun Kumar KNU The Institute of Management Economy Research 2014 Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Vol.5 No.1

Shopping malls have become key players in the Indian retail space. Even in upcoming Indian towns, malls have been mushrooming. Raipur, the capital city of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh has witnessed the growth over the last few years. However, this unplanned growth of malls in cities is expected to lead to oversupply of mall space in the near future, making things difficult for mall developers. The study is an attempt to identify appropriate strategies for mall developers to iron out such kinks. This paper presents 'shopping experience' as a tool to compete, succeed and explore its composition in terms of its constituent factors. The paper uses Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) on a non-probability sample of 350 respondents. It condenses a set of twenty-two mall variables into five factors that directly influence the shopping experience. These factors included ambience, infrastructure, marketing focus, convenience and safety and security. In terms of significance, shoppers assigned different weightage to each of these factors. The study shed light on interesting insights regarding the expectations of mall shoppers in the city of Raipur. The results though interesting, may be extended to different social, economic and geographic contexts to check the universality. While strategizing, mall developers must assign proportionate effort on the factors based on the respective contribution to shopping experience. In light of intensifying competition in Raipur, the study is significant for future prospects of malls. In the absence of a scientific and objective basis, the developers run risk of making wrong investment and management decisions. This paper is a useful addition to the body of knowledge on management of shopping malls in India and is unique in terms of its focus on mall shoppers in the smaller Indian cities like Raipur.

Payal Kothari,Aditi Mathur,Rashmi Singh Chauhan,Meenakshi Nankar,Sunnypriyatham Tirupathi,Ashrita Suvarna The Korean Dental Society of Anesthsiology 2023 Journal of Dental Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Vol.23 No.3

Background: Dental anxiety is a matter of serious concern to pediatric dentists as it may impede the efficient delivery of dental care. If not adequately resolved, a persistent negative response pattern may emerge. Thaumaturgy, commonly known as magic trick, has become popular recently. It is a tool that distracts and relaxes the child by using magic trick while the dentist performs necessary treatment. Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Thaumaturgic aid in alleviation of anxiety in 4-6 - year-old children during administration of local anesthesia using the inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) technique. Methods: Thirty children aged between 4-6 years with dental anxiety requiring IANB were included in this study. Patients were divided equally into two groups: Group I, thaumaturgic aid group and Group II, conventional non-pharmacological group using randomization. Anxiety was measured before and after using the intervention with Raghavendra Madhuri Sujata-Pictorial scale (RMS-PS), Venham's anxiety rating scale, and pulse rate. All the data were tabulated and compared using statistical analysis. Results: Children in thaumaturgy group (Group- I) exhibited significantly lower anxiety during IANB in comparison with children in the conventional group (Group- II) and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Magic tricks are effective in reducing anxiety among young children during IANB; Moreover, it expands the arsenal of behavior guidance techniques for treatment of children with anxiety and plays an important role in shaping the behavior of a child in pediatric dentistry.
