Identification of loci and genes for growth related traits from a genome-wide association study in a slow- 3 fast-growing broiler chicken cross

        Ranran Liu,Yanfa Sun,Guiping Zhao,Hongyang Wang,Maiqing Zheng,Peng Li,Li Liu,Jie Wen 한국유전학회 2015 Genes & Genomics Vol.37 No.10

Identification of functional genes for multifactorial traits is an ongoing priority. A genome-wide association study and gene expression study for weight and carcass composition traits is presented here using a F2 resource population derived from a cross between slowand fast-growing chicken breeds. For weight traits, eight SNPs on GGA4 plus one SNP on GGA27 were significantly associated with two or more target traits, including body weight (BW) at day 56, BW93, carcass weight, eviscerated weight, breast weight (BrW), thigh muscle weight (ThW) and wing weight. Of 11candidate genes identified near significant SNPs, three were shown by Q-PCR to be differentially expressed in breast muscle between chickens selected from phenotypic extremes of carcass weight and BrW, including ligand dependent nuclear receptor corepressor-like protein and LIM domainbinding factor 2. For major carcass composition traits, nine significant SNPs on GGA1, GGAZ and GGA6 were identified as being associated with BrW and/or percentage. The wings apart-like homolog (Drosophila, WAPAL) on GGA6 had the most significant association with percentage of ThW.

Novel In Situ Synthesized Fe@C Magnetic Nanocapsules Used as Adsorbent for Removal of Organic Dyes and Its Recycling

        Ranran Li,Jieyi Yu,Asif Shah,Xinglong Dong,Xiaona Li,Hongtao Yu,Xie Quan,Youngguan Jung 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2016 NANO Vol.11 No.2

Core/shell type carbon-coated Fe nanocapsules (Fe@C NCs) were in situ synthesized by DC arcdischarge plasma method in methane atmosphere. Such Fe nanocapsules have saturation magnetization of 29.32 emu/g and specific surface area of 85.86 m2/g. The carbon shell of Fe@C NCs was functionalized with oxygen-containing groups (such as –OH or –COOH) by using H2O2. The adsorption of organic dye, e.g., methylene blue (MB) was systematically investigated in different conditions, such as contact time, pH values and temperature. The maximum adsorption capacity (46.5 mg/g) was calculated by fitting the adsorption isotherms with Langmuir model, coincident with the experimental result of 44.5 mg/g. Kinetics data supported pseudo-second order model, and the thermodynamic process of adsorption was revealed as endothermic and spontaneous physisorption. The MB-absorbed Fe@C NCs can be entirely separated from the contaminative solution by a magnetic field and then successfully cycled for regeneration. After repetitive cycles of the adsorption/desorption experiments for five times, the removal efficiency can be maintained over 90%.

Decentralized Output Regulation of a New Class of Interconnected Uncertain Nonlinear Systems

Ranran Li 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2018 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.16 No.4

In the current paper the decentralized output regulation problem of a new class of interconnected uncertain nonlinear systems is considered. A novel decentralized high-gain input driven filter is proposed such that the output feedback based control law can be designed. Moreover, a robust multi-input changing supply function technique is presented such that the stability analysis can be performed by the non-quadratic Lyapunov functions. Therefore, the assumptions on the interconnection terms can be removed. Finally the proposed decentralized control laws are applied to the interconnected mass-spring systems immersed in the liquid and the simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Robust Decentralized Output Regulation of Heterogeneous Uncertain Linear Systems with Multiple Leaders via Distributed Adaptive Protocols

Ranran Li,Huaitao Shi 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2016 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.14 No.5

In the current paper we consider the robust decentralized output regulation of heterogeneous uncertainlinear systems with multiple leaders. A novel class of distributed observers is proposed. The states of the distributedobservers synchronize to the states of their leaders, respectively. In contrast to the existing results, we consider amore general class of systems and furthermore we utilize the adaptive protocols to estimate the coupling weightsbetween neighboring agents online. Therefore the observers and internal model based control laws can be designedin a purely distributed way, i.e., without knowledge of the associated matrix of the network topology. Finally weapply the proposed methods to solve the synchronization problem of a group of RLC networks and the simulationresults show the effectiveness of the methods.

Polymorphisms of Ionotropic Glutamate Receptor-Related Genes and the Risk of Autism Spectrum Disorder in a Chinese Population

        Xinyan Xie,Fang Hou,Li Li,Yanlin Chen,Lingfei Liu,Xiu Luo1,Huaiting Gu,Xin Li,Jiajia Zhang,Jianhua Gong,Ranran Song 대한신경정신의학회 2019 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.16 No.5

Objective: To evaluate the association of GRIK2 and NLGN1 with autism spectrum disorder in a Chinese population. Methods: We performed spatio-temporal expression analysis of GRIK2 and NLGN1 in the developing prefrontal cortex, and examined the expression of the genes in ASD cases and healthy controls using the GSE38322 data set. Following, we performed a case-control study in a Chinese population. Results: The analysis using the publicly available expression data showed that GRIK2 and NLGN1 may have a role in the development of human brain and contribute to the risk of ASD. Later genetic analysis in the Chinese population showed that the GRIK2 rs6922753 for the T allele, TC genotype and dominant model played a significant protective role in ASD susceptibility (respectively: OR=0.840, p=0.023; OR=0.802, p=0.038; OR=0.791, p=0.020). The NLGN1 rs9855544 for the G allele and GG genotype played a significant protective role in ASD susceptibility (respectively: OR=0.844, p=0.019; OR=0.717, p=0.022). After adjusting p values, the statistical significance was lost (p>0.05). Conclusion: Our results suggested that GRIK2 rs6922753 and NLGN1 rs9855544 might not confer susceptibility to ASD in the Chinese population.

Testing for covariance matrices in time-varying coefficient panel datamodels with fixed effects

Ranran Chen,Gaorong Li,Sanying Feng 한국통계학회 2020 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.49 No.1

In this paper, we study the tests for sphericity and identity of covariance matrices in time-varying coefficient high-dimensional panel data models with fixed effects. In order to construct the effective test statistics and avoid the influence of the unknown fixed effects, we apply the difference method to eliminate the dependence of the residual sample, and further construct test statistics using the trace estimators of the covariance matrices. For the estimators of the coefficient functions, we use the local linear dummy variable method. Under some regularity conditions, we study the asymptotic property of the estimators and establish the asymptotic distributions of our proposed test statistics without specifying an explicit relationship between the cross-sectional and the time series dimensions. We further show that the test statistics are asymptotic distribution-free. Subsequently simulation studies are carried out to evaluate our proposed methods. In order to assess the performance of our proposed test method, we compare with the existing test methods in panel data linear models with fixed effects.

The structure of organotin oxides playing a key role on the transesterification of dimethyl carbonate with hydrogenated bisphenol A

        Ranran Xia,Zhenhuan Li,Bo-wen Cheng,Kunmei Su 한국화학공학회 2014 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.31 No.3

Transesterification of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) with hydrogenated bisphenol A (HBPA) was studiedover various organotin oxides under pressured condition without removal of by-producing methanol. Bu2SnO displayedhigher activities in HBPA conversion and bis-methylcarbonate of hydrogenated bisphenol-A (BMHBPA) synthesis, and HBPA conversion and BMHBPA selectivity reached 97.4% and 84.0%. However, when Ph2SnO was used as catalyst,HBPA conversion and BMHBPA selectivity decreased to 81.5 and 37.7%. Catalyst steric hindrance significantlyinfluenced HBPA conversion and BMHBPA formation, and π-d interaction between phenyl ring and Sn wasunfavorable for the transesterification of HBPA with DMC. Moreover, the catalytic system was further optimized.

KH₂PO₄-aided soil washing for removing arsenic from water-stable soil aggregates collected in southern China

        Ranran Zhao,Xiaojun Li,Zhiguo Zhang,Guanghui Zhao 대한환경공학회 2016 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.21 No.3

Removal of arsenic (As) from soil aggregates with particle sizes of > 2.0, 2.0-0.25, 0.25-0.053, < 0.053 mm by soil washing of KH₂PO₄ and the kinetics of As releasing from soil aggregates were investigated. Effects of KH₂PO₄ concentration, ratio of liquid/soil and washing duration on the removal were fully explored. The results showed that the high As removal was obtained in > 2 mm aggregates (48.56%) and < 0.053 mm aggregates (42.88%) under the optimum condition (KH₂PO₄ concentration of 0.1 mol/L, and liquid/soil ratio (10 mL/g) for 360 min). 62.82% of As was extracted from aggregates with size less than 0.25 mm. Only 11.88% was contributed by the large aggregates (> 2.0mm). Using KH₂PO₄ washing, it was also found that extracted As is mainly in form of either specifically sorbed As or As associated with oxides of Fe and Al. Elovich model can describe the removal process of As more precisely than Two-constant kinetic models. The optimum washing conditions and removal process is also applied to bulk soil. This technique in this study is reliable, cost-effective and offers a great potential for practical application in soil remediation.

A review on the risk, prevention and control of cooling water intake blockage in coastal nuclear power plants

        Heshan Lin,Shuyi Zhang,Ranran Cao,Shihao Yu,Wei Bai,Rongyong Zhang,Jia Yang,Li Dai,Jianxin Chen,Yu Zhang,Hongni Xu,Kun Liu,Xinke Zhang Korean Nuclear Society 2024 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.56 No.2

In recent decades, numerous instances of blockages have been reported in coastal nuclear power plants globally, leading to serious safety accidents such as power reduction, manual or automatic power loss, or shutdown of nuclear power units. Loss or shortage of cooling water may compromise the reliability of the cooling water system, thus threatening the operational safety of power plants and resulting in revenue reduction. This study provides a comprehensive review of the current state of cooling water system safety in coastal nuclear power plants worldwide and the common challenges they face, as well as the relevant research on cooling water system safety issues. The research overview and progress in investigation methods, outbreak mechanisms, prevention and control measures, and practical cases of blockages were summarized. Despite existing research, there are still many shortcomings regarding the pertinence, comprehensiveness and prospects of related research, and many problems urgently need to be solved. The most fundamental concern involves understanding the list of potential risks of blockages and their spatially distributed effects in surrounding waters. Furthermore, knowledge of the biological cycles and ecological habits of key organisms is essential for implementing risk prevention and control and for building a scientific and effective monitoring system.
