Spinal dural arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) are rare and can result in spinal cord dysfunction. We present one such case wherein the patient presented with a venous congestive myelopathy. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a syrinx formation, spinal cord edema, and flow voids. Digital subtraction angiography confirmed the dural AVF, which was treated with embolization. The syrinx disappeared, other spinal cord changes improved, and the patient had remarkable clinical improvement. The case is presented to draw attention to the rare formation of a syrinx in a spinal dural arteriovenous fistula and its disappearance after successful embolization.
Development of a Cajanus cajanifolius-based CMS Hybrid Technology in Pigeonpea

Pigeonpea is an important food legume of the semi-arid tropics grown mainly under subsistence agriculture. As a first step to address the five decades-long yield stagnation, a proof-of-concept for a commercially viable CMS-based hybrid technology with high standard heterosis and fertility restoration has been demonstrated. Six generations of backcrossing and selection for male sterility, and agronomic superiority using a Cajanus cajanifolius- (A4 cytoplasm) based CMS donor (ICPA 2039) and a medium-maturity group recurrent parent ICPL 20176 (ICPB 2043) which resulted in a stable male sterile line (ICPA 2043) with near-perfect male sterility and superior agronomic traits. Following backcrossing and selections, the A-line (ICPA 2043) appeared to be morphologically similar in terms of various qualitative and quantitative traits compared to the B-line (ICPB 2043). However, differences between ICPA 2043 and ICPB 2043 were observed for days to maturity, 100-seed weight, pods plant-1, and seed weight plant-1. These differences may not be genetic but physiological. The best heterotic restorer line selected in a cross (ICPH 2671) combination restored a mean of 96.49% male fertility in 36 environments (12 locations, 3 years). Present investigation did not reveal significant G×E interaction for fertility restoration, indicating the possibility of obtaining high and stable grain yields in the pigeonpea growing areas of South and Central India.

Conducting polymers have been concerned the ample interest of scientific community due to its special physical and chemical properties. Among this group of materials, the Polyaniline (PANI) merits special attention due to its high thermal and chemical stability under normal conditions, simple process of polymerization low cost and well-studied electrochemical characteristics. In the present work, Density functional theory (DFT) method has been applied for geometry optimization using B3LYP/6-31G** basis set, implemented on Gaussian 09 software package. The well-known model, time-dependent DFT (TDDFT) calculations at the UB3LYP/6-31G(d) level have been performed to investigate the tunable nature, i.e., doping processes, of polyaniline (PANI). The calculated theoretical data show strong correlation with the recent experimental reports, which validates our computational protocol. The calculated properties are extrapolated to the polymer (PANI) through a second-order polynomial fit. Changes in band gap, conductivity, and resistance of (PANI_n) and (PANI_n) (where n = 1-4 and) were studied. Further we have also synthesized and characterized the Polyaniline. The deviations in the obtained results have clearly shown the promising of Polyaniline as a quantity sensitive material that may be useful for the sensing application.

Purpose: Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is an established modality for renal calculi. Its role for large stones is being questioned. A novel model of temporary double J (DJ) stenting followed by ESWL was devised and outcomes were assessed. Materials and Methods: The study included 95 patients with renal calculi sized 1 to 2 cm. Patients were randomized into 3 groups. Group 1 received ESWL only, whereas group 2 underwent stenting followed by ESWL. In group 3, a distinct model was applied in which the stent was kept for 1 week and then removed, followed by ESWL. Procedural details, analgesic requirements, and outcome were analyzed. Results: Eighty-eight patients (male, 47; female, 41) were available for analysis. The patients' mean age was 37.9±10.9 years. Stone profile was similar among groups. Group 3 received fewer shocks (mean, 3,155) than did group 1 (mean, 3,859; p=0.05) or group 2 (mean, 3,872; p=0.04). The fragmentation rate was similar in group 3 (96.7%) and groups 1 (81.5%, p=0.12) and 2 (87.1%, p=0.16). Overall clearance in group 3 was significantly improved (83.3%) compared with that in groups 1 (63.0%, p=0.02) and 2 (64.5%, p=0.02) and was maintained even in lower pole stones. The percentage successful outcome in groups 1, 2, and 3 was 66.7%, 64.5%, and 83.3%, respectively (p=0.21). The analgesic requirement in group 2 was higher than in the other groups (p=0.00). Group 2 patients also had more grade IIIa (2/3) and IIIB (1/2) complications. Conclusions: Stenting adversely affects stone clearance and also makes the later course uncomfortable. Our model of brief stenting followed by ESWL provided better clearance, comfort, and a modest improvement in outcome with fewer sittings and steinstrasse in selected patients with large renal calculi.

Wireless Sensor Network has many sensor nodes that are used to monitor the physical and environmental condition such as Vibration, Temperature Sound and so on. In Wireless sensor network all sensor cooperately pass their data to the base station from where data are transmitted via satellite or internet to the base station. Wireless sensor network has some constraints like power or energy is limited, computational capability is limited, storage capability is limited. Energy efficiency of sensor nodes is very big issue in wireless sensor network because sensor nodes have low energy. To improve energy-efficiency of sensor nodes various routing protocols have been proposed in wireless sensor network like Cluster based routing protocols-LEACH (Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), LEACH-C (Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy-Centralized), EEPSC (Energy-Efficient Protocol with Static Clustering), Cross-layered modification technique and other routing protocols like AODV, DSR, Bellman Ford, DSDV and DYMO Routing protocols. So in this work we try to analyze the performance of AODV, DYMO and DSR routing protocol for improvement Quality of Service (QoS) in Wireless Sensor Network. The parameters used for the performance analysis include average jitter, throughput, average end to end delay.
Case Report : Periosteal nociceptors induced hypotension and bradycardia under spinal anesthesia

The sudden hemodynamic disturbance in the perioperative period can occur because of various surgical and anesthetic reasons but hemodynamic collapse due to noxious stimulus of periosteum stripping has not been described. We report two cases of severe hypotension and bradycardia during periosteum stripping in orthopedic surgery under subarachnoid block even though the block level was adequate. In our patients, hemodynamic collapse occurred specifically at a moment when surgeons manipulated periosteum and fall in blood pressure and heart rate was sudden in onset. The hemodynamic disturbance did not appear to be related to vagally mediated or due toblockade of sympathetic fibers but appeared to be related to periosteal nociceptors. Flexural-Torsional Coupled Vibration of Slewing Beams Using Various Types of Orthogonal Polynomials

Dynamic behavior of flexural-torsional coupled vibration of rotating beams using the Rayleigh-Ritz method with orthogonal polynomials as basis functions is studied. Performance of various orthogonal polynomials is compared to each other in terms of their efficiency and accuracy in determining the required natural frequencies. Orthogonal polynomials and functions studied in the present work are; Legendre, Chebyshev, integrated Legendre, modified Duncan polynomials, the special trigonometric functions used in conjunction with Hermite cubics, and beam characteristic orthogonal polynomials. A total of 5 cases of beam boundary conditions and rotation are studied for their natural frequencies. The obtained natural frequencies and mode shapes are compared to those available in various references and the results for coupled flexural-torsional vibrations are especially compared to both previously available references and with those obtained using NASTRAN finite element package. Among all the examined orthogonal functions, Legendre orthogonal polynomials are the most efficient in overall CPU time, mainly because of ease in performing the integration required for determining the stiffness and mass matrices.
