        The MALATANG Survey: The <i>L</i><sub>GAS</sub>-<i>L</i><sub>IR</sub> Correlation on Sub-kiloparsec Scale in Six Nearby Star-forming Galaxies as Traced by HCN <i>J</i> = 4 → 3 and HCO<sup>+</sup><i>J</i> = 4 → 3

        <P>We present HCN J = 4 -> 3 and HCO+ J = 4 -> 3 maps of six nearby star-forming galaxies, NGC 253, NGC 1068, IC 342, M82, M83, and NGC 6946, obtained with the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope as part of the MALATANG survey. All galaxies were mapped in the central 2' x 2' region at 14 '' (FWHM) resolution (corresponding to linear scales of similar to 0.2-1.0 kpc). The L-IR-L'(dense) relation, where the dense gas is traced by the HCN J = 4 -> 3 and the HCO+ J = 4 -> 3 emission, measured in our sample of spatially resolved galaxies is found to follow the linear correlation established globally in galaxies within the scatter. We find that the luminosity ratio, L-IR/L'(dense), shows systematic variations with L-IR within individual spatially resolved galaxies, whereas the galaxy-integrated ratios vary little. A rising trend is also found between L-IR/L'(dense) ratio and the warm-dust temperature gauged by the 70 mu m/100 mu m flux ratio. We find that the luminosity ratios of IR/HCN (4-3) and IR/HCO+ (4-3), which can be taken as a proxy for the star formation efficiency (SFE) in the dense molecular gas (SFEdense), appear to be nearly independent of the dense gas fraction (f(dense)) for our sample of galaxies. The SFE of the total molecular gas (SFEmol) is found to increase substantially with f(dense) when combining our data with those on local (ultra) luminous infrared galaxies and high-z quasars. The mean L'(HCN(4-3))/L'(HCO+(4-3)) line ratio measured for the six targeted galaxies is 0.9 +/- 0.6. No significant correlation is found for the L'(HCN(4-3)) L'(HCO+(4-3)) ratio with the star formation rate as traced by L-IR, nor with the warm-dust temperature, for the different populations of galaxies.</P>

        In this paper, we introduce a new method to solve the problem of output tracking control for a class ofgeneralized high-order uncertain nonlinear systems with disturbance. A key contribution of this paper is a resultrelating its serious uncertainties including unknown high-order terms, unknown nonlinear functions and the signalto be tracked. The main result is that the tracking error belongs to a prescribed small neighborhood of the origin infinite time. Design procedure is presented by improved adding a power integrator method.

      • Combination of FDG PET/CT and Contrast-Enhanced MSCT in Detecting Lymph Node Metastasis of Esophageal Cancer

        Background: Lymph node metastasis is believed to be a dependent negative prognostic factor of esophageal cancer. To explore detection methods with high sensitivity and accuracy for metastases to regional and distant lymph nodes in the clinic is of great significance. This study focused on clinical application of FDG PET/CT and contrast-enhanced multiple-slice helical computed tomography (MSCT) in lymph node staging of esophageal cancer. Materials and Methods: One hundred and fifteen cases were examined with enhanced 64-slice-MSCT scan, and FDG PET/CT imaging was conducted for neck, chest and upper abdomen within one week. The primary lesion, location and numbers of metastatic lymph nodes were observed. Surgery was performed within one week after FDG PET/CT detection. All resected lesions were confirmed histopathologically as the gold standard. Comparative analysis of the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy based on FDG PET/CT and MSCT was conducted. Results: There were 946 lymph node groups resected during surgery from 115 patients, and 221 were confirmed to have metastasis pathologically. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy of FDG PET/CT in detecting lymph node metastasis were 74.7%, 97.2% and 92.0%, while with MSCT they were 64.7%, 96.4%, and 89.0%, respectively. A significance difference was observed in sensitivity (p=0.030), but not the others (p>0.05). The accuracy of FDG PET/CT in detecting regional lymph node with or without metastasis were 91.9%, as compared to 89.4% for MSCT, while FDG PET/CT and MSCT values for detecting distant lymph node with or without metastasis were 94.4% and 94.7%. No significant difference was observed for either regional or distant lymph node metastasis. Additionally, for detecting para-esophageal lymph nodes metastasis, the sensitivity of FDG PET/CT was 72%, compared with 54.7% for MSCT (p=0.029). Conclusions: FDG PET/CT is more sensitive than MSCT in detecting lymph node metastasis, especially for para-esophageal lymph nodes in esophageal cancer cases, although no significant difference was observed between FDG PET/CT and MSCT in detecting both regional and distant lymph node metastasis. However, enhanced MSCT was found to be of great value in distinguishing false negative metastatic lymph nodes from FDG PET/CT. The combination of FDG PET/CT with MSCT should improve the accuracy in lymph node metastasis staging of esophageal cancer.

        Performance Prediction of TBM Disc Cutting on Marble Rock under Different Load Cases

        A series of disc cutting tests was conducted with a single disc cutter (216 mm diameter) and a single rock type (a marble) byapplying different loads. Normal, rolling and side forces were measured for a series of spacings and penetrations, from which othercutting parameters also were calculated. The rock chips and fines were carefully collected and analyzed. Specific Energy (SE)considerations indicate that the optimum cutting condition is existed with the ratio of S/P between 9 and 12 when applying the staticloading. However, when the combination of static and impact loading is applied, the optimum cutting conditions was estimated withthe ratio of S/P between 16 and 19. It shows that the optimal spaces become larger after adding the combination of static and impactloading. The relationship between rolling force and normal force is close and consistent: whether applying the static loading or thecombination of static and impact loading, a nearly linear rise of the ratio of rolling force to normal force with increased penetration,and, conversely, a nearly unchanged ratio with increases in spacing. The grain size distribution curves show that larger chip size andlesser fines are produced when applying the combination of static and impact loading and the degree of crushing size tends to beuniform distribution.

        중국 피소추자의 효과적인 변호제도에 관한 검시와 전망

        피소추자의 자기변호권과 변호사변호권은 피소추자의 가장 중요한 2가지 형사소송권리이다. 효과적인 변호제도의 수립은 피소추자의 변호권을 보장하는 관건이다. 중국 형사소송법이 개정되기 이전에는 변호제도에 대한 문제제기가 많았다. 개정 후의 형사소송법 및 관련 해석은 피소추자가 조사단계에서 변호사변호를 허가하여 변호사와 피소추자의 소송권리범위를 넓히고 대등한 보장대책을 강화하게 되었다. 그러나 수정된 내용을 실천하는 과정에서는 아직까지 많은 문제가 존재하고 있다. 제도적으로 이미 변호사집단과 법조인 집단은 2개의 다른 계층으로 나뉘어져 있다는 전제하에, 중국에서의 효과적인 변호제도의 미래를 전망해볼 필요가 있다. The right of defense and the right to counsel are the most important rights for the prosecuted in criminal procedure. And the establishment of the system of effective advocacy is the key to protect the right of defense of the accused. The system of advocacy before the revision of the Criminal Procedure Law is widely interrogated. Although it is permitted for the prosecuted to acquire the advocacy of a lawyer during the stage of investigation by the revised Criminal Procedure Law, which enlarged the scope of the procedural rights of the prosecuted and the lawyer and consolidated the ensurant measures related, the there are still many questions unresolved about the implement of those revisions. Whether the system of effective advocacy can be established through those revisions this time, we are suspicious of it.

        A New Examination Method for Anatomical Variations of the Flexor Digitorum Superficialis in the Little Finger

        Background: Current examination methods to assess the anatomical variations of flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) tendon in the little finger necessitate a strong external force applied by the examiner and cause false negatives. A new examination method was designed to detect the variations more accurately. Methods: We examined the little fingers of 220 adult hands (110 subjects) by 2 methods: the expanded examination method advocated by Tan et al., and a new examination method. Variations of the FDS in the little finger were examined by both methods and categorized separately as having independent FDS function, FDS connection to the tendons of the ring finger or of the multiple adjacent fingers, and functional substitution of the flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) with or without tendinous connection to the ring or multiple adjacent fingers. By our new method, we could further divide the FDS connection or FDP substitution with connection to the ring finger into 2 subtypes: loose and close connections. Data were reported as case numbers and percent. Date on symmetry were statistically analyzed by matched case-control studies. Results: Among 220 hands, 113 hands (51.4%) had independent FDS function by the new examination method, which was lower than the incidence (55.5%) detected with the existing expanded examination method. In the hands with connections between FDS tendons of the little and the ring fingers, 32 hands (14.5%) demonstrated loose and 37 (16.8%) close connections. Three hands (1.4%) had loose and 19 (8.6%) had close FDP substitution with tendinous connection to the ring finger. Among 110 hands without independent FDS function, variants of 42 hands (38.2%) were asymmetric. There was no statistical significance in symmetry of variations. Conclusions: This new examination method offers other assessment variations of FDS tendon in the little finger. We recommend using this test to assess the variations and function of the FDS of the little finger.

        Next-generation sequencing of the mitochondrial genome of Dolichovespula panda (Hymenoptera: Vespidae) with a phylogenetic analysis of Vespidae

        For the first time the mitochondrial genome of a Dolichovespula species, D. panda Archer (Hymenoptera: Vespidae), was sequenced with a next-generation sequencing approach. The sequenced mitochondrial genome is 17137 bp long and consists of 13 protein-coding, 22 tRNA and two rRNA genes, as well as a partial A +T-rich region. Twenty-two of the genes are encoded on the majority strand and 15 genes on the minority strand. All protein-coding genes start with ATN codons and have a TAA termination codon, except for one with a TA codon. Compared with the putative ancestral arrangement of insects, the D. panda mitochondrial genome shows the shuffling of trnN and trnE, and of trnQ and trnM, the translocation of trnY to upstream of trnI, and of trnL1 to the region between trnS2 and nad1 and a reversal of trnS1. A phylogenetic tree within the Vespidae was reconstructed using the 13 protein-coding mitochondrial genes. This shows a sister group relationship between Dolichovespula and a clade formed by Vespa and Vespula. It also corroborated the position of Eumeninae as sister group of the clade Polistinae +Vespinae.

        Rheological Behavior and Electrical Properties of Graphene Oxide/Polyaniline Nanocomposites

        In this work, graphene oxide/polyaniline (GO/PANI) nanocomposites were synthesized by an in situ polymerization of aniline monomer in GO aqueous dispersions. The morphology and structure of GO/PANI were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra and Raman spectra. The effects of the concentration of GO/PANI and temperature on the rheological behavior of silicone oil dispersions of GO/PANI nanocomposites were investigated. The results showed that the steady state viscosity of GO/PANI dispersions remarkably increased with the addition of only little GO and the concentrated dispersions showed characteristic shear-thinning behavior. Significantly, a Newtonian-pseudoplastic transition with a critical exponent of 2.2 was observed in silicone oil dispersions of GO/PANI with the increase of nanocomposites concentration. The viscosity of GO/PANI dispersions apparently decreased with increasing temperature, while the temperature showed a certain effect on the thixotropic behavior of concentrated dispersions. In addition, the effect of the GO content on the electrical conductivity of GO/PANI nanocomposites was also explored. It was noted that the GO sheets are effective fillers for improving the rheological behavior and electrical conductivity of PANI matrix. Therefore, the study of rheological behavior and electric property of GO/PANI nanocomposites could shed light on the processing and application of GO/conductive polymer nanocomposites.

        Implications of Sarcopenia and Glucometabolism Parameters of Muscle Derived From Baseline and End-of-Treatment 18F-FDG PET/CT in Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

        Objective: We previously found that the incidence of sarcopenia increased with declining glucose metabolism of muscle in patients with treatment-naïve diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sarcopenia and muscle glucometabolism using 18F-FDG PET/CT at baseline and end-of-treatment, analyze the changes in these parameters through treatment, and assess their prognostic values. Materials and Methods: The records of 103 patients with DLBCL (median 54 years [range, 21–76]; male:female, 50:53) were retrospectively reviewed. Skeletal muscle area at the third lumbar vertebral (L3) level was measured, and skeletal muscle index (SMI) was calculated to determine sarcopenia, defined as SMI < 44.77 cm2/m2 and < 32.50 cm2/m2 for male and female, respectively. Glucometabolic parameters of the psoas major muscle, including maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean), were measured at L3 as well. Their changes across treatment were also calculated as ΔSMI, ΔSUVmax, and ΔSUVmean; Δbody mass index was also calculated. Associations between SMI and the metabolic parameters were analyzed, and their associations with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were identified. Results: The incidence of sarcopenia was 29.1% and 36.9% before and after treatment, respectively. SMI (P = 0.004) was lower, and sarcopenia was more frequent (P = 0.011) at end-of-treatment than at baseline. The SUVmax and SUVmean of muscle were lower (P < 0.001) in sarcopenia than in non-sarcopenia at both baseline and end-of-treatment. ΔSMI was positively correlated with ΔSUVmax of muscle (P = 0.022). Multivariable Cox regression analysis showed that sarcopenia at end-of-treatment was independently negatively associated with PFS (adjusted hazard ratio [95% confidence interval], 2.469 [1.022–5.965]), while sarcopenia at baseline was independently negatively associated with OS (5.051 [1.453–17.562]). Conclusion: Sarcopenic patients had lower muscle glucometabolism, and the muscular and metabolic changes across treatment were positively correlated. Sarcopenia at baseline and end-of-treatment was negatively associated with the prognosis of DLBCL.

        Enhanced Microwave Absorption Properties of CeO2 Nanoparticles Supported on Reduced Graphene Oxide

        In this work, reduced graphene oxide/CeO2 nanocomposites (RGO/CeO2) with two different RGO contents were synthesized using a facile one-step hydrothermal method, and the microwave absorption properties of RGO/CeO2 were investigated for the first time. Morphology and structure analysis shows that the CeO2 nanoparticles are uniformly dispersed on the RGO sheets with average size of 15 nm. The as-prepared RGO/CeO2 exhibits excellent microwave absorbability. An optimal reflection loss (RL) of -32 dB is found at 17 GHz with a coating layer thickness of 1.5 mm. The product with a coating layer thickness of only 2.0 mm shows a bandwidth of 4.3 GHz, corresponding to RL at -10 dB (90% of electromagnetic wave absorption). Compared with pristine RGO or pure CeO2 nanoparticles, the reported nanocomposites achieved both wider and stronger wave absorption in the frequency range of 2–18 GHz. The enhanced microwave absorption properties are attributed to the conductive loss and dielectric loss mainly caused by the higher oxygen vacancy concentration of CeO2 in RGO/CeO2, which is demonstrated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Moreover, multiple interfacial polarizations occurring in the multi-interfaces between CeO2 and RGO sheets may be beneficial to microwave absorption. RGO/CeO2 could be used as an attractive candidate for the new type of microwave absorptive materials.
