Nattospes as Effective and Safe Functional Supplements in Management of Stroke

        Phuong T. Pham,Bo Han,Ba X. Hoang 한국식품영양과학회 2020 Journal of medicinal food Vol.23 No.8

Stroke remains a major cause of human disability worldwide. Interventions and rehabilitation at the poststroke stage are critical for recovery. A single-blinded randomized controlled trial was conducted on 61 patients diagnosed with subacute stage of ischemic stroke. Ingestion of Nattospecs was tested as an adjuvant to support rehabilitation when combined with standard of care (SOC) treatment (electroacupuncture and Naatrapyl) (Trial group) and compared to SOC treatment alone (Control group). After 60 days, results showed that both Trial and Control groups achieved significant improvements in physical activities, blood pressure control, serum lipid panels, and quality of life. Nattospes as a food supplement has good supportive effects on treatment and rehabilitation after ischemic stroke by showing statistically significant improvement of stroke-related symptom in scores from modified Rankin, Orgogozo, and Barthel scales. In addition, Nattospes showed a good safety profile, with no adverse effects reported in both clinical and paraclinical parameters. This study indicated that Nattospes as nutraceutical supplement can be applied safely and effectively in the management of subacute stage ischemic stroke. The findings of the study may also encourage further extensive clinical trials to fully explore the prospect of Nattospes as a nutraceutical adjunct in the management of cardiovascular disease.

Synthesis and Selective CO2 Capture Properties of a Series of Hexatopic Linker-Based Metal–Organic Frameworks

        Nguyen, Phuong T. K.,Nguyen, Huong T. D.,Pham, Hung Q.,Kim, Jaheon,Cordova, Kyle E.,Furukawa, Hiroyasu American Chemical Society 2015 Inorganic Chemistry Vol.54 No.20

<P>Four crystalline, porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), based on a new hexatopic linker, 1′,2′,3′,4′,5′,6′-hexakis(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene (H6CPB), were synthesized and fully characterized. Interestingly, two members of this series exhibited new topologies, namely, <B>htp</B> and <B>hhp</B>, which were previously unseen in MOF chemistry. Gas adsorption measurements revealed that all members exhibited high CO2 selectivity over N2 and CH4. Accordingly, breakthrough measurements were performed on a representative example, in which the effective separation of CO2 from binary mixtures containing either N2 or CH4 was demonstrated without any loss in performance over three consecutive cycles.</P><P>The synthesis of metal−organic frameworks (MOFs) using multicarboxylate linkers has afforded new materials with unique structural features and interesting intrinsic properties. Accordingly, we prepared a new hexacarboxylate linker, and through one-pot solvothermal reactions, four new crystalline MOFs were constructed. All members exhibited selective CO2-capture properties, and a representative example was demonstrated to effectively separate CO2 from binary gas mixtures containing N2 or CH4.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/inocaj/2015/inocaj.2015.54.issue-20/acs.inorgchem.5b01900/production/images/medium/ic-2015-01900p_0001.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/ic5b01900'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

The Role of Intrinsic Motivation in the Relationship Between Psychological Capital and Innovative Performance: Empirical Evidence from Vietnam

        Phong T. TRAN,Thu D. T. NGUYEN,Luan M. PHAM,Phuong T. T. PHAN,Phuong T. DO 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.4

This research examines the mediation of intrinsic motivation (IP) in the relationship between psychological capital (Psycap) and innovative performance (IP) in the educational environment of the transitioning economy. A test was based on a convenient sample of 440 University lecturers participating in a hardcopy survey was collected from ten universities and colleges in Southern Vietnam, from April 2020 to December 2020, while social isolation is strictly enforced by the government (Covid-19). The hypotheses are then proposed and conducted using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the structural equation modeling technique (SEM). The testing structural model results reveal that all the hypotheses are satisfied at the 5% significance level. Intrinsic motivation is a partial mediator in the linkage between psychological capital and innovative performance. These findings suggest that the importance of Psychological Capital (PsyCap) of workers promotes job performance in general, especially in individuals’ creativity in a transitioning market, Vietnam. In addition, Based on the research results, several solutions are also proposed to promote innovative performance in the conditions of education in Vietnam. Besides, the author also gave a few comments on the findings as well as the limitations that this study encountered, especially how the survey samples were collected.

On the Implementation of a Low-Cost Mind-Voice-and-Gesture-Controlled Humanoid Robotic Arm Using Leap Motion and Neurosky Sensor

        Pham Quan K.,Vo Truong V.,Tran Phuong T. 대한전기학회 2022 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.17 No.1

In this paper, a low-cost prototype for humanoid robotic arm that is controlled by either voice, gesture or brain signals is introduced. The prototype consists of a robotic arm that can rotate around a vertical axis and a hand with fi ve fi ngers, which animates approximately the movements of a human hand. This model can be operated by brainwave signals from a Neurosky MindWave TM Mobile 2 Brainwave Sensing Headset, by human gesture using Leap Motion device, by voice command using Google Assistant, or by web-based interface. All operations can be monitored by a user interface on web server, with the support from a Raspberry Pi board. The experiments show that the average accuracy of our mindwave control prototype is about 83%, which is similar to most of previous high-cost solutions, and can go up to nearly 100% for the case that the data acquisition time is larger than 10 s (which improves 2–8% compared to previous works). This model would be highly useful in practice, especially, for people with disabilities who cannot use their hands, as well as in academia when it is used for undergraduate students’ experiments on robotics.

An Approximation of the Synthesis Cross Section for the Unknown 126th Element via 58Ni + 251Cf and 64Zn + 248Cm Combinations

Duy Nguyen Ngoc,Ho Phuong-Thao,Pham Vinh N. T.,Hoan Nguyen Thi Thu 한국물리학회 2020 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.77 No.1

In this paper, we estimate the production cross section of the unknown super-heavy nuclei 309, 312126 via 58Ni + 251Cf and 64Zn + 248Cm combinations by using approximation methods. For each reaction, the competition between compound nucleus (CN) formation and quasi-fission process is also analyzed. We found that the synthesis cross section for the 309126 isotope is about 3 fb, which is about 5 orders of magnitude higher than that for the 312126 nucleus. The results also suggest that a valley exists around the isotope with A = 313 in the production yields for the 126th element. Moreover, the synthesis of the 310-317126 isotopes is still a challenge for experimental techniques due to the small cross sections, which are less than 1 fb.
