This study reports on the quantitative recovery of high purity nanoporous silica from wastes material (H2SiF6) of the phosphate fertilizer industry and Na2O.SiO2. The silica recovered from the wastes was compared with silica from the reaction of H2SO4 and Na2O.SiO2 because H2SO4 is commonly used. The product recovered from the wastes material and H2SO4 were 99.3% and 99.1% pure, respectively. The quantity recovered were 22.30g and 20.11g, respectively. The product had superior properties suitable for applications such as chromatography, reinforcing material for rubber and plastics. The process may significantly reduce the release of SiF4 gas into the environment.
Ferromagnetism Above Room Temperature in Cr-Doped AlN Films
송영열,유성초,임기수,P. H Quang,Y. G. Yoo 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.48 No.6
Chromium-doped AlN .lms were prepared for a wide range of deposition parameters. The .lms were deposited on Si, Corning glass, and quartz substrates by magnetron sputtering. The single- phase .lms were obtained at an argon-nitrogen pressure of 6 mTorr for a substrate temperature range of 300 { 400 ±C. The .lms had typical thicknesses in the range of 200 { 1600 nm. The X-ray diraction pattern indicated a pure Cr-doped AlN phase. The concentration of Cr was deter- mined by using energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) and X-ray photoemission spectrometry (XPS). The magnetization of the .lms grown on glass substrates was measured by using an alter- nating gradient magnetometer (AGM) system. The AGM data gave hysteresis loops with a small coercive force and a saturation magnetization, Ms of 0.1 emu/cm3. The Ms value is consistent with the literature values. The ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) spectra were measured from room temperature to 500 K at 9.2 GHz with the static .eld parallel to the .lm plane. The ferromagnetism was detected even at 500 K, which was the maximum temperature of our system. The optical ab- sorption gap determined by using Tsuc's method decreased from 6.18 eV to 4.74 eV with increasing Cr content from x = 0 to 0.25. This behavior can be attributed to the broadening of the impurity band, which is formed by the hybridization of p-d orbital. Transport properties were measured as a function of temperature from 77 K to 300 K by using the four-probe method. The data points satisfy the exponential law for variable range hopping in Cr doped AlN .lms.

Compounds <B>1</B>–<B>5</B> and <B>7</B>–<B>14</B> inhibited TNFα-induced NF-κB transcriptional activity in HepG2 cells in a dose-dependent manner, with IC50 values ranging from 0.6<B></B>to 16.4 μM. Furthermore, the transcriptional inhibitory function of these compounds was confirmed on the basis of decreases in COX-2 and iNOS gene expression in HepG2 cells. The structure–activity relationship of the compounds with respect to anti-inflammatory activity is also discussed.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jnprdf/2011/jnprdf.2011.74.issue-9/np200382s/production/images/medium/np-2011-00382s_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/np200382s'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/np200382s'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>In this study, bottom-up type powder processing and top-down type SPD (severe plastic deformation) approaches were combined in order to achieve full density of 1vol.% carbon nanotube (CNT)-metal matrix composites with superior mechanical properties by improved particle bonding and least grain growth, which were considered as a bottle neck of the bottom-up method using the conventional powder metallurgy of compaction and sintering. ECAP (equal channel angular pressing), the most promising method in SPD, was used for the CNT-Cu powder consolidation. The powder ECAP processing with one, two, four and eight route C passes was conducted at room temperature. It was found by mechanical testing of the consolidated 1vol.% CNT-Cu that high mechanical strength could be achieved effectively as a result of the Cu matrix strengthening and improved particle bonding during ECAP. The ECAP processing of powders is a viable method to achieve fully density CNT-Cu nanocomposites.</P>
Improvement of soft clay at a site in the Mekong Delta by vacuum preloading
Quang, N.D.,Giao, P.H. Techno-Press 2014 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.6 No.5
Soil improvement by preloading with PVD in combination with vacuum is helpful when a considerable load is required to meet the desired rate of settlement in a relative short time. To facilitate the vacuum propagation, vertical drains are usually employed in conjunction. This ground improvement method is more and more applied in the Mekong delta of Vietnam to meet the needs of fast infrastructure development. This paper reports on a pilot test that was carried out to investigate the effect of ground improvement by vacuum and PVD on the rate of consolidation at the site of Saigon International Terminals Vietnam (SITV) in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, Viet Nam. Three main aspects of the test will be presented, and namely, instrumentation and field monitoring program, calculation of consolidation settlement and back-analysis of soil properties to see the difference before and after ground improvement.
