Radiative seesaw mechanism in a minimal 3-3-1 model
Okada, Hiroshi,Okada, Nobuchika,Orikasa, Yuta American Physical Society 2016 Physical Review D Vol.93 No.7
<P>We study the neutrino sector in a minimal SU(3)(L) x U(1)(X) model, in which its mass is generated at a one-loop level with the charged lepton mass, and hence, there exists a strong correlation between the charged-lepton mass and the neutrino mass. We identify the parameter region of this model to satisfy the current neutrino oscillation data as well as the constraints on lepton flavor violating processes. We also discuss a possibility to explain the muon anomalous magnetic moment.</P>
Higgs phenomenology in the minimalSU(3)L×U(1)Xmodel
Okada, Hiroshi,Okada, Nobuchika,Orikasa, Yuta,Yagyu, Kei American Physical Society 2016 Physical Review D Vol.94 No.1
<P>We investigate the phenomenology of a model based on the SU(3)(c) x SU(3)(L) x U(1)(X) gauge theory, the so-called 331 model. In particular, we focus on the Higgs sector of the model which is composed of three SU(3)L triplet Higgs fields and is the minimal form for realizing a phenomenologically acceptable scenario. After the spontaneous symmetry breaking SU(3)(L) x U(1)(X) -> SU(2)(L) x U(1)(Y), our Higgs sector effectively becomes that with two SU(2)(L) doublet scalar fields, in which the first-and the second-generation quarks couple to a different Higgs doublet from that which couples to the third-generation quarks. This structure causes the flavor-changing neutral current mediated by Higgs bosons at the tree level. By taking an alignment limit of the mass matrix for the CP-even Higgs bosons, which is naturally realized in the case with the breaking scale of SU(3)(L) x U(1)(X) much larger than that of SU(2)(L) x U(1)(Y), we can avoid current constraints from flavor experiments such as the B-0-(B) over bar (0) mixing even for the Higgs bosons masses that are O(100) GeV. In this allowed parameter space, we clarify that a characteristic deviation in quark Yukawa couplings of the Standard Model-like Higgs boson is predicted, which has a different pattern from that seen in two Higgs doublet models with a softly broken Z(2) symmetry. We also find that the flavor-violating decay modes of the extra Higgs boson, e.g., H/A -> tc and H-+/- -> ts, can be dominant, and they yield the important signature to distinguish our model from the two Higgs doublet models.</P>
Erythema Nodosum Masking Kawasaki Disease with an Initial Manifestation of Skin Lesions
Seigo Okada,Yuichi Ishikawa,Maiko Shimomura,Shinpei Sunagawa,Reiji Hirano,Shinnosuke Fukunaga,Akiko Miyake,Yusuke Okada,Takashi Maki 연세대학교의과대학 2019 Yonsei medical journal Vol.60 No.3
We report the first case demonstrating an association between Kawasaki disease (KD) and erythema nodosum (EN). A 3-year-oldgirl presented with EN as an initial manifestation of KD. At the initial visit, she showed high fever of 40°C, injection of the oropharynx, cervical lymphadenopathy, and red-purple cutaneous nodules, particularly on the lower limbs. She complained of severepain in the neck and cutaneous lesions. Initially, the development of EN was attributed to Salmonella spp infection, which wasdetected in stool culture. However, the patient did not respond to high-dose ampicillin/sulbactam to which the Salmonella spp issensitive. Echocardiography performed as screening for fever of unknown origin revealed medium-sized aneurysms of the leftanterior descending artery. EN masked the diagnosis of KD, and the patient developed a coronary artery lesion. KD should beconsidered in the differential diagnosis of refractory EN in pediatric patients.
Iron-based Cathodes/anodes for Li-ion and Post Li-ion Batteries
Okada, Shigeto,Yamaki, Jun-ichi 한국공업화학회 2004 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.10 No.7
Transition-metal oxides and chalcogenides with and 3-dimensional layered structures have been extensively investigated as cathodes for lithium secondary batteries. However, few studies have focused on intercalation host compounds containing the (XO_(m))^(n-) polyanions (e. g., X = Mo, W, S, P, and B) in place of the smaller O^(2-). Recently, raremetal-free materials and complexes with polyanions have been proposed as new candidates for the next generation cathodes/anodes. In this material group, the promising cathode/anode performances of NASICON-type Li₃Fe₂(PO₄)₃, olivine-type LiFePO₄, and calcite-tye FeBO₃ are presented. The aim of this study further the develo㎛ent of a multivalent-ion battery using Mg^(2+) or Ca^(2+) and an all polyanionic solid-state battery comprised of a polyanionic cathode, electrolyte, and anode.
K-Ar Age Detwermination of a Lava Stalagmite in Manjang Cave Jeju Island Korea
Okada, Toshinori,Itaya, Tetsumaru,Sawa, Isao,Hong, Shi-Hwan The Speleological Society 1995 Journal of the speleological society of korea Vol.42 No.2
THE K-AR METHOD of age determination is commonly used to date rocks from Pleistocene volcanoes in Japan (e.g. Kaneoka et al. 1980, Itaya et al. 1984, Shimizu et al. 1988, Itaya et al. 1989). However. there are still many problems with K-Ar dating of the young volcanic rocks, as reviewed by Itaya and Nagao (1988).(omitted)

<P>Previous studies have emphasized ethnically heterogeneous human leukocyte antigen (HLA) classical allele associations to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) risk. We fine-mapped RA risk alleles within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) in 2782 seropositive RA cases and 4315 controls of Asian descent. We applied imputation to determine genotypes for eight class I and II HLA genes to Asian populations for the first time using a newly constructed pan-Asian reference panel. First, we empirically measured high imputation accuracy in Asian samples. Then we observed the most significant association in HLA-DRβ1 at amino acid position 13, located outside the classical shared epitope (<I>P</I>omnibus = 6.9 × 10−135). The individual residues at position 13 have relative effects that are consistent with published effects in European populations (His > Phe > Arg > Tyr ≅ Gly > Ser)—but the observed effects in Asians are generally smaller. Applying stepwise conditional analysis, we identified additional independent associations at positions 57 (conditional <I>P</I>omnibus = 2.2 × 10−33) and 74 (conditional <I>P</I>omnibus = 1.1 × 10−8). Outside of HLA-DRβ1, we observed independent effects for amino acid polymorphisms within HLA-B (Asp9, conditional <I>P</I> = 3.8 × 10−6) and HLA-DPβ1 (Phe9, conditional <I>P</I> = 3.0 × 10−5) concordant with European populations. Our trans-ethnic HLA fine-mapping study reveals that (i) a common set of amino acid residues confer shared effects in European and Asian populations and (ii) these same effects can explain ethnically heterogeneous classical allelic associations (e.g. <I>HLA-DRB1*09:01</I>) due to allele frequency differences between populations. Our study illustrates the value of high-resolution imputation for fine-mapping causal variants in the MHC.</P>
A High-Resolution Structure of the Pre-microRNA Nuclear Export Machinery
Okada, Chimari,Yamashita, Eiki,Lee, Soo Jae,Shibata, Satoshi,Katahira, Jun,Nakagawa, Atsushi,Yoneda, Yoshihiro,Tsukihara, Tomitake American Association for the Advancement of Scienc 2009 Science Vol.326 No.5957
<P>Nuclear export of microRNAs (miRNAs) by exportin-5 (Exp-5) is an essential step in miRNA biogenesis. Here, we present the 2.9 angstrom structure of the pre-miRNA nuclear export machinery formed by pre-miRNA complexed with Exp-5 and a guanine triphosphate (GTP)-bound form of the small nuclear guanine triphosphatase (GTPase) Ran (RanGTP). The x-ray structure shows that Exp-5:RanGTP recognizes the 2-nucleotide 3′ overhang structure and the double-stranded stem of the pre-miRNA. Exp-5:RanGTP shields the pre-miRNA stem from degradation in a baseball mitt-like structure where it is held by broadly distributed weak interactions, whereas a tunnel-like structure of Exp-5 interacts strongly with the 2-nucleotide 3′ overhang through hydrogen bonds and ionic interactions. RNA recognition by Exp-5:RanGTP does not depend on RNA sequence, implying that Exp-5:RanGTP can recognize a variety of pre-miRNAs.</P>
