The present study covenants with the static and free vibration behavior of nanocomposite sandwich plates reinforced by carbon nanotubes resting on Pasternak elastic foundation. Uniformly distributed (UD-CNT) and functionally graded (FG-CNT) distributions of aligned carbon nanotube are considered for two types of sandwich plates such as, the face sheet reinforced and homogeneous core and the homogeneous face sheet and reinforced core. Based on the first shear deformation theory (FSDT), the Hamilton’s principle is employed to derive the mathematical models. The obtained solutions are numerically validated by comparison with some available cases in the literature. The elastic foundation model is assumed as one parameter Winkler - Pasternak foundation. A parametric study is conducted to study the effects of aspect ratios, foundation parameters, carbon nanotube volume fraction, types of reinforcement, core-to-face sheet thickness ratio and types of loads acting on the bending and free vibration analyses. It is explicitly shown that the (FG-CNT) face sheet reinforced sandwich plate has a high resistance against deflections compared to other types of reinforcement. It is also revealed that the reduction in the dimensionless natural frequency is most pronounced in core reinforced sandwich plate.

The aim of this work is to construct a general family of two dimensional differential systems which admits homoclinic solutions near a non-hyperbolic fixed point, such that a Jacobian matrix at this point is zero. We then discretize it by using Euler's method and look after the persistence of the homoclinic solutions in the obtained discrete system.
Investigation of the Instability of FGM box beams
Noureddine Ziane,Sid Ahmed Meftah,Giuseppe Ruta,Abdelouahed Tounsi,El Abbas Adda Bedia 국제구조공학회 2015 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.54 No.3
A general geometrically non-linear model for lateral-torsional buckling of thick and thin-walled FGM box beams is presented. In this model primary and secondary torsional warping and shear effects are taken into account. The coupled equilibrium equations obtained from Galerkin's method are derived and the corresponding tangent matrix is used to compute the critical moments. General expression is derived for the lateral-torsional buckling load of unshearable FGM beams. The results are validated by comparison with a 3D finite element simulation using the code ABAQUS. The influences of the geometrical characteristics and the shear effects on the buckling loads are demonstrated through several case studies.

This paper attempts to investigate the free vibration of functionally graded material beams with nonuniform width based on the nonlocal elasticity theory. The theoretical formulations are established following the Euler–Bernoulli beam theory, and the governing equations of motion of the system are derived from the minimum total potential energy principle using the nonlocal elasticity theory. In addition, the Differential Quadrature Method (DQM) is applied, along with the Chebyshev-Gauss-Lobatto polynomials, in order to determine the weighting coefficient matrices. Furthermore, the effects of the nonlocal parameter, cross-section area of the functionally graded material (FGM) beam and various boundary conditions on the natural frequencies are examined. It is observed that the nonlocal parameter and boundary conditions significantly influence the natural frequencies of the functionally graded material beam cross-section. The results obtained, using the Differential Quadrature Method (DQM) under various boundary conditions, are found in good agreement with analytical and numerical results available in the literature.

The desire to offer clothes protective properties against the harmful UV rays continues to attract the interest of researchers. Several works have been elaborated in this topic and have proved that the clothes do not protect sufficiently against the solar ultraviolet radiation. Their protectiveness depends on the fiber type, the fabric composition, the fabric construction and the dyeing method. This research presents a novel approach which target the improvement of the textile protective properties against UV rays by their dyeing with grape pomace aqueous extract. These properties were tested in combination with several fabrics (natural and synthetic) and mordants (potassium alum and ferrous sulphate). Through this study, it has been shown that the UV-protective properties of the several dyed fibers were upgraded after dyeing with the grape pomace extract, and is intensely relying on the types of fibers and mordants.
Efficiency calibration and coincidence summing correction for a NaI(Tl) spherical detector
Noureddine, Salam F.,Abbas, Mahmoud I.,Badawi, Mohamed S. Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.10
Spherical NaI(Tl) detectors are used in gamma-ray spectrometry, where the gamma emissions come from the nuclei with energies in the range from a few keV up to 10 MeV. A spherical detector is aimed to give a good response to photons, which depends on their direction of travel concerning the detector center. Some distortions in the response of a gamma-ray detector with a different geometry can occur because of the non-uniform position of the source from the detector surface. The present work describes the calibration of a NaI(Tl) spherical detector using both an experimental technique and a numerical simulation method (NSM). The NSM is based on an efficiency transfer method (ETM, calculating the effective solid angle, the total efficiency, and the full-energy peak efficiency). Besides, there is a high probability for a source-to-detector distance less than 15 cm to have pulse coincidence summing (CS), which may occur when two successive photons of different energies from the same source are detected within a very short response time. Therefore, γ-γ ray CS factors are calculated numerically for a 152Eu radioactive cylindrical source. The CS factors obtained are applied to correct the measured efficiency values for the radioactive volumetric source at different energies. The results show a good agreement between the NSM and the experimental values (after correction with the CS factors).

In this paper we determine explicitly the kernels $\mathbb K_{\alpha,\beta}$ associated with new Bergman spaces $\mathcal A_{\alpha,\beta}^2(\mathbb D)$ considered recently by the first author and M. Zaway. Then we study the distribution of the zeros of these kernels essentially when $\alpha\in\mathbb N$ where the zeros are given by the zeros of a real polynomial $Q_{\alpha,\beta}$. Some numerical results are given throughout the paper.

This paper proposes a real-time implementation of an optimal operation of a double stage grid connected wind power system incorporating an active power filter (APF). The system is used to supply the nonlinear loads with harmonics and reactive power compensation. On the generator side, a new adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control is proposed to track the maximum wind power point regardless of wind speed fluctuations. Whereas on the grid side, a modified predictive current control (PCC) algorithm is used to control the APF, and allow to ensure both compensating harmonic currents and injecting the generated power into the grid. Also a type 2 fuzzy logic controller is used to control the DC-link capacitor in order to improve the dynamic response of the APF, and to ensure a well-smoothed DC-Link capacitor voltage. The gained benefits from these proposed control algorithms are the main contribution in this work. The proposed control scheme is implemented on a small-scale wind energy conversion system (WECS) controlled by a dSPACE 1104 card. Experimental results show that the proposed T2FLC maintains the DC-Link capacitor voltage within the limit for injecting the power into the grid. In addition, the PCC of the APF guarantees a flexible settlement of real power exchanges from the WECS to the grid with a high power factor operation.
Distortional effect on global buckling and post-buckling behaviour of steel box beams
Noureddine Benmohammed,Noureddine Ziane,Sid Ahmed Meftah,Giuseppe Ruta 국제구조공학회 2020 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.35 No.6
The homotopy perturbation method (HPM) to predict the pre- and post-buckling behaviour of simply supported steel beams with rectangular hollow section (RHS) is presented in this paper. The non-linear differential equations solved by HPM derive from a kinematics where large twist and cross-sections distortions are considered. The results (linear and non-linear paths) given by the present HPM are compared to those provided by the Newton–Raphson algorithm with arc length and by the commercial FEM code Abaqus. To investigate the effect of cross-sectional distortion of beams, some numerical examples are presented.
