The Nexus Between Factors Affecting eBook Acceptance and Learning Outcomes in Malaysia
Ahmad Fadhly ARHAM,Nor Sabrena NORIZAN,Maz Izuan MAZALAN,Norazamimah BOGAL,Mohd Natashah NORIZAN 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.9
This study aims to investigate factors affecting eBook acceptance and learning outcomes among students experiencing online distance learning. As conventional textbooks are now switched into eBooks, the effects of contextual factors including lecturer, student computer competency, content and design of the course, access ability, infrastructure, and university support on eBook acceptance and learning outcome needs to be evaluated. The sample of this study is represented by students at the Universiti Teknologi MARA, City Campus Melaka, undertaking ‘strategic management course’. Non-probability random sampling was selected as the sampling technique and a purposive sampling method was chosen to select the samples. The samples comprised 171 students randomly selected through Google Form. The questionnaire data was analyzed by using PLS-SEM. The results indicated that these factors contributed 62.3% variations in the eBook acceptance and 67.1% variations in the learning outcomes. The strongest factor affecting both dependent variables was content and design of course. Managerial implication suggested that the content for all courses taught through the eBook platform needs to be revisited and improved in accordance with the mode of online deliverance. Tutorial on how to navigate the eBook platform is important to all users as this would enhance acceptance and produce better learning outcomes among students.

This study examines the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the role of Malaysian local wisdom called “Ugahari” in managing Work–Life Balance (WLB) during the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia. Data was obtained through online and offline surveys which were distributed to the agencies in the public and private sectors spread across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Pura Jaya. Overall 466 respondents were found to have given valid and complete responses. This research utilized the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling. It was found that the use of the ICT during Work from Home (WFH) helped workers to have relatively high flexibility where they could easily expand or contract one domain to meet the demands of another domain. At the same time it also offered high permeability where aspects of one domain entered another domain. This encourages workers to integrate their roles and achieve broad work autonomy. Furthermore, this situation then gives rise to a high level of interference at the boundary between work and family domains. On the other hand Ugahari reduces the level of interference caused by ICT use and encourages workers to compartmentalize their respective roles. Thus, ICT and Ugahari’s behavior can play a role and complement each other in the context of realizing worker well-being.
Cultural Issues in Offshore Teams: A Categorization based on Existing Studies

Cultural and personal issues resulting from dispersed teams are considered to be serious barriers to form trust and organize effective agile teams. However, apart from separate, reported evidence of such issues from work experience, there has been no theoretical classification in literature. This paper provides a list and analysis of common challenges mainly resulting from cultural differences and barriers in Agile Software Development (ASD) offshore teams. The data source comprise articles published in IEEE, mostly of conferences related to ASD. Among the articles, papers with concrete evidence of Agile Methods (AM) implementation were selected. The results show that despite the relative significance of such issues, ASD adopters typically still rely on their own experience, and creativity rather than using well-defined methods. Moreover, this study reveals that the notion of trust, as discussed in the literature, mainly refers to maintaining the pace of communication, which is the focal point in ASD.
Integration of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel for Forest Survey Application

Forest Survey consists of road survey, topographic survey, tree mapping survey, stream survey and also ridge survey. Information from forest survey is important and become essential in preparing base map to be used for forest harvesting planning and control. With the current technologies technique of data processing and mapping from traditionally hand drawn method had shifted to a computer system particularly the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD). This gives great advantages to the forest managers and logging operators. However data processing and mapping duration could be further reduced by integrating CAD with other established software such as Microsoft Excel. This time study to show that there is significance difference in term of duration for data processing and efficiency using AutoCAD in combination with Microsoft Excel program as compare to the use of AutoCAD program alone. From the study, it shows that the integration of AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel is able to reduce 70% of duration for data processing and mapping as compared to the use of AutoCAD program alone.

Man-made composites are vastly implemented in various engineering applications, particularly in cross-arm component of latticed transmission tower. However, their practice in this sector has increased pollutant emissions and landfill areas. Thus, scientists and engineers have been driven to look for other ‘greener’ alternative materials that have low-cost and renewable sources. Flax fibers and poly(lactic) acid (PLA) biopolymer have been extensively used to develop vast green composite structural products because of their great mechanical behaviours. A comprehensive understanding of properties of composite materials is essential to evaluate their applicability, especially in structural applications. This manuscript discusses the physic-mechanical properties and processing and manufacturability of flax fiber, PLA biopolymer and their composites. This review also comprehensively discovers the potential of fabric flax fiber-reinforced PLA composites for cross-arm application. The chemical composition, extraction, treatment and fabrications of these fiber and biopolymer are elaborated deeply given that these aspects are essential for the development of green composite cross-arm.

This research paper focuses on the influence of fibre layering sequence on mechanical and creep properties ofkenaf fibre-reinforced unsaturated polyester for structural applications. Kenaf fibre unsaturated polyester composites with0 °/0 °/0 °, 0 °/+45 °/0 °, 0 °/+45 °/-45 ° and 0 °/90 °/0 ° layering sequence configurations were prepared and analysed. Thequasi-static four-point flexural test was performed and the flexural creep properties of each kenaf composite configurationwere evaluated as per international standards ASTM D6272 and ASTM D2990 respectively. By using a creep numericalmodel, namely the Findley model, the creep properties of kenaf fibre composites with four different configurations weremodelled. The results show that the highest flexural strength of 44.77 MPa was achieved using the 0 °/+45 °/0 °configuration, followed by 0 °/90 °/0 ° and 0 °/+45 °/-45 ° configurations. In this study, the performance of the compositewith the layering sequence of 0 °/+45 °/-45 ° was the poorest due to its inconsistent layering configurations and compositeproperties. In terms of flexural creep properties, it can be seen that the 0 °/+45 °/0 ° layering sequence offered significantcreep resistance with the most significant elastic modulus of 73% throughout the 720-hour creep test duration. This researchshows that the kenaf fibre composites with a layering sequence of 0 °/+45 °/0 ° have the optimum properties, as reflected inultimate flexural strength values and elastic modulus reduction. It can be established that the kenaf composites with 0 °/+45 °/0 ° configuration have the highest potential to be used in structural applications with long-term serviceability such as crossarmin transmission towers.

Three isoprenylated flavanones were isolated from the leaves of Flemingia lineata (L.) Aiton. Among them are two new flavanones, flemilineatins A and B (1-2), along with 6-isoprenyl eridioctyol (3). Their structures were determined using HRESIMS data and NMR spectra. Flavanones 1-3 were assayed in the HeLa cancer cells. Compound 1 showed moderate activity with an IC50 value of 11.2 µM.
