Statistical and Machine Learning-Based FHB Detection in Durum Wheat

        Nasrin Azimi,Omid Sofalian,Mahdi Davari,Ali Asghari,Naser Zare 한국육종학회 2020 Plant Breeding and Biotechnology Vol.8 No.3

Pathogens are the major causes of wheat crop yield losses, including the fungus Fusarium graminearum, an agent of Fusarium Head Blight (FHB). A better understanding of the relationship between plant morphological and biochemical traits and resistance to FHB can be effective in implementing a successful breeding program. This study investigated the relationship between FHB resistance as well as the morphological and biochemical traits in 20 durum wheat lines. Both morphological and biochemical traits were investigated using statistical tools. Therefore, analyses of variance, mean, as well as the correlation between the traits were considered. In addition, for the morphological traits, cluster analyses were performed to identify similar genotypes in control and infected conditions. Furthermore, machine learning (ML) classification techniques, including Support Vector Machine (SVM), were proposed to detect the infected plants using morphological traits. The results show a great promise for the application of data-driven ML-based methods in plant breeding and disease detection.

Faith and Certitude in Contemporary Persian Literature

Nasrin Shakibimomtaz 한국외국어대학교 중동연구소 2010 중동연구 Vol.28 No.2

This study is designed to research on Faith and Certitude in Persian literature and focusing on contemporary Persian poem. The traditional literature in fran is full of religious faith allusions, in fact the ancient poem and prose reflexes the Iranian religious. After Arab attack to Iran in Sassanid dynasty period we faced with a new religion that called Islam, which has remarkable effects on art and poetry. So the Old Persian literature acts like a mirror and reflexes all of the mythical, historica, caltural and Islamic thoughts in old Iran. In contemporary literature in modern world we have another procedure to religion which is a Special faith and certitude to the God who is the lost truth of modern human. In new literature we can see an individual faith that expresses the human need to Celestial subject. Most of the Persian contemporary poets concentrate to this case and use it to tell their internal idea about God, human and universe.

Hydrazine-modified starch coated magnetic nanoparticles as an effective pH-responsive nanocarrier for doxorubicin delivery

Nasrin Zohreh,Seyed Hassan Hosseini,Ali Pourjavadi 한국공업화학회 2016 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.39 No.-

A novel, magnetic nanocarrier was successfully synthesized through a facile and economical producer inwhich Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were coated by starch-g-poly (methyl methacrylate-co-PEG-acrylamide). The surface of nanocarrier was then modified by hydrazine to preparation of a pHresponsivecarrier. The resulted nanocarrier was applied for delivery of doxorubicin (DOX) as an effectiveanti-cancer drug. DOX was reacted with hydrazine linkage on the surface of nanocarrier to formhydrazone bond. Due to the presence of numerous hydrazine groups on the surface of magneticnanocarrier large amounts of DOX was loaded onto the carrier (327 mg g 1).

Public Awareness of Early and Late Complications of Type 2 Diabetes - Application of Latent Profile Analysis in Determining Questionnaire Cut-Off Points

Nasrin Shirmohammadi 질병관리본부 2018 Osong Public Health and Research Persptectives Vol.9 No.5

Objectives A questionnaire was designed to determine public understanding of early and late complications of Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods A cross-sectional study was performed in participants who were selected using a multi-stage sampling method and a standard questionnaire of 67 questions was proposed. An expert panel selected 53 closed-ended questions for content validity to be included in the questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was tested using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient giving a score of 0.84. Results Of the 825 participants, 443 (57.6%) were male, and 322 (41.87%) were 40 years or more. The proportion of low-, moderate- and high- awareness about T2DM and its complications was 29.26%, 62.68%, and 8.06%, respectively. Friends (56.31%) and internet and social networks (20.55%) were the 2 major sources of awareness, respectively. The medical staff (e.g., physicians) had the lowest share in the level of public awareness (3.64%) compared to other sources. Conclusion These results present data that shows the general population awareness of T2DM is low. Healthcare policymakers need to be effective at raising awarenes of diabetes and it should be through improved education.

Compound Heterozygosity for Two Novel SLC26A4 Mutations in a Large Iranian Pedigree with Pendred Syndrome

        Nasrin Yazdanpanahi,Mohammad Amin Tabatabaiefar,Effat Farrokhi,Narges Abdian,Nader Bagheri,Shirin Shahbazi,Zahra Noormohammadi,Morteza Hashemzadeh Chaleshtori 대한이비인후과학회 2013 Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology Vol.6 No.4

Objectives. The aim of this study was to detect the genetic cause of deafness in a large Iranian family. Due to the importance of SLC26A4 in causing hearing loss, information about the gene mutations can be beneficial in molecular detection and management of deaf patients. Methods. We investigated the genetic etiology in a large consanguineous family with 9 deaf patients from Fars province of Iran with no GJB2 mutations. Initially, linkage analysis was performed by four DFNB4 short tandem repeat markers. The result showed linkage to DFNB4 locus. Following that, DNA sequencing of all 21 exons, their adjacent intronic sequences and the promoter of SLC26A4 was carried out for mutation detection. Results. Two novel mutations (c.863-864insT and c.881-882delAC) were identified in exon 7 of the gene, in both homozygous and compound heterozygous state in patients. Conclusion. Our results supported the importance of the SLC26A4 mutations in the etiology of hearing loss among the Iranian patients and therefore its mutation screening should be considered after GJB2 in the molecular diagnostics of hearing loss, especially when enlarged vestibular aqueduct or goiter is detected.

Antinociceptive Properties of Extracts and Two Flavonoids Isolated from Leaves of Danae racemosa

        Nasrin Maleki-Dizaji,Fatemeh Fathiazad,Alireza Garjani 대한약학회 2007 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.30 No.12

The antinociceptive properties of the hydro-methanolic extract (HME) and two flavonoids isolated from Danae racemosa have been investigated in several nociceptive rat models. The HME from D. racemosa (100-400 mgkg-1, i.p.) produced significant dose-related inhibition of acetic acid-induced abdominal constriction. In the same dose range, the HME produced doserelated inhibition in both phases of a formalin-test. Treatment of animals with naloxone (5 mgkg-1, i.p.) completely reversed the antinociceptive effect caused by morphine (5 mgkg-1, s.c.) and the HME (200 mgkg-1, i.p.) when assessed against the first phase of the formalin-test, but this effect was less significant for the HME in the second phase. Furthermore, when assessed via a hot-plate test, the HME (100-400 mgkg-1, i.p.) caused a significant increase in response latency. The HME, given daily for to 7 consecutive days, develop tolerance, but did not induce cross-tolerance to morphine. These data demonstrate that the HME elicites pronounced antinociception against several pain models. The actions of the HME involve, at least in part, an interaction with the opioid system, but does not seem to be related with non-specific peripheral or central depressant actions. Finally, the active principle(s) responsible for the antinociceptive action of D. racemosa is likely to be partially related to the presence of quercetin and kaempferol.

Bending analysis of anti-symmetric cross-ply laminated plates under nonlinear thermal and mechanical loadings

        Nasrine Belbachir,Kada Draiche,Abdelmoumen Anis Bousahla,Mohamed Bourada,Abdelouahed Tounsi,M. Mohammadimehr 국제구조공학회 2019 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.33 No.1

The present paper addresses a refined plate theoryin order to describe the response of anti-symmetric cross-ply laminated plates subjected to a uniformlydistributed nonlinear thermo-mechanical loading. In the present theory, the undetermined integral terms are used and the variables number is reduced to four instead of five or more in other higher-order theories. The boundary conditions on the top and the bottom surfaces of the plate are satisfied; hence the use of the transverse shear correction factors isavoided. The principle of virtual work is used to obtain governing equations and boundary conditions. Navier solution for simply supported plates is used to derive analytical solutions. For the validation of the present theory, numerical results for displacements and stressesare compared with those of classical, first-order, higher-order and trigonometricshear theories reported in the literature.

NUMERICAL COUPLING OF TWO SCALAR CONSERVATION LAWS BY A RKDG METHOD

NASRIN OKHOVATI,MOHAMMAD IZADI 한국산업응용수학회 2019 Journal of the Korean Society for Industrial and A Vol.23 No.3

This paper is devoted to the study and investigation of the Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin method for a system of differential equations consisting of two hyperbolic conservation laws. The numerical coupling flux which is used at a given interface (x = 0) is the upwind flux. Moreover, in the linear case, we derive optimal convergence rates in the L2-norm, showing an error estimate of order O(h k+1) in domains where the exact solution is smooth; here h is the mesh width and k is the degree of the (orthogonal Legendre) polynomial functions spanning the finite element subspace. The underlying temporal discretization scheme in time is the third-order total variation diminishing Runge-Kutta scheme. We justify the advantages of the Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin method in a series of numerical examples.
