본 연구는 부산지역에 있어서 물류 클러스터 혁신시스템의 구축을 위한정책방안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 즉, 물류 클러스터 혁신시스템의 구축을 위한 중요한 요소로서 각 혁신 주체들 간의 네트워크모델을 도출하는 것이 중요하며, 지역 내에서 기업과 기업, 기업과 대학, 연구기관 등간의 체계적인 물류네트워크의 구축은 물류혁신을 창출하는 가장 중요한 기반이 된다. 따라서, 지역물류산업집적을 형성하는 관련기업 간의 정기적인 교류기회를 확대하거나, 물류관련 지역기업의 공동연구개발, 공동마케팅, 공동물류등의 협력활동을 증대시킬 수 있는 물류 클러스터를 찾아내어 전략적인 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 본 연구는 부산광역시가 동북아시아의 국제물류거점도시로서 계속적인 성장은 물론 지역산업과의 연계전략을 모색하는 중요한 연구가 될 것이며, 특히, 물류클러스터의 이론적 관점에서 지역경쟁전략을 구축하기 위한 새로운 전략모델을 제시하게 되었다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 끝으로 본 연구의 기대효과가 부산광역시의 경제정책개발에 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대하며,물류산업클러스터의 네트워크구축은 비단 부산지역 내에 국한되는 것이 아니라, 여타지역 및 한, 중, 일간의 국제적인 물류혁신네트워크의 구축에 이르기까지 확대될 수 있기를 기대한다. The purpose of this study is to propose policies of establishing innovative logistics cluster system for the region of Busan. Modeling networks innovatory parties is essential for the system establishment. In other words, logistics networks among businesses, between businesses and universities and among research institutes are the most important basis for logistics innovation. In relation, it is necessary to strategically design and model logistics cluster under which regular exchanges, joint research and development, joint marketing and joint distribution among logistics-related businesses are promoted. This study is very significant in that it suggests ways of growing Busan into the international hub of logistics in Northeastern Asia and relating the hub with businesses within the city. It is also valuable by providing a new model for establishing regional competition strategy based on theories about logistics cluster. Finally this researcher hopes that expected effects of the study will become a basis for economic policy development of the city and that networking for logistics cluster will not be restricted only to Busan, but extended to other regions and further led to the establishment of international logistics innovation network among Korea, China and Japan.

While the infrastructure of trade in Japan is transferring from the processing trade type to an international specification one for importation and exportation products, the port distribution system has been changed from the distribution system for importation of raw materials to the that for the importation of products or goods. It is shown that the advancement of distribution services at a port such as leading, storing, distribution processing and delivery or forwarding is keenly required. Recently, Japan has been preparing for the infrastructures of importation distribution like FAZ(Foreign Access Zone) and huge-sized comprehensive import terminal to correspond to the transfer of systems for port distribution, however, it is still thrown into disorder in the activation of local economy and a port under the low-growth economy system stance 1990. Especially, the comprehensive bonded-area system applied in FAZ is considerably similar to the Free Trade Port one, however, it is found to be negative in substance to a domestic economic protection in Japan since it is to FTZ(Foreign Trade Zone) in USA, it is supposed to have permission for land or facilities in FAZ according to the certain standard. Also, it is different from the administrative characters in that the period to equip cargo is fundamentally prescribed 2 years. The direction of preparation for substructure of port distribution to promote importation in Japan isn't subject to belong prepared in the policy-leaded standpoint by the government connected with the effect on instant improvement in importation but promoting the preparation of FAZ and the comprehensive import terminal complied to substantial demands by the future mid or long term comprehensive countermeasures and the return to prosperity.
AHCC Supplementation Attenuates Muscle Atrophy via Akt Activation in Hindlimb-suspended Rat

We investigated the inhibitory effect of active hexose correlated compound (AHCC) on muscle atrophy in hindlimb-suspended rats. Twenty-four six-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: the control sedentary group (CS, n = 8), the hindlimb-suspended group (HS, n = 8), and the hindlimbsuspended and AHCC-supplemented group (HSA, n = 8). Hindlimb suspension and AHCC supplementation were performed for two weeks. The HSA group was treated with AHCC (1 g/1 kg of body weight (BW)) orally in 0.3 mL of PBS solution, while the HS group received the vehicle (PBS solution) only. After two weeks, the cross-sectional area (CSA) of the HS and HSA groups decreased by approximately 36% (p < 0.05) and 19%, respectively, compared to the CS group. In addition, myonuclear numbers of the HS and HSA groups and the extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscle weight of the HS group decreased 30% (p < 0.05) and 18%, respectively, compared to the CS group. AHCC supplementation increased the phosphorylation of pAkt/Akt in the HSA group compared to the HS group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, Fbx32 and MuRF1 protein expression in the HSA group recovered to the level of the CS group. Based on these results, AHCC supplementation may have a positive role in the prevention of muscle atrophy via Akt activation in hindlimb-suspended rats.
Flagellin is a strong vaginal adjuvant of a therapeutic vaccine for genital cancer

<P><B>ABSTRACT</B></P><P>Cervical cancer is a high-incidence female cancer most commonly caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) infection of the genital mucosa. Immunotherapy targeting HPV-derived tumor antigens (TAs) has been widely studied in animal models and in patients. Because the female genital tract is a portal for the entry of HPV and a highly compartmentalized system, the development of topical vaginal immunotherapy in an orthotopic cancer model would provide an ideal therapeutic. Thus, we examined whether flagellin, a potent mucosal immunomodulator, could be used as an adjuvant for a topical therapeutic vaccine for female genital cancer. Intravaginal (IVAG) co-administration of the E6/E7 peptides with flagellin resulted in tumor suppression and long-term survival of tumor-bearing mice. In contrast to IVAG vaccination, intranasal (IN) or subcutaneous (SC) immunization did not induce significant tumor suppression in the same model. The vaginal adjuvant effect of the flagellin was completely abolished in Toll-like receptor-5 (TLR5) knock-out mice. IVAG immunization with the E6/E7 peptides plus flagellin induced the accumulation of CD4<SUP>+</SUP> and CD8<SUP>+</SUP> cells and the expression of T cell activation-related genes in the draining genital lymph nodes (gLNs). The co-administered flagellin elicited antigen-specific IFNγ production in the gLNs and spleen. The intravaginally administered flagellin was found in association with CD11c<SUP>+</SUP> cells in the gLNs. Moreover, after immunization with a flagellin and the E6/E7 peptides, the TLR5 expression in gLN cells was significantly upregulated. These results suggest that flagellin serves as a potent vaginal adjuvant for a therapeutic peptide cancer vaccine through the activation of TLR5 signaling.</P>

<P><B>Background and Objectives</B></P><P>This study aims to investigate the clinical features, angiographic findings, and outcomes of younger Korean ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients.</P><P><B>Subjects and Methods</B></P><P>We analyzed major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry from November 2005 to October 2010. The registered patients were divided into two groups; young age group (<65 years) and old age group (≥65 years).</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The young age group included 5281 patients (age, 53±7.8 years), and the old age group included 4896 patients (age, 74.3±6.5 years). Male gender, smoking, family history, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome were more frequently observed in the young age group than in the old age group (89.5% vs. 59.3%, p<0.001; 77.3% vs. 47.2%, p<0.001; 11% vs. 4.6%, p<0.001; 11.2% vs. 7.7%, p<0.001; 67.6% vs. 62.9%, p<0.001). Most of the young Korean adults with STEMI complained of typical chest pain (89.8%), and they had a shorter symptom-to-door time (12±53.2 hours vs. 17.3±132 hours, p=0.010). The young age group showed a favorable prognosis, which was represented by the MACE, compared with the old age group at one month (1.8% vs. 2.8%, p=0.028), six months (6.8% vs. 8.2%, p<0.001), and twelve months (10.1% vs. 11.9%, p=0.025). However, there was no significant difference in the adjusted MACE rate at one month {hazard ratio (HR) 0.95, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.60-1.51, p=0.828} and twelve months (HR 0.86, 95% CI 0.68-1.10, p=0.233).</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Younger Korean adults with STEMI have clinical outcomes similar to old aged patients, and therefore, they should be treated intensively like the elderly patients.</P>

The history of nuclear fusion research in Korea is rather short compared to that of advanced countries. However, since the mid-1990s, at which time the construction of KSTAR was about to commence, fusion research in Korea has been actively carried out in a wide range of areas, from basic plasma physics to fusion reactor design. The flourishing of fusion research partly owes to the fact that industrial technologies in Korea including those related to the nuclear field have been fully matured, with their quality being highly ranked in the world. Successive pivotal programs such as KSTAR and ITER have provided diverse opportunities to address new scientific and technological problems in fusion as well as to draw young researchers into related fields. The frame of the Korean nuclear fusion program is now changing from a small laboratory scale to a large national agenda. Coordinated strategies from different views and a holistic approach are necessary in order to achieve optimal efficiency and effectiveness. Upon this background, the present paper reflects upon the road taken to arrive at this point and looks ahead at the coming future in nuclear fusion research activities in Korea.

Pine wood nematode (PWN), Bursaphelenchus xylophilus is associated with the pine wilt disease and transmitted by pine sawyer, Monochamus alternatus. Because pine sawyer has one-year life cycle, one natural infection of PWN is occurred a year. Therefore, artificial propagation method of PWN is needed to improve experiment associated with PWN. In this study, effect of diameter, paraffin sealing of twig and dosage on pine wood nematode reproduction in Japanese black pine, Pinus thunbergii. PWN reproduction was compared in twigs of P. thunbergii and P. densiflora. Numbers of reproduced PWN were higher with decreasing diameter of twig. Distance (5 and 10 cm) from inoculation site of PWN did not influence reproduction of PWN. Reproduced numbers of PWN were higher in the paraffin-sealing twig than non-sealing twig. Dosage of PWN influenced reproduction of PWN. Reproduction rate was the highest at the rate of 10 IJs (13.7 and 61.1-fold increasing in P. densiflora and P. thunbergii, respectively 30 days later) whereas lowest at the rate of 1000 Ijs (1.1 and 0.7-fold increasing in P. densiflora and P. thunbergii, respectively 30 days later). Numbers of reproduced PWN were more in P. thunbergii than P. densiflora.
