Weakly Nonergodic Dynamics in the Gross-Pitaevskii Lattice

<P>The microcanonical Gross-Pitaevskii (also known as the semiclassical Bose-Hubbard) lattice model dynamics is characterized by a pair of energy and norm densities. The grand canonical Gibbs distribution fails to describe a part of the density space, due to the boundedness of its kinetic energy spectrum. We define Poincare equilibrium manifolds and compute the statistics of microcanonical excursion times off them. The tails of the distribution functions quantify the proximity of the many-body dynamics to a weakly nonergodic phase, which occurs when the average excursion time is infinite. We find that a crossover to weakly nonergodic dynamics takes place inside the non-Gibbs phase, being unnoticed by the largest Lyapunov exponent. In the ergodic part of the non-Gibbs phase, the Gibbs distribution should be replaced by an unknown modified one. We relate our findings to the corresponding integrable limit, close to which the actions are interacting through a short range coupling network.</P>
Formulation and evaluation of spray dried liposomes of lopinavir for topical application

The anti-HIV therapy is the most capable disease management approach for HIV-AIDS, but its purpose could not fulfill to get maximum bioavailability. In this study, an attempt has been made to develop lopinavir–loaded phospholipid vesicles by using the spray-drying method. Lopinavir loaded spray-dried powder (L-SDP) has been transformed into the vesicles and characterized for physico-chemical properties. Penetration enhancers (PEs) containing cream have been formulated to deliver L-SDP through the skin. Vesicle showed globular shape, 270 nm particle size, polydispersity index (PDI) 0.239, − 34.34 mV zeta potential with 56.38 ± 1.24% entrapment efficiency. In-vitro drug release (%) study through a cellophane membrane showed extended drug release of drug from liposomal formulations in contrast to hydro-alcoholic drug solution (HAS), which released most of the drug within 3–4 h and higher drug release than drug cream. The penetration enhancers (PEs) were selected after investigating their ability to enhance membrane fluidity by FTIR, which showed encouraging outcomes. L-SDP cream with PEs subjected for ex-vivo drug release and skin deposition study using goat facial skins. The cream showed superior drug deposition as well as drug release. The cream containing peppermint oil showed tenfold higher (57.2%) than drug cream (5.91%) and olive oil showed 44.9% drug release.

A mesoporous metal-organic-framework with amino group, PCN-100, was modified with terephthaloylchloride (TC). The adsorption/delivery of vitamin E were carried out with pristine PCN-100, TC-modifiedPCN-100 (TC-PCN-100) and activated carbon (AC). The adsorbed quantity was in the order: AC < TC-PCN-100 < PCN-100; however, the delivery rate was in the order: TC-PCN-100 < PCN-100 < AC. Importantly,the release rate of vitamin E from TC-PCN-100 was considerably lower than that from PCN-100 and AC;and this slow release could be explained with hydrophobic, p–p and H-bonding interactions. Moreover,the delivery rate from PCN-100s could be decreased by decreasing pH.
Glacier changes monitoring in Bhutan High Himalaya using remote sensing technology

The primary objectives of this study are to identify glacier cover, detect changes of glacier from 1978 to 2017 in Bhutan, and identification of vulnerable zone based on glacier changes. Landsat images and remote sensing (RS) techniques, Maximum Likelihood Classification approach of Supervised Learning of image processing has been utilized to detect and monitor the glacier cover changes of Bhutan over the years (1978-2017). The study results revealed that total area of the glacier changes in 1978 and 2017 has decreased by 2.54%. Most of the glacier zones are found in the northern part of the country, basically near the Greater Himalayan Mountain Range. Gasa, Bamthung and Lhuentse districts of Bhutan were found to have more glacier changes area than the other districts, that the areas experienced more changes of glacier cover over 40 years. Where more changes in the glacier are detected, the area should be more vulnerable in terms of both landslide, unreliability in growing useful land covers and Glacier Lakes Outburst Floods (GLOFS) in downstream area.

Background : Lactuca sativa (LS) is a member of lactuca genus and the Asteraceae family. To its usual purpose as an edible leafy vegetable, lettuce has had a number of uses in ancient times as a medicinal herb. Depending on the variety, lettuce is an excellent source vitamin K and vitanin A. Methods and Results : The objective of this study is to find out the antioxidant and oxidative DNA damage prevention capacity of LS for both water and ethanol extract. The total phenolic and flavonoid contents have been estimated in this study. The extracts have been tested to assess the 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2ʹ -azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and nitrite scavenging activity. We have also evaluated the reducing power activity of LS. LS extracts showed a good radical scavenging activity on DPPH and ABTS free radical as concentration dependent manner. The IC50 values on DPPH radical scavenging activity were 0.75 mg/mL and 0.54 mg/mL for water and ethanol extract respectively. ABTS radical scavenging activity ranges from 38-89 % for water extract and 33-96% for ethanol extract. Although ethanolic extract showed a higher radical scavenging activity as compared to the water extracts. All the extracts exhibited reducing power activity, dose dependently. Moreover, when the DNA was treated with the extracts, supercoiled DNA was restored in a concentration-dependent manner. Conclusion : According to the results, we suggest that LS contains considerable amount of phenolic and flavonoid content and could be used as a source of natural antioxidant substances and oxidative DNA damage preventer.
Design Factors of High-Speed Turbo-Electric Distributed Propulsion System

Turbo-electric Distributed Propulsion (TeDP) is a promising concept to achieve the operational goals of more electric aircraft. The application of TeDP architecture can achieve the desired weight reduction of an aircraft power system. The use of a superconducting machine is expected to provide the workaround for the weight issue, but its current state of technology has not yet been extensively tested for aircraft applications. Another more practical option is to directly couple the aircraft's propeller system to a high-speed permanent magnet (PM) electrical machine, eliminating the gear part that also contributes to the total weight. A critical part of the design for a high-speed PM machine is choosing the optimum magnet configurations. This study used finite element modelling to analyze the impact of scaling the PM’s critical parameters on the weight and machine speed. A prototype testing of a 2-KW high-speed machine, suitable for a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), was developed and tested. The results confirmed the following critical parameters that should be carefully designed to achieve the optimum output, such as the (a) number of winding turns, (b) stack length, (c) sleeve thickness, and (d) terminal voltage.
