Distribution of Factors Affecting Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN Countries

Purpose: Research on attracting foreign direct investment plays an important role in ASEAN countries. ASEAN has needed FDI capital for development and integration with many developing countries. Research design, data and methodology: This study is conducted to assess the impact of factors: inflation (INF), economic growth (GDP), population (POP), and trade (TRADE) on attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) of ASEAN countries. The study will find out how factors distribution contributes to FDI attraction. The study collects data from 10 ASEAN countries from 2010 to 2020. With data collected for ten countries from 2010 to 2020, data analysis with panel data will be used in this study. The Regression with Driscoll-Kraay standard errors correction model will be used in the study. Results: Panel data analysis shows that economic growth and population positively impact FDI attraction in ASEAN countries. However, two factors: INF and TRADE, do not affect FDI. Conclusions: Countries need to focus on economic development, create many good conditions for people and domestic enterprises and create opportunities for foreign investors to pay more attention. improving the quality of domestic human resources will help to better improve the working quality factor when the demand for high-quality human resources increases.

In this work, we study the magnetic properties of a CoFe/NiFe/PZT heterostructured nanocompositethat is affected by the strain in the PZT substrate when a voltage in the range from –250to 250 V is applied. An interesting electric-voltage-controlled magnetic anisotropy, with a relativeincrease in magnetization up to above 100%, is observed. This brings a new challenge to operate alow-power-consuming spin electronic device. We also utilize a theoretical model based on interfacecharge-mediated and strain-mediated magnetic-electric coupling to understand the change in themagnetic properties of the investigated material.

Backgrounds/Aims: Parenchymal-sparing anatomical hepatectomy (Ps–AH) based on portal ramification of the right anterior section (RAS) is a new technique to avoid unnecessarily transecting too much liver parenchyma, especially in cases of major anatomical hepatectomy. Methods: We prospectively assessed 26 patients with primary hepatic malignancies having undergone major Ps–AH based on portal ramification of the RAS from August 2018 to August 2022 (48 months). The perioperative indications, clinical data, intra-operative index, pathological postoperative specimens, postoperative complications, and follow-up results were retrospectively evaluated. Results: Among the 26 patients analyzed, there was just one case that had intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma The preoperative level of α– Fetoprotein was 25.2 ng/mL. All cases (100%) had Child–Pugh A liver function preoperatively. The ventral/dorsal RAS was preserved in 19 and 7 patients, respectively. The mean surgical margin was 6.2 mm. The mean surgical time was 228.5 minutes, while the mean blood loss was 255 mL. In pathology, 5 cases (19.2%) had microvascular invasion, and in the group of HCC patients, 92% of all cases had moderate or poor tumor differentiation. Six cases (23.1%) of postoperative complications were graded over III according to the Clavien–Dindo system, including in three patients resistant ascites or intra-abdominal abscess that required intervention. Conclusions: Parenchymal-sparing anatomical hepatectomy based on portal ramification of the RAS to achieve R0-resection was safe and effective, with favorable short-term outcomes. This technique can be used widely in clinical practice.
Synthesis of Carbonyl Iron-reinforced Polystyrene by High Energy Ball Milling

Carbonyl iron (CI) is successfully incorporated as an additive into a polystyrene (PS) matrix via a highenergy ball milling method, under an n-hexane medium with volume fractions between 1% and 5% for electromagnetic interference shielding applications by the combination of magnetic CI and an insulating PS matrix. The morphology and the dispersion of CI are investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, which indicates a uniform distribution of CI in the PS matrix after 2 h of milling. The thermal behavior results indicate no significant degradation of the PS when there is a slight increase in the onset temperature with the addition of CI powder, when compared to the as-received PS pellet. After milling, there are no interactions between the CI and the PS matrix, as confirmed by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy. In this study, the milled CI-PS powder is extruded to make filaments, and can have potential applications in the 3-D printing industry.
The Effect of Trade Integration on Business Cycle Synchronization in East Asia

The paper aims to investigate the impact of trade integration on business cycle synchronization for the East Asian countries during 2005- 2017 based on the endogeneity hypothesis of Optimum Currency Area criteria. We test the determinants of business cycles by calculating bilateral trade, financial integration, and business cycle synchronization. Applying the system Generalized Method of Moments for dynamic panel data models, the results show that business cycle synchronization is highly associated with trade and financial integration. These findings confirm the endogeneity hypothesis that more trade integration will mitigate asymmetric shocks, and have a positive impact on the business cycle synchronization. The increased trade intensity and financial linkage lead to more correlated business cycles in East Asia. Apart from trade and financial integration, the trade structure differential, monetary policy similarity also influence the business cycle comovement. The significantly negative impact of trade structure differential on business cycle synchronization suggests that countries with less similar structures are more likely to undergo asymmetric shocks. The results also indicate that monetary policy matters for output comovement. This study recommends that the East Asian countries should focus on bilateral trade as well as financial integration with each other to reap benefits from the integration process.
Synthesis of Carbon Nanotubes on Steel Foils

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were synthesized by using a thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) at 800 ℃ in a mixture of C₂H₂, H₂ and N₂ gases with steel foils as both catalysts and substrates. More than 2 grams of CNTs were grown on approximately 7 grams of steel foil with a 0.5 cm² surface area after 30 minutes of growth. The effects of CVD parameters, such as the growth temperature and the deposition time, on the size and the morphology of the CNTs were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). We found that the optimized temperature and growth time for having high quality CNTs were 800 ℃ and 30 minutes, respectively. The purity of the CNTs was evaluated by using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and the result showed that the carbon content was approximately 93 wt.%. The graphite crystallinity of the CNTs was analyzed by using Raman spectroscopy. The steel foil was found to maintain its catalytic behavior after several growths. The technique holds great promise for use in mass production (approximately 120 grams CNTs per day) with signicantly reduced cost. Phylogenomic analysis and a systematic view of aquaporin family in rice

Global warming and climate changing nowadays are known as one of the most harmful factors concerning the yield of worldwide crop plants. To adapt with new challenges, a well-known strategy of plants is water-balance control. Aquaporins are a gene family of integral membrane proteins which play a central role in water transport regulation. By searching diverse databases, we expanded the number of rice aquaporin family from 33 to 37 genes. After that, the phylogenomic data integrating anatomical expression patterns consisting of 1150 affymetrix arrays and 209 Agilent 44K arrays, and stress responsible expression patterns were constructed and analyzed. The systemic overview of gene expression for rice aquaporin family is used to evaluate functional redundancy within this family and identify suitable target genes in response to water stress. Functional gene network mediated by water stress relating aquaporin genes also suggested a useful platform for further researches.
