        Assessing Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Progression by Using Perivascular Adipose Tissue Attenuation on Computed Tomography Angiography

        Objective: Recent studies have highlighted the active and potential role of perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) in atherosclerosis and aneurysm progression, respectively. This study explored the link between PVAT attenuation and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) progression using computed tomography angiography (CTA). Materials and Methods: This multicenter retrospective study analyzed patients with AAA who underwent CTA at baseline and follow-up between March 2015 and July 2022. The following parameters were obtained: maximum diameter and total volume of the AAA, presence or absence of intraluminal thrombus (ILT), maximum diameter and volume of the ILT, and PVAT attenuation of the aortic aneurysm at baseline CTA. PVAT attenuation was divided into high (> -73.4 Hounsfield units [HU]) and low (≤ -73.4 HU). Patients who had or did not have AAA progression during the follow-up, defined as an increase in the aneurysm volume > 10 mL from baseline, were identified. Kaplan–Meier and multivariable Cox regression analyses were used to investigate the association between PVAT attenuation and AAA progression. Results: Our study included 167 participants (148 males; median age: 70.0 years; interquartile range: 63.0–76.0 years), of which 145 (86.8%) were diagnosed with AAA accompanied by ILT. Over a median period of 11.3 months (range: 6.0–85.0 months), AAA progression was observed in 67 patients (40.1%). Multivariable Cox regression analysis indicated that high baseline PVAT attenuation (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] = 2.23; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.16–4.32; P = 0.017) was independently associated with AAA progression. This association was demonstrated within the patients of AAA with ILT subcohort, where a high baseline PVAT attenuation (aHR = 2.23; 95% CI, 1.08–4.60; P = 0.030) was consistently independently associated with AAA progression. Conclusion: Elevated PVAT attenuation is independently associated with AAA progression, including patients of AAA with ILT, suggesting the potential of PVAT attenuation as a predictive imaging marker for AAA expansion.

        Enhance the performance and stability of methylammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells with guanidinium thiocyanate additive

        Employing additive to regulate the morphology of perovskite film is an effective method to enhance both the power conversion efficiency and long term stability of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells. Here, we demonstrate that guanidinium thiocyanate (GuSCN) is a suitable additive for methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) perovskite materials. Addition of GuSCN into MAPbI3 can simultaneously enhance the crystallinity, enlarge the crystal size, and reduce the trap density of the perovskite films. As a result, the MAPbI3 perovskite with 10% GuSCN exhibits superior power conversion efficiency of 16.70% compared to the pristine MAPbI3 perovskite solar cell (15.57%). At the same time, the MAPbI3 perovskite solar cell with GuSCN additive shows better stability, power conversion efficiency retains ∼90% of its initial value compared to only ∼60% for pristine MAPbI3 perovskite solar cells after being stored for 15 days without encapsulation

        The development of college English teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge (PCK): from General English to English for Academic Purposes

        College English teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) is subject to change in the transition from the teaching of General English (GE) to that of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Underpinned by Grossman’s four-dimensional model of PCK, this study aims to investigate the trajectory of PCK development among college English teachers through the transition from GE to EAP in the Chinese context. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, multiple sources of data about three teachers were collected through semi-structured interviews, class observations, and teaching materials. Results show that teachers’ conceptions of the purpose of teaching EAP, as opposed to GE, are fundamental to PCK development. The development of diferent PCK components was mainly attributed to a variety of informal learning activities, which are insufcient for well-balanced development. Additionally, the development of PCK was hindered by teachers’ limited content knowledge. The fndings have signifcant implications for efective college English teacher development in the transition from GE teaching to EAP teaching.

        5G Network Slices Embedding with Sharable Virtual Network Functions

        Network slicing (NS) is recognized as a key technology for the 5G mobile network in enabling the network to support multiple diversified vertical markets over a shared physicalinfrastructure with efficiency and flexibility. A 5G NS instance iscomposed of a set of virtual network function (VNF) instances toform the end-to-end (E2E) virtual network for the slice to operateindependently. The deployment of a NS is a typical virtual network embedding (VNE) problem. We consider a scenario in whichVNF instances can be shared across multiple slices to further enhance the utilization ratio of the underlying physical resources. ForNSs with sharable VNF instances, the deployment of the slice instances is essentially the embedding of multiple virtual networkscoupled by the VNFs shared among slices. Hence, we formulatethis sharable-VNFs-based multiple coupled VNE problem (SVMVNE) through an integer linear program (ILP) formulation, anddesign a back-tracking coordinated virtual network mapping algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that VNF-sharing can enhance the slice acceptance ratio with the same physical network,which represents higher physical resource utilization. Moreover,our approach achieves higher acceptance ratio by comparing to abaseline algorithm.

        A Review of Advances in Triaxial Tests: Instruments, Test Techniques and Prospects

        Triaxial test is approved to be the most suitable method for studying the mechanical properties of rocks and soils in lab. Through conventional triaxial tests, parameters like the strength of rocks and soils can be obtained, thus providing guidance for the design and construction of geotechnical engineering. With the development of geotechnical engineering, more and more new problems that can hardly be solved by conventional triaxial tests have arisen, which can be classified into two categories: one is the mechanical properties of special soils (rocks), and the other is the mechanical properties of the soils (rocks) under special conditions like geologic hazards and multi-field coupling. The paper introduced several new types of triaxial instruments and test techniques developed in response to the problems, and prospects have been made for further study of triaxial tests, which may provide reference for the optimization of triaxial tests.
