Al1050/(Fe–Cu) hybrid surface composite was produced using friction stir processing (FSP). The effects of the weightfraction ratio of Fe and Cu powders in the composite and the process pass number (3 and 5 passes) were investigated onthe wear performance and microstructural features of the composite. The results showed that Al–Fe and Al–Cu binary andAl–Fe–Cu ternary intermetallic compounds were in-situ formed at the interface of the Fe–Cu powders and Al matrix. Nonuniformdistribution of the micron-sized and sub-micron particles in the stir zone had a main role in the formation of thebi-modal grain structure in the composite. The average friction coefficient of the composites decreased (up to ~ 40%) andthe wear resistance of the composites improved (up to ~ 85%) compared to the specimen processed without the reinforcingparticles. The composites with the equal weight fraction of Fe and Cu particles and the composites processed at 5 FSP passesshowed superior wear performance. The wear mechanism was changed from the adhesive wear in the 75Cu–25Fe-3 passesand 75Fe–25Cu-3 passes composites to the delamination wear in the 50Fe–50Cu-5 passes composite. The mentioned resultswere discussed in the light of the metallurgical aspects of the produced composites, i.e. uniformity of the aluminum matrixgrain structure and distribution of the reinforcing particles as well as the amount of the intermetallic compounds formed inthe composites.
Effect of laminate configuration on the free vibration/buckling of FG Graphene/PMMA composites
Zeverdejani, Mehran Karimi,Beni, Yaghoub Tadi Techno-Press 2020 Advances in nano research Vol.8 No.2
In this research, buckling and free vibration of rectangular polymeric laminate reinforced by graphene sheets are investigated. Various patterns are considered for augmentation of each laminate. Critical buckling load is evaluated for different parameters, including boundary conditions, reinforcement pattern, loading regime, and laminate geometric states. Furthermore, vibration analysis is investigated for square laminate. Elastic properties of the composite are calculated using a combination of both molecular dynamics (MD) and the rule of mixture (MR). Kinematics of the plate is approximated based on the first shear deformation theory (FSDT). The current analysis is performed based on the energy method. For the numerical investigation, Ritz method is applied, and for shape functions, Chebyshev polynomials are utilized. It is found that the number of layers is effective on the buckling load and natural frequency of laminates which made from non-uniform layers.

It was used green biosynthesized zinc oxide (ZnO) NPs (average diameter of 50–60 nm) with abilities of antibacterial against sensetive and MDR bacteria including Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Serratia marcescens ATCC13880, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 (gram negative), and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 43300 and Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12258 (gram positive). High reduction in biofilm formation was 63.43% (0.562 ± 0.015) and 62.88% (0.582 ± 0.025) at 100 μg/mL concentration against control for S. epidermidis and P. aeruginosa respectively. In conclusion, this investigation illustrated simple green synthesis of ZnO NPs with suitable advantages of antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-biofilm, anti-QS activities, and also anti-swarming motility against MDR bacteria.
Pleuropulmonary blastoma is a rare malignancy in young adult and childhood
Soheila Zareifar,Mehran Karimi,Mandana Tasbihi,Babak Abdolkarimi,Bita Geramizadeh 대한종양외과학회 2015 Korean Journal of Clinical Oncology Vol.11 No.1
Pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) is a rare childhood cancer occurs in the chest; specifically in the lungs or pleura with various histopathological appearances. Treatment for type I consist of surgery and possibly chemotherapy; for types II and III PPB surgery, chemotherapy and possibly radiation therapy. In this case report we present 2 patients with PPB which were unrecognized for several weeks and managed as pneumonia with pleural effusion. These cases are interesting because of the diagnostic difficulties and radiographic appearances.

The focus of the present study is to investigate the effectiveness of installing vortex breakers at the outlet of launch vehicle tanks on postponing vortex formation and decreasing the critical height of propellants while discharging. Analytical results in the absence of a vortex breaker show that the effects of the Weber and Reynolds numbers in the flow field can be ignored for values greater than 720 and 1.1 × 105, respectively; and critical height can be considered as a function of Froude number under aforementioned conditions. The analytical criteria are verified by two-dimensional, axis symmetrical, transient and two-phase numerical model. Eventually, some experiments are conducted to examine the effectiveness of the applied vortex breakers in reduction of the critical height of propellant. Experimental results show that a 30% decrease can be achieved in critical height by using a particular type of vortex breaker. Additionally, the carried out simulations for an existing two-stage launch vehicle indicate a 13% increase in orbital altitude, which in turn proves the considerable improvement in launch vehicle mass/energetic capabilities.

Background: Whether there is any relationship between human papilloma virus (HPV) and breast carcinoma is not clear. Some previous studies have indicated a possible role in oncogenesis in the breast. In this study, we therefore analyzed the presence of HPV infection in breast tissues of Iranian women from Yazd city. Materials and Methods: In a cross-sectional study, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues from 87 patients with breast cancer and 84 cases with breast fibrocystic lesions (control group) were selected from a tissue archive. Grade of tumors and fibrocystic tissues were determined by two pathologists. The nested-PCR method was performed for detection of HPVs in samples. HPV genotypes were determined by sequencing and the phylogenetic tree depicted by MEGA software. Results: Of the 87 women with breast cancer, 22.9% (20 isolates) had positive results for HPV DNA. In the control group no HPV was detected. The HPV genotypes in positive samples were HPV-16 (35%) HPV-18 (15%), HPV-6 (45%) and HPV-11 (5%). The data did not approved a significant correlation between tissue pathology of breast cancer and the HPV genotype frequency. Conclusions: The data did not provide any evidence for a role of high risk HPV types in oncogenesis in the breast.

Objective: This study compared the safety and efficacy of Safacto® versus xyntha® in patients with severe hemophilia A. Methods: Thirty-three male patients with severe hemophilia A were randomly divided into two groups. Seventeen patients received Safacto® and 16 patients received Xyntha® for four consecutive times. The dosage of FVIII was 40-50 IU/kg for each injection. Plasma level of FVIII activity was evaluated before every injection, 15 minutes after the injection and one month after the start of the trial. The rate of factor VIII activity, pain and joint motion were also assessed before and after the treatment. Results: Plasma level of FVIII clotting activity in Safacto® and Xyntha® were 1.96±0.5 IU/dl and 1.63±0.5 IU/dl and increased to 88.84±25.2 IU/dl and 100.09±17.8 IU/ dl, respectively (P<0.001). Pain score and range of motion improvement were 9.3±0.9 and 8.7±0.1 in Safacto® (P=0.17); and 9.4±0.8 and 8.8±0.3 in Xyntha® (P=0.35), respectively. No allergic or other unfavorable reactions was observed with either of the preparations. Conclusion: This study showed that Safacto® has a favorable efficacy and safety profile.
