      • 미세조류 Dunaliella bardawil을 이용한 β-carotene 생산조건에 관한 연구

        Low-growth rates favor β-carotene accumulation under conditions of stress, light intensity and wave length, oxygen free radicals, and high salinity. It was found from shake flask experiments that high density of algal cultures can be increased by the following environmental condition : white fluorescent light compared with blue and red light, addition five times concentrated medium, mixture of 104㎖/day CO_2 gas and 250mM sodium bicarbonate, and pH 8.0. The periodic feeding of 7mM nitrate ion under the nitrogen limitation condition enhanced the cell concentration up to 9 × 10 exp (6) cells/㎖ compared with 1.5 × 10 exp (6) cells/㎖ of the control culture. An photobioreactor system was successfully for algal growth and resulted in max cell density of 4.2 × 10 exp (6) cells/㎖ in comparison with that of batch flask culture(generally max cell density of batch flask culture is about 3.0 × 10 exp (6) cells/㎖). The following induction conditions such as change of salinity(NaCl), oxygen free radicals1 (H_2O_2), and blue light favored the massive accumulation of β -carotene. The change of culture conditions from a phase of favorable high cell density to that of optimum induction factors resulted in increased productivity.

        Multimedia streaming is a trend in VANETs infotainment service with establishment of infrastructure and communication standards. This paper considers the scenario of live multimedia streaming multicast to vehicles. We propose the relay selection scheme to deliver media streaming with stable link to improve QoS (quality of service). Through evaluation, our proposed scheme is able to have video delivered with a satisfying delay and acceptable loss ratio.

        전방 추체 유합술의 이식골 공여부와 연관된 합병증의 경과

        Large blocks of corticocancellous bone are required for anterior interbody fusion, and are usually taken from the anterior aspect of the ilium. However many studies have shown that the iliac crest autograft harvest is not risk free. The present study was designed to determine the cause, rate, and risk factors for iliac crest donor site complications. The purpose of this study was to identify problems amenable to procedural improvement that could further decrease iliac crest donor site morbidity. The author prospectively evaluated 45 patients who had no cord injury and underwent anterior interbody fusion using autogenous iliac bone graft between June 1994 and December 1994. Thirtyeight patients were available at the final follow-up. The study group was composed with these 38 patients, 17 men and 21 women, with average age of 41.7 years (range, 25-67 years). The average duration of follow-up was eighteen months (range, fifteen to twenty montys). Bone graft was taken from the anterior two-third of the ilium, approached through a separate incision overlying to the iliac crest. A full thickness tricortical block was taken using reciprocating saw. The morbidities were periodically evaluated by physical examination and visual analogue scale(VAS). The average score of the donor site pain was 40.3 points at two weeks postoperatively, and it was markedly improved to 18.1 pints at three months. At one year follow-up evalution, the score was 9.4 points. Sensory deficit was noted in 34 patients (89.5%) and motor weakness was in 35 patients (92%) at two weeks postoperatively. The numbers of the patients with these deficits were decreased to five and six respectively by three months after the operation. Of ten patients complained limping gait, one had weakness of hip flexor and mild limping gait at final follow-up.

        Optimized Properties of a Quenching and Partitioning Steel by Quenching at Fine Martensite Start Temperature

        Five quenching temperatures were designed to investigate the relationship between volume fraction of retained austenite andmicrostructure, mechanical properties of a medium carbon quenching and partitioning (Q&P) steel. It is normally acceptedthat the optimal mechanical property of Q&P steels is obtained by quenching at optimum temperature, which corresponds tothe maximum amount of retained austenite. However, the present work clarified that maximum volume fraction of retainedaustenite in Q&P steels is indeed unrelated to the optimum mechanical property of steels. The microstructure consisting ofcoarse martensite laths, dispersive bainite and thin retained austenite films was obtained by quenching at fine martensite starttemperature (FMs), resulting in the optimum comprehensive mechanical property of Q&P steel with the better elongationat the expense of slightly smaller yield strength and tensile strength.

        Expression of the RERG Gene is Gender-Dependent in Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Regulated by Histone Deacetyltransferases

        <P>Ras-related, estrogen-regulated, and growth-inhibitory gene (RERG) is a novel gene that was first reported in breast cancer. However, the functions of RERG are largely unknown in other tumor types. In this study, RERG expression was analyzed in hepatocellular carcinomas of human patients using reverse transcriptase PCR analysis. In addition, the possible regulation of RERG expression by histone deacetyltransferases (HDACs) was studied in several cell lines. Interestingly, the expression of RERG gene was increased in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) of male patients (57.9%) but decreased in HCC of females (87.5%) comparison with paired peri-tumoral tissues. Moreover, RERG gene expression was increased in murine hepatoma Hepa1-6 cells, human breast tumor MDA-MB-231 cells, and mouse normal fibroblast NIH3T3 cells after treated by HDAC inhibitor, trichostatin A. Our results suggest that RERG may function in a gender-dependent manner in hepatic tumorigenesis and that the expression of this gene may be regulated by an HDAC-related signaling pathway.</P>

        Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)을 이용한 동통평가의 유용성

        In spine injury pain is the overwhelming indicator for treatment. Despite of its widespread prevalence, objective data assessing the pain and the results of various forms of treatment are largely lacking in Korea. In order to compare the value of different types of treatment, it is necessary to develop standardized and meaningful forms of assessment. Thirty-nine patients with a diagnosis of spinal stenosis, spodylolisthesis or herniated disc entered the study. Mean age was 48 ranged from 24 to 71. An initial questionnaire was developed by adoption of the Million's Pain Score. Each question was answered by patients. Marking on a Visual Analogue Scale and repeated one bour later. Statistical analysis using SPSS(V3.2) was performed for reproducibility of the questionnaire. The questions shown unsatisfactory degree of agreement (a correlation less than 0.7) were replaced with new questions seeking similar information but designed to produce less confusion than its predecessor. The revised questionnaires were asked and analyzed in same manner as the previous procedure. With initial questionnaire, the mean scores did not show significant difference between the answers of the first visit and the second. The overall degree of agreement was 0.7720. Questions 4. 5. 6 and 12, however, showed unsatisfactory degree of agreement. With revised questionnaire, the mean scores had no significant difference between the answers of the first visit and the second. The overall degree of agreement was improved to 0.8878. All questions showed satisfactory dcgree of agrccment. This questionnaire is thought to be helpful to assess patient's subjective symptoms, and analyze and compare the results of various forms of treatments. Although satisfactory, there is still room for some further improvement.

      • 超音波가 家兎의 骨成長端에 미치는 영향에 關한 實驗的 硏究

        The problems which are concerning the bony growth by way of any kinds of procedures and materials has been considered in numerous reports and this study is until controversial in the field of the Orthopedic surgery. As a part of this task, some anthers reported that the ultrasound may affect the epiphyseal plate on growing bone in experimental study. But the results are not clearly defined and not identical each other, but the epiphyseal area of growing bone is generally considered a contraindicated site for ultrasonic therapy. Arden(1957), Bender(1954), Buchtala(1948), De Forest(1953) and Maintz(1950) showed that damage occurs to bone cortex and bone marrow with high intensities of ultrasound. Arden and Maintz showed that increased osteogenesis of bone revealed with low intensities of ultrasound and Arden defined the critical dose as 10 watts/cm2. But it is not generally accepted that the low intensities of ultrasonic exposure does not effect upon the epiphyses in growing rabbit. To clarify the effect of ultrasonic exposure upon the growing epiphyses in rabbit, the auther observed the difference in bone length, microscopic appearance, rate and manner of epiphyseal closure betwen the treated and control leg in 5 different doses of ultrasonic exposure. A series of 40rabbits of the same age was treated with 2, 4, 8,10,12 watts/cm2 for five minutes daily. There were treated 5 days a week, from the age 3 months until X-ray evidence of epiphyseal closure was obtained. The ultrasonic apparatus which was used in designed for use clinically(Lindquist) with a round head transducer. The rabbit's hind leg was held in position under water by a strap around the foot in special fixation device and kept the water at a temperature of 36 C with thermostatic heater. A baseline X-ray was taken of both right(treated) and left(control) hind legs before treatment was begun(at age of 3 months) and begining at age 5 months, weekly X-ray were made until evidence of epiphyseal closure appeared. When closure of the epiphyses was noted, the animal was sacrificed and the length of the disarticulated tibiae and humeri was measured. The tibiae was then split and fixed in formalin and microscopic slide were made of the decalcified material. The results of the experiment are as follows: 1. The ultrasound has no significant effect on bone length in growing rabbit by statistical analysis. 2. The ultrasound has no significant effect on the closure time of the epiphyseal plate in 5 different doses. 3. Histological examination of the upper epiphysell areas of the both tibiae reveals no difference between treated and control group in lower dosage, but in high dosages of ultrasound there was a slight degree of increased vascularity and scattered foci of mitosis in the treated legs. 4. From this study, the auther concluded that in the rabbit ultrasound applied in this dosage and in this manner has no significant effect on bone length, 'epiphyseal closure time, and microscopic examination.

      • Highly Reliable Top-Gated Thin-Film Transistor Memory with Semiconducting, Tunneling, Charge-Trapping, and Blocking Layers All of Flexible Polymers

        <P>The core components of a floating-gate organic thin-film transistor nonvolatile memory (OTFT-NVM) include the semiconducting channel layer, tunneling layer, floating-gate layer, and blocking layer, besides three terminal electrodes. In this study, we demonstrated OTFT-NVMs with all four constituent layers made of polymers based on consecutive spin-coating. Ambipolar charges injected and trapped in a polymer electret charge-controlling layer upon gate program and erase field successfully allowed for reliable bistable channel current levels at zero gate voltage. We have observed that the memory performance, in particular the reliability of a device, significantly depends upon the thickness of both blocking and tunneling layers, and with an optimized layer thickness and materials selection, our device exhibits a memory window of 15.4 V, on/off current ratio of 2 × 10<SUP>4</SUP>, read and write endurance cycles over 100, and time-dependent data retention of 10<SUP>8</SUP> s, even when fabricated on a mechanically flexible plastic substrate.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/aamick/2015/aamick.2015.7.issue-20/acsami.5b02213/production/images/medium/am-2015-02213z_0006.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/am5b02213'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
