A resurrection has started in haploid and double haploid research in the twenty-first century. The haploid and double haploid could be achieved through in vivo and in vitro anther and microspore culture techniques. Fixing the homozygosity is the most striking benefit of androgenesis. Various factors like genotypic dependency, growth condition, developmental stage of the microspore, pre-treatment, culture media, regeneration media, growth hormones, and various chemicals have a direct effect. Wheat, rice, Brassica, and tobacco are the notable crops where anther and microspore culture has been utilized. These haploidy and double haploidy through anther culture served many purposes of basic and applied research. Especially, double haploid cultivars have been cultivating around the globe. In addition, for chromosome mapping, QTL mapping, marker-assisted selection, marker-assisted backcrossing, mutation breeding, genome-wide association study, genomic engineering, and genome editing, androgenesis based haploid and double haploid plants have been exploited due to the effectiveness. Recently, researchers are trying to explain albinism that happens during anther culture from an epigenetic perspective. Further prospects of haploid and doubled haploid research through anther culture have been described in this review.
Analysis of Aging Effect on Human Walking Gait Using Detrended Fluctuation Analysis Technique

Movement of center of gravity of the human body plays a crucial part in the stability of the human walking. In this paper, we have investigated the effect of aging on the acceleration of center of gravity using a portable 3D acceleration measurement system. Acceleration of the center of gravity data of young and elderly subjects is analyzed during normal walking using detrended fluctuation analysis technique. It was observed that the scaling exponents of elderly subjects in short term region are less than young subjects. It shows that walking of elderly subjects is less correlated in the short-term region putting them on more risk of falls.

This study was conducted in the saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) for the occurrence of various surgical affections with their clinical management. During the period of January 2006 to June 2008, a total of 68 adult crocodiles were considered as reference population from the Reptiles Farm Ltd. at Bhaluka, Mymensingh. The occurrence of surgical affections of adult female (88.9%) was significantly (P<0.01) higher than male (11.1%). Prevalence of common surgical affections were wound: 72.2%, fibroma: 11.1% abscess: 5.6%, fracture: 5.6%, tail necrosis: 2.8%, myiasis: 2.8%. Wound was the highest among the affections. Among the identified wounds, biting wound was higher. In summer (57.7%) the occurrence of wound was higher compared to other seasons. In winter season (7.7%) the occurrence of abscess, myiasis, fibroma were higher compared to other seasons. Wounds and fibroma are the major surgical affections in salt water crocodile. The most common site of surgical affection was recorded in crocodile's tail (30.6%). It was suggested that minimal stress, allowing constant and easy access to water, removal of roots of the tree in the basking land of crocodiles pen, basking land of the pen is better filling up by sand, clinical surgical managements are essential for better health and production.

Responsiveness of the testis to pregnant mare's serum gonadotropin (PMSG) was studied in immature Nili-Ravi buffalo bulls. Four month old bull calves weighing between 66 to 100 kg raised under uniform condition, were treated with 1000 IU PMSG or vehicle, daily, for six days. PMSG induced an increase in the size of the testis, enlargement of the seminiferous tubules and activation of the spermatogonia. The number of differentiated Leydig cells in the testis of gonadotropin treated animals increased considerably over that of the control testes. A significant increase in plasma testosterone concentrations was observed 24 h following the first injection of PMSG and the levels continued to increase until day 6. In vehicle treated animals plasma testosterone levels remained more or less at pretreatment values. The data suggest that buffalo bull testis is functionally responsive to gonadotropin at an early stage of prepubertal development.

Structural, electronic, optical, and thermoelectric aspects of chalcopyrite LiGaX2 (X=S, Se and Te) compounds have been investigated by density functional theory (DFT) based Wien2k simulator. The optimized ground state parameters are calculated by Wu-Cohen generalized gradient approximation (WC-GGA) and electronic structures, which have been further improved by modified Becke-Johnson (mBJ) potential. Moreover, a comparative study is given among the contribution of three anions (S, Se and Te) in the same symmetry of tetragonal phase. The calculated band gaps of the studied compounds are 3.39, 2.83, and 1.96 eV for LiGaS2, LiGaSe2 and LiGaTe2, respectively. The observed band gaps consider the studied compounds are potential materials for optoelectronic devices. In addition, the optical response of the studied materials has been analyzed in terms of dielectric constants, refraction, absorption, reflectivity and energy loss function. We have also reported the thermoelectric properties like Seebeck coefficient, thermal and electrical conductivities, and figure of merit as function of temperatures by using BoltzTrap code. The high thermal efficiency and absorption spectra in the visible region make the studied materials multifunctional for energy applications.

In hadrontherapy, secondary fragments are generated by nuclear interactions of the incident heavy ion beam with the atomic nuclei of the target. It is important to determine the yield of production and the dose contribution of these secondary fragments in order to determine the radiobiological effectiveness more accurately. This work aims to fully identify the secondary fragments generated by nuclear interactions of proton and helium (4He) ion beams in a High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) target and to investigate the dose contributions by secondary fragments. Incident protons with energies of 55.90 MeV and 105.20 MeV and helium ions with energies of 52.55 MeV/u and 103.50 MeV/u in the HDPE phantom have been investigated by the means of Geant4 Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Simulated results were validated using NASA Space Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) Bragg curves experimental data. The results showed that the dose contribution of secondary fragments deriving from helium ion beams is three times higher than in the case of proton beams. This is due to a higher production of nuclear fragments in the case of helium ion beams. This work contributes to a better understanding of secondary fragments generated by protons and helium ions in the HDPE target.
Investigation of half metallicity in Fe doped CdSe and Co doped CdSe materials

The objective of the present work is to evaluate half metallicity and spin dependent transport properties of iron doped CdSe and cobalt doped CdSe compounds. The spin-polarized band structures (semiconductor in one spin state and conductor in the other spin state) predict that Cd0.875Fe0.125Se and Cd0.875Co0.125Se are half metals. The calculated crystal filed splitting energy show larger energy gap between eg and t2g for Fe than Co doped CdSe compound. Furthermore, magnetization, exchange coupling and band-gap increase with decrease in the lattice constant. Overall, Cd0.875Fe0.125Se and Cd0.875Co0.125Se in the zinc-blend phase show half-metallic ferromagnetic nature and are expected to be potential materials for spintronic devices.
