Influence of synergistic effect of phosphate on corrosion resistance of self-assembled superhydrophobic composite film on 6061 aluminum alloy surfaces

        Likui Wang,Shichen Lu,Feng Xie,Hanyu Liu,Jiaping Li,Wei Shang,Zhe Zhang,Yuqing Wen 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.128 No.-

Aluminum (Al) alloys are used in a wide range of applications due to their advantages. However, theexisting corrosion protection methods have insufficient protection ability and cannot achieve longtermprotection. In this paper, reactive protective film on the surface of aluminum alloys using 1-hydroxyethyl-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) molecules. Then, Lauric acid/Graphene (LA/rGO) film is usedto prepared on the surface of HEDP film. SEM, XRD, EDS, Raman, XPS and WCA were conducted to analyzephysical and chemical features of coatings. The total resistance of the film reaches 1.0 1020 Xcm2, in asalt spray test using 5wt% NaCl as the corrosion medium, corrosion spots appeared on day 28 with a corrosioninhibition efficiency of 99.99%. Theoretical studies with quantum chemical calculations haveshown that HEDP/LA/rGO composite films can be adsorbed on Al alloy surfaces through P-O-Al and PO-C chemical bonding. The influence of phosphate synergistic effect on the corrosion resistance of theself-assembled superhydrophobic composite film on the surface of 6061 aluminum alloy is discussed. This study presents a scientific and innovative design concept to develop coatings with excellent corrosionprotection for aluminum alloy, and then extend their application to certain areas.

Comestible and temperature effects on the biological traits of fall armyworms, Spodoptera frugiperda

        Li Fen,Wang Likui,Lu Rongcai,Peng Zhengqiang,Malhat Farag,Lyu Baoqian,Wu Shaoying 한국곤충학회 2021 Entomological Research Vol.51 No.10

Spodoptera frugiperda is considered a serious pest for many crops throughout the world. Here, we develop an easy and quick-to-prepare solid medium with multiple benefits, including reductions in cost, post-rearing waste, storage space, and labor, for rearing S. frugiperda larvae. The body length and weight at each development stage showed no differences with those of the corn leaves treatment group (P > 0.05). The development time of F0 generation from the first to adults stage was 51.27 ± 4.62 days when the larvae were reared on artificial diet, which is slightly longer than the 50.69 ± 4.56 days for those reared on corn leaves diet (P > 0.05). The temperature changes have no effect on body length and weight when the fall armyworms are reared on artificial diet, however, the influence of temperature change on development was more obvious. The development time was significantly longer at 18°C and shorter at 35°C than that at 25°C (P < 0.05). Furthermore, in the age-specific two-sex life table method, the life table parameters (i.e., r, λ, R0, GRR) significantly decreased at 18°C and 35°C compared with those at 25°C. The age–stage survival rate of S. frugiperda was higher on artificial diet at 25°C than 18°C, 35°C, and on corn leaves at 25°C in all stages. The 35°C temperature change had more influence on the age–stage survival than the other temperatures. This study provided ideal indoor breeding conditions for fall armyworm and sufficient materials for further indoor and outdoor research.

Construction of porous anodic oxide/Ce-MOFs film by induced electrodeposition and its corrosion resistance

Yijun Cao,Likui Wang,Shichen Lu,Yuqing Wen,Wei Shang 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.122 No.-

Aluminum alloy has good expansion and low hardness. However, aluminum alloy is susceptible to corrosionin humid environments, limiting their application. In this experiment, we adopted an efficientand facile method to prepare porous anodic oxide (PAO) films and PAO/Ce-MOFs composite films. Itcan be characterized by SEM, EDS, FT-IR, XRD, XPS and other test methods. The corrosion resistance isstudied by neutral salt spray test and electrochemical test. Electrochemical data show that the resistanceof PAO/Ce-MOFs film is three orders of magnitude higher than that of aluminum alloy substrate, and thecorrosion current density is three orders of magnitude lower than that of aluminum alloy substrate, reaching 1.621 108 A/cm2. The corrosion resistance efficiency is 99.92%. The salt spray experimentshows that the film can maintain the corrosion resistance for 30d. The results show that Ce-MOFs coatingcan effectively improve the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy. Therefore, this study provides a newapproach in the application of MOFs materials in the direction of anticorrosion.

Identification of serine protease, serine protease homolog and prophenoloxidase genes in Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

        Yang Lei,Xing Binglin,Wang Likui,Yuan Linlin,Manzoor Mujahid,Li Fen,Wu Shaoying 한국응용곤충학회 2021 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.24 No.4

In insects, proteolytic cascades medicated by serine proteases (SPs), serine protease homologs (SPHs) and prophenoloxidases (PPOs) control several physiological processes, notably the innate immunity. However, no attempts have been made to identify and characterize these genes in Spodoptera frugiperda, one of the most destructive agricultural pests. In this study, 83 SPs, 26 SPHs and four PPOs were respectively identified in S. frugiperda genome based on homology blast against those of other insects. We then analyzed the domain organization of these proteins and assigned them into different groups by phylogenetic reconstruction. Furthermore, the mRNA levels of clip-domain SPs/SPHs (cSPs/cSPHs) and PPOs were quantified in response to a mixed infection of Micrococcus luteus and Escherichia coli, and obvious accumulations were recorded in immune tissues, including hemocytes and fat body. In the latter study, we profiled the expression patterns of highly expressed cSPs and PPOs in different developmental stages, including egg, larva, pupa, female and male adults. It was shown that most cSPs were abundantly expressed in adults, while PPOs were detected at high levels in both egg and larval stages. These current findings substantially add to our understanding of the roles of S. frugiperda SPs, SPHs and PPOs in immune regulation and further lay a solid foundation for uncovering the interaction mechanisms between insects and pathogens.
