Composite of Indium and Polysorbate 20 as Inhibitor for Zinc Corrosion in Alkaline Solution

        Li, Xiaoping,Liang, Man,Zhou, Hebing,Huang, Qiming,Lv, Dongsheng,Li, Weishan Korean Chemical Society 2012 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.33 No.5

The combined use of indium and polysorbate 20 (Tween 20) was considered as a new inhibition technique for zinc corrosion. Zn and Zn-In alloy coatings were prepared by electrodeposition and their morphology and composition were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). The corrosion inhibition effect of indium and Tween 20 on zinc was investigated by polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The corrosion inhibition efficiencies obtained from Tafel and EIS analyses are well in agreement. Zinc corrosion can be inhibited to some extent by the individual use of indium and Tween 20 and higher corrosion inhibition efficiency can be obtained by the combined use of indium and Tween 20.

Composition modulation of Cu/Cu2O/CuO nanoparticles supported on carbon for p-nitrophenol reduction

        Jia Li,Wei Liu,Yongxin Ding,Likui Liu,Fang Li,Qiming Li 한국화학공학회 2019 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.36 No.6

Porous carbon supported Cu/Cu2O/CuO ternary catalysts were fabricated by pyrolysis, in which composition modulation of Cu/Cu2O/CuO was successfully realized by adjusting annealing atmosphere. The correlation between annealing atmosphere and composition of Cu/Cu2O/CuO ternary nanoparticles was deeply investigated. XRD and SEM measurement shows that the composition proportion of Cu/Cu2O/CuO can be effectively controlled by adjusting the annealing atmosphere. HR-TEM and EDS analysis showed that Cu/Cu2O/CuO ternary nanoparticles are highly dispersed into the carbon matrix and harvest more hetero-junction active sites. The effect of Cu/Cu2O/CuO composition on their catalytic activity was investigated in catalytic reduction from p-nitrophenol to p-aminophenol. The experimental result indicated that the catalytic activity of Cu/Cu2O/CuO ternary catalysts exhibits higher catalytic activity than Cu2O/CuO or CuO particles. This work provides a new strategy for synthesizing and modulating porous carbon-supported Cu/Cu2O/CuO ternary nanoparticles.

      • An Improved Multi-objective Evolutionary Algorithm for Multi-Objective 0/1 Knapsack Problem

Zhanguo Li,Qiming Wang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.10 No.5

To further enhance the distribution uniformity and extensiveness of the solution sets and to ensure effective convergence of the solution sets to the Pareto front, we proposed a MOEA approach based on a clustering mechanism. We named this approach improved multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (LMOEA). This algorithm uses a clustering technology to compute and maintain the distribution and diversity of the solution sets. A fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm is used for clustering individuals. Finally, the LMOEA is applied to solve the classical multi-objective knapsack problems. The algorithm performance was evaluated using convergence and diversity indicators. The proposed algorithm achieved significant improvements in terms of algorithm convergence and population diversity compared with the classical NSGA-II and the MOEA/D.

Machine Learning Complex Interactions Among Recovery, Precipitation, and Recrystallization for Nb Micro-Alloyed Steels

        Xin Li,Qiming Jiang,Xiaoguang Zhou,Guangming Cao,Guodong Wang,Zhenyu Liu 대한금속·재료학회 2024 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.30 No.1

Static softening behaviors that mainly includes recovery and recrystallization play the important role in controlling themicrostructure and mechanical properties of micro-alloyed steels during hot rolling, which is the essence for optimizing thecontrolled rolling processes. Chemical compositions and deformation conditions are the key factors to the static softeningbehaviors, but their quantitative influences are not clear due to the complex interactions among softening, precipitation, andhot deformation. In the present work, an integrated machine learning (ML) system for the static softening behaviors underdifferent chemical compositions and deformation conditions is established, based on ML modeling of strain-induced precipitationand the data collected from the published literatures. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was usedto determine the recovery and recrystallization model parameters for different niobium (Nb) micro-alloyed steels. Supportvector machine (SVM) was used to establish the relationships between these parameters and compositions and processingparameters. By using the integrated ML system, the effects of compositions and deformation conditions on the static softeningcritical temperature (SSCT), static softening behavior were predicted. The predictions were compared with the measuredvalues, indicating that the ML system can accurately predict static softening behaviors for different steel grades under differentprocessing conditions, which lays a foundation for the accurate design of controlled rolling processes.

      • Classification method for failure modes of RC columns based on key characteristic parameters

        Bo Yu,Zecheng Yu,Qiming Li,Bing Li 국제구조공학회 2022 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.84 No.1

An efficient and accurate classification method for failure modes of reinforced concrete (RC) columns was proposed based on key characteristic parameters. The weight coefficients of seven characteristic parameters for failure modes of RC columns were determined first based on the support vector machine-recursive feature elimination. Then key characteristic parameters for classifying flexure, flexure-shear and shear failure modes of RC columns were selected respectively. Subsequently, a support vector machine with key characteristic parameters (SVM-K) was proposed to classify three types of failure modes of RC columns. The optimal parameters of SVM-K were determined by using the ten-fold cross-validation and the grid-search algorithm based on 270 sets of available experimental data. Results indicate that the proposed SVM-K has high overall accuracy, recall and precision (e.g., accuracy>95%, recall>90%, precision>90%), which means that the proposed SVMK has superior performance for classification of failure modes of RC columns. Based on the selected key characteristic parameters for different types of failure modes of RC columns, the accuracy of SVM-K is improved and the decision function of SVM-K is simplified by reducing the dimensions and number of support vectors.

Precipitation Behavior in Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Alloy After Direct Quenching

        Shengdan Liu,Chengbo Li,Yunlai Deng,Xinming Zhang,Qiming Zhong 대한금속·재료학회 2014 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.20 No.2

The precipitation behavior in an Al-6.8Zn-1.9Mg-1.0Cu-0.12Zr alloy after direct quenching from solutionheat treatment temperature of 470 °C to 205-355 °C was investigated by means of hardness tests, electricalconductivity tests, and transmission electron microscopy. At temperatures below 265 °C, the hardnessincreased gradually to a peak value and then decreased rapidly with time. At 265 °C, the hardness wasalmost unchanged within the initial 2000 s and then decreased gradually. At higher temperatures, the hardnessdecreased slowly with time. The electrical conductivity started to increase after a certain period oftime and then tended to maintain a constant value at all temperatures. Microstructure examination indicatedheterogeneous precipitation of the η phase at grain boundaries and inside grains during holding at205 °C and 325 °C. Based on the electrical conductivity data, the precipitation kinetics could be describedquite well by the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Komolgorov relationship with a n value varying between 0.78 and1.33. The activation energy was estimated to be about 44.9 kJ/mol, which is close to that expected for a dislocationdiffusion mechanism. Time-temperature-transformation diagrams were constructed and the nosetemperature ranged from 295 °C to 325 °C.

RPTOR methylation in the peripheral blood and breast cancer in the Chinese population

        Yin Yifei,Lei Shuifang,Li Lixi,Yang Xiaoqin,Yin Qiming,Xu Tian,Zhou Wenjie,Li Hong,Gu Wanjian,Ma Fei,Yang Rongxi,Zhang Zhengdong 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.4

Background: Altered regulatory-associated protein of mTOR, complex 1 (RPTOR) methylation levels in peripheral blood was originally discovered as breast cancer (BC)-associated risk factor in Caucasians. Objective: To explore the relationship between RPTOR methylation and BC in the Chinese population, we conducted two independent case-control studies. Methods: Peripheral blood samples were collected from a total of 333 sporadic BC cases and 378 healthy female controls for the DNA extraction and bisulfite-specific PCR amplification. Mass spectrometry was applied to quantitatively measure the levels of methylation. The logistic regression, Spearman's rank correlation, and Non-parametric tests were used for the statistical analyses. Results: In our study, we found an association between BC and RPTOR_CpG_4 hypomethylation in the general population (per-10% of methylation, OR 1.29, P = 0.012), and a weak association between BC and RPTOR_CpG_8 hypomethylation in the women with older age (per-10% of methylation, OR 2.34, P = 0.006). We also identified age as a confounder for the change of RPTOR methylation patterns, especially at RPTOR_CpG_4, which represented differential methylation comparing age groups especially in the BC cases (age < 50 years vs age ≥ 50 years by Mann-Whitney U test, P < 0.0001 for BC cases and P = 0.079 for controls). Conclusion: Our study validated the association between hypomethylation of RPTOR and BC risk in the Chinese population also with weak effect and mostly for postmenopausal women. In addition, our findings provided novel insight for the regulation of DNA methylation upon aging or the change of hormone levels.

Effects of yeast hydrolysate supplementation on intestinal morphology, barrier, and anti-inflammatory functions of broilers

        Wang Ting,Cheng Kang,Li QiMing,Wang Tian 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.6

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary yeast hydrolysate (YH) supplementation on intestinal morphology, barrier, and anti-inflammatory functions of broilers. Methods: A total of 320 one day old male broilers were randomly allocated into four groups with eight replicates of ten broilers each. The broilers were supplemented with a basal diet (the control group) or basal diets adding 50, 100, 150 mg/kg YH, respectively. This trial lasted for 42 days. The orthogonal polynomial contrasts were used to determine the linear and quadratic effects of increasing levels of YH. Results: In our previous research, supplementing YH improved growth performance by enhancing body weight gain but decreased feed-to-gain ratio. In this study, compared with the control group, dietary YH addition linearly and quadratically decreased serum diamine oxidase activity (p<0.05). Additionally, supplementing YH linearly and/or quadratically decreased jejunal crypt depth (CD), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) concentration as well as mucin 2, interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-1β, TNF-α, nuclear factor kappa B, and myeloid differentiation factor 88 gene expression levels (p<0.05). Whereas the jejunal villus height (VH), VH/CD, IL-10 concentration as well as zonula occludens-1 and IL-10 gene expression levels were linearly and/or quadratically increased by YH supplementation (p<0.05). Conclusion: Dietary YH supplementation improved intestinal morphology, barrier and anti-inflammatory functions while decreased intestinal permeability of broilers, which might be related with altering pertinent genes expression. This study provides evidence of YH as a promising feed additive for broilers. Transgenic Rice Plants Overexpressing BBTI4 Confer Partial but Broad-spectrum Bacterial Blight Resistance

        Zhiqian Pang,Zhuangzhi Zhou,Dedong Yin,Qiming Lv,Lixiang Wang,Xiao Xu,Jing Wang,Xiaobing Li,Xianfeng Zhao,Guanghuai Jiang,Jinping Lan,Lihuang Zhu,Songnian Hu,Guozhen Liu 한국식물학회 2013 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.56 No.6

Plant Bowman-Birk type bran trypsin inhibitors(BBTI) belong to a family of serine protease inhibitors thatinhibit trypsin activity and play roles in plant developmentand defense responses to both biotic and abiotic stresses. Inthis study, transgenic rice plants overexpressing BBTI4 (OXBBTI4)were generated. Reverse-transcription polymerasechain reaction and western blot (WB) analysis demonstratedthat the BBTI4 mRNA and protein levels were significantlyincreased in OX-BBTI4. Notably, two BBTI4 protein formswith different molecular weight (18 kD and 28 kD) wererevealed by WB analysis. In non-transgenic plants, BBTI4-28kD and BBTI4-18kD were mainly expressed in roots andleaves, respectively, while in transgenic OX-BBTI4 plants, both protein forms were expressed constitutively. Subcellularanalysis revealed that BBTI4 is localized in the cytosol. Moreover, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) inoculationexperiments demonstrated that transgenic OX-BBTI4 riceplants conferred partial but broad-spectrum Xoo resistance. InOX-BBTI4 transgenic rice plants, the expression of OsPR3 andOsPR10a proteins was induced and gradually increased afterXoo infection, while the expression of OsPR1a, OsPR1b andOsPR-pha remained unchanged. Taken together, these resultssuggest that BBTI4 may play a role in rice resistance to Xoo,and OsPR3 and OsPR10a may be involved in the OX-BBTI4-dependent partial Xoo resistance response.
