Theoretical analysis on vibration characteristic of a flexible tube under the interaction of seismic load and hydrodynamic force

Lai, Jiang,He, Chao,Sun, Lei,Li, Pengzhou Korean Nuclear Society 2020 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.52 No.3

The reliability of the spent fuel pool instrument is very important for the security of nuclear power plant, especially during the earthquake. The effect of the fluid force on the vibration characteristics of the flexible tube of the spent fuel pool instrument needs comprehensive analysis. In this paper, based on the potential flow theory, the hydrodynamic pressures acting on the flexible tube were obtained. A mathematical model of a flexible tube was constructed to obtain the dynamic response considering the effects of seismic load and fluid force, and a computer code was written. Based on the mathematical model and computer code, the maximum stresses of the flexible tube in both safe shutdown earthquake and operating basis earthquake events on the spent fuel pool with three typical water levels were calculated, respectively. The results show that the fluid force has an obvious effect on the stress and strain of the flexible tube in both safe shutdown earthquake and operating basis earthquake events.

A Cascaded D-STATCOM Integrated with a Distribution Transformer for Medium-voltage Reactive Power Compensation

Lei, Ertao,Yin, Xianggen,Chen, Yu,Lai, Jinmu The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2017 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.17 No.2

This paper presents a novel integrated structure for a cascaded distribution static compensator (D-STATCOM) and distribution transformer for medium-voltage reactive power compensation. The cascaded multilevel converter is connected to a system via a group of special designed taps on the primary windings of the Dyn11 connection distribution transformer. The three-phase winding taps are symmetrically arranged and the connection point voltage can be decreased to half of the line-to-line voltage at most. Thus, the voltage stress for the D-STATCOM is reduced and a compromise between the voltage rating and the current rating can be achieved. The spare capacity of the distribution transformer can also be fully used. The working mechanism is explained in detail and a modified control strategy is proposed for reactive power compensation. Finally, both simulation and scaled-down prototype experimental results are provided to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed connection structure and control strategy.

Sex Comb on Midleg Like-2 Accelerates Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cell Proliferation and Metastasis by Activating Wnt/β-Catenin/EMT Signaling

        Lei Du,Lina Wang,Hong Yang,Jianping Duan,Jianming Lai,Wei Wu,Shaohua Fan,Xiaoli Zhi 연세대학교의과대학 2021 Yonsei medical journal Vol.62 No.12

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of sex comb on midleg like-2 (SCML2) on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and potentially related mechanisms. Materials and Methods: SCML2 expression in tumor tissues and cells was analyzed using the TCGA database and/or qRT-PCR. The proliferation of HCC cells was detected by CCK-8, colony formation, and EdU assays. The migration and invasion of HCC cells were detected by transwell and wound healing assays. Apoptosis of HCC cells was determined by flow cytometry. Additionally, qRT-PCR and Western blot were used to detect the expression of SCML2 and Wnt/β-catenin/epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) signaling. A xenograft model in mice was established to verify the in vitro findings. Results: We found that SCML2 was highly expressed in HCC tissues and cells and that high expression of SCML2 was correlated with poor prognosis in HCC patients. SCML2 overexpression promoted proliferation, invasion, and migration and repressed apoptosis of HCC cells. The reverse results were obtained in SCML2-silenced cells. Further, we found that SCML2 activated the Wnt/β-catenin/EMT pathway. SCML2 silencing reduced the protein levels of Wnt3a, β-catenin, N-cadherin, Vimentin, and Snail and enhanced E-cadherin protein expression both in vivo and in vitro. Conclusion: SCML2 silencing inhibits the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cells by regulating the Wnt/β-catenin/EMT pathway.

Two-Level Tries: A General Acceleration Structure for Parallel Routing Table Accesses

Lai Mingche,Gao Lei 한국통신학회 2011 Journal of communications and networks Vol.13 No.4

The stringent performance requirement for the high ef-ficiency of routing protocols on the Internet can be satisfied by ex-ploiting the threaded border gateway protocol (TBGP) on multi-cores, but the state-of-the-art TBGP performance is restricted by a mass of contentions when racing to access the routing table. To this end, the highly-efficient parallel access approach appears to be a promising solution to achieve ultra-high route processing speed. This study proposes a general routing table structure con-sisting of two-level tries for fast parallel access, and it presents a heuristic-based divide-and-recombine algorithm to solve a mass of contentions, thereby accelerating the parallel route updates of multi-threading and boosting the TBGP performance. As a pro-jected TBGP, this study also modifies the table operations such as insert and lookup, and validates their correctness according to the behaviors of the traditional routing table. Our evaluations on a dual quad-core Xeon server show that the parallel access con-tentions decrease sharply by 92.5% versus the traditional routing table, and themaximal update time of a thread is reduced by 56.8%on average with little overhead. The convergence time of update messages are improved by 49.7%.

Mechanism analysis on fluidelastic instability of tube bundles in considering of cross-flow effects

        Jiang Lai,Lei Sun,Lixia Gao,Pengzhou Li 한국원자력학회 2019 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.51 No.1

Fluidelastic instability is a key issue in steam generator tube bundles subjected in cross-flow. With a lowflow velocity, a large amplitude vibration of the tube observed by many researchers. However, themechanism of this vibration is seldom analyzed. In this paper, the mechanism of cross-flow effects onfluidelastic instability of tube bundles was investigated. Analysis reveals that when the system reachesthe critical state, there would be two forms, with two critical velocities, and thus two expressions for thecritical velocities were obtained. Fluidelastic instability experiment and numerical analysis were conductedto obtain the critical velocity. And, if system damping is small, with increases of the flow velocity, the stability behavior of tube array changes. At a certain flow velocity, the stability of tube array reachesthe first critical state, a dynamic bifurcation occurs. The tube array returns to a stable state with continuesto increase the flow velocity. At another certain flow velocity, the stability of tube array reachesthe second critical state, another dynamic bifurcation occurs. However, if system damping is big, there isonly one critical state with increases the flow velocity. Compared the results of experiments to numericalanalysis, it shows a good agreement.

Flow-induced instability and nonlinear dynamics of a tube array considering the effect of a clearance gap

        Jiang Lai,Lei Sun,Pengzhou Li 한국원자력학회 2019 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.51 No.6

Fluidelastic instability and nonlinear dynamics of tube bundles is a key issue in a steam generator. Especially, once the post-instability motion of the tube becomes larger than the clearance gap to othertubes, effective contact or impact between the tubes under consideration and the other tube inevitable. There is seldom theoretical analysis to the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of a tube array in two-phaseflow. In this paper, experimental and numerical studies were utilized to obtain the critical velocity of theflow-induced instability of a rotated triangular tube array. The calculation results agreed well with theexperimental data. To explore the post-instability dynamics of the tube array system, a Runge-Kuttascheme was used to solve the nonlinear governing equations of tube motion. The numerical resultsindicated that, when the flow pitch velocity is larger than the critical velocity, the tube array system isundergoing a limit cycle motion, and the dynamic characteristics of the tube array are almost similar fordifferent void fractions

      • Study on Volatility of Palm Oil Biodiesel/-10 Petrodiesel by Thermogravimetric Analysis Technique

        Yongbin Lai,Peng Wang,Xiu Chen,Yinnan Yuan,Junfen Rong,Guang Wu,Yijun Zhou,Lei Zhong,Yuqi Zhang 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.9 No.2

Palm methyl ester (PME) was prepared from palm oil through transesterification using NaOH as catalyst. Chemical composition of the PME and -10 petrodiesel (-10PD) was determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS). The PME and -10PD were characterized for their fuel properties including density, kinematic viscosity, and flash point, cold filter plugging point, sulfur content, copper strip corrosion and oxidative stability. Volatility was measured by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Volatile index was proposed to describe PME/-10PD volatility. A good correlation model was put forward for calculating the PME/-10PD volatility by PME blending ratio. The study showed that PME was mainly composed of long chain fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs): C14:0-C24:0, C16:1-C22:1, C18:2 and C18:3. -10PD was mainly composed of long chain alkanes: C8-C26. The fuel properties of PME were within the limits prescribed in the GB/T 20828-2007 standards for biodiesel. With respect to -10PD, volatilization of PME was stronger and quicker, but volatilization onset at higher temperature. The volatilization onset temperatures of PME and -10PD were 448.9 and 361.7 K respectively; and the volatile indexes were 1.76E-04 and 3.64E-05 respectively. The PME/-10PD volatility had relation to PME blending ratio. The volatility of B0-B20 was very close to the -10PD. The volatility of B20-B100 was better with increasing the PME blending ratio.
