New strategies for overcoming the chemical degradation of anion-exchange membranes (AEM) containing perfluoroquaternary ammonium (PFQA) ionomer using inorganic free radical scavengers are described. To be more specific, the metaloxide– perfluorinated sulfonic acid ionomer (MO–PFSA) composite nanoparticles were synthesized and investigated their nano-redispersibility after redispersing in the PFQA solution. The effect of the PFSA equivalent weight (EW) and metal precursor selection, and nano-redispersibility of MOx composite nanoparticles in the PFQA solution were also investigated. It was reported that MOx composite nanoparticles prepared using cerium nitrate precursor showed the best radical scavenging performance in the presence of EW800 PFSA solution compared to other MO–PFSA composite nanoparticles.

Polymer/metal-oxide hybrid dielectric materials are considered to be a key element for use in OFETs owing to the unique properties of organic dielectrics with those of the inorganic counterparts. Because, the high-k filler lends a high capacitance, and the flexible matric endows the dielectric with good dispersability and film-forming feasibility. The most widely used metal oxides as high-h filler as TiO<sub>2</sub>, ZrO<sub>2</sub> which have high dielectric constant (k) and large band gap. However, because of their metal alkoxide’s high reactivity, it is extremely tough to prepare colloidally stable nanoparticles via sol-gel process. In this study, we presented a novel sol-gel-based process for preparation of colloidally stable TiO<sub>2</sub>, ZrO<sub>2</sub> polymer hybrid nanoparticles using amphiphilic crosslinked polymers.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this work, we have investigated the magnetic properties and the magnetocaloric effect of La<SUB>0.7−x</SUB>Na<SUB>x</SUB>Ca<SUB>0.3</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB> compounds, which were prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction technique. The Rietveld refinement results suggested that the samples are single phase belonging to an orthorhombic structure (space group <I>Pnma</I>). Analyzing temperature dependence of magnetization <I>M</I>(<I>T</I>) revealed that the Curie temperature (<I>T</I> <SUB>C</SUB>) increases with increasing Na content (<I>x</I>). Their <I>T</I> <SUB>C</SUB> value is found to be 260–298K for <I>x</I>=0.0–0.1, respectively. Base on <I>M</I>(<I>T</I>) data measured at different applied magnetic fields (<I>H</I>), temperature dependence of magnetic entropy change Δ<I>S</I> <SUB>m</SUB>(<I>T</I>) data for all the samples was calculated by using a phenomenological model. In the vicinity of <I>T</I> <SUB>C,</SUB> -Δ<I>S</I> <SUB>m</SUB>(<I>T</I>) curve reaches a maximum value (denoted as |Δ<I>S</I> <SUB>max</SUB>|), which gradually increases with increasing <I>H</I>. Under 12kOe, the value of |Δ<I>S</I> <SUB>max</SUB>| is in a range of 1.47–5.19J/kgK corresponding to the relative cooling power RCP=57.12–75.88J/kg. Applied the universal master curve method for the magnetic entropy change, we concluded that Na-doped in La<SUB>0.7−x</SUB>Na<SUB>x</SUB>Ca<SUB>0.3</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB> compounds leads to modification the nature of the magnetic phase transition from the first- to the second-order.</P>
