Recently, hybrid SPM-cache (HSC) architectures that combine caches and scratch-pad memories (SPMs) have been increasingly used in commercial processors and research prototypes. However, most SPM allocation algorithms do not make use of the cache in parallel, so they cannot harness the full potential of the HSC architecture. In this paper, we explore six SPM allocation algorithms, including four heuristic-based algorithms and two optimal algorithms based on model checking. Our experimental results show that the greedy stack distance based allocation for energy (GSDA-E) can also reduce the energy by as much or by nearly as much as the optimal results attained by the optimal stack distance based allocation for energy (OSDA-E), while also achieving performance close to those of the OSDA and GSDA.

Flow and heat transfer characteristics of alkali metal liquid in a pipe with inscribed regular polygon porous media are numerically investigated under local thermodynamic equilibrium condition. The effects of filling ways including inscribed regular polygon filling way and segmented inscribed square filling way under different Darcy number (10 -6 ≤Da≤10) are analyzed. The results show that, the velocity near the wall is violently changed by inserting partially filled porous media due to the high resistance of porous media. For inscribed regular polygon filling way, the PEC value of inscribed square is the maximum, which makes it optimal for heat transfer enhancement. For segmented inscribed square filling way, the average Nusselt number increases as the filled ratio increases while decreases as the unit length increases. Owning to the dominant role of the entrance effect, the smaller the unit length is, the larger the PEC is. The PEC of 5:5 segmented filling way is found superior to other filling ways, possibly because the heat transfer enhancement and flow resistance control reach an excellent balance for that case.

Gasket plays an important role on sealing of the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC)stack. Stack requires gaskets in each cell to keep the hydrogen and air/oxygen within their respective regions. The failure of the gasket creates the problems of fuel leakage, mixing, damage on parts and can be a direct reason for the degrading the efficiency of fuel cell. The purpose of this paper researches on how mechanical properties of EPDM gasket in PEMFC are changed after long-term operations. The EPDM (ethylenepropylene-diene monomer) gaskets are obtained from the stack after long-term operations. DMA (dynamic mechanical analysis) is conducted to access the change of mechanical properties of the EPDM gasket. SEM/EDS (scanning electron microscope/energy dispersive spectroscopy) was used to show the surface topography and chemical characterization on the sample surface.
Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes: A New Method for Reversing Skin Aging

Senescence is an inevitable natural life process that involves structural and functional degeneration of tissues and organs. Recently, the process of skin aging has attracted much attention. Determining a means to delay or even reverse skin aging has become a research hotspot in medical cosmetology and anti-aging. Dysfunction in the epidermis and fibroblasts and changes in the composition and content of the extracellular matrix are common pathophysiological manifestations of skin aging. Reactive oxygen species and matrix metalloproteinases play essential roles in this process. Stem cells are pluripotent cells that possess self-replication abilities and can differentiate into multiple functional cells under certain conditions. These cells also possess a strong ability to facilitate tissue repair and regeneration. Stem cell transplantation has the potential for application in anti-aging therapy. Increasing studies have demonstrated that stem cells perform functions through paracrine processes, particularly those involving exosomes. Exosomes are nano-vesicular substances secreted by stem cells that participate in cell-to-cell communication by transporting their contents into target cells. In this chapter, the biological characteristics of exosomes were reviewed, including their effects on extracellular matrix formation, epidermal cell function, fibroblast function and antioxidation. Exosomes derived from stem cells may provide a new means to reverse skin aging.
Comparing Separate and Statically-Partitioned Caches for Time-Predictable Multicore Processors

In this paper, we quantitatively compare two different time-predictable multicore cache architectures, separate and statically-partitioned caches, through extensive simulation. Current research trends primarily focus on partitioned-cache architectures in order to achieve time predictability for hard real-time multicore based systems, and our experiments reveal that separate caches actually lead to much better performance and energy efficiency when compared to statically-partitioned caches, and both of them are adequate for timing analysis for real-time multicore applications.
The Storage Grain and Environment Modeling Based on TS-PLS

Food security is a strategic cornerstone of national security, and the food safety storage is a recognized problem. Accurate representation of grain storage environment is a fundamental premise for secure storage, which is very difficult because of the complex linkage relation between stored grain and grain storage environment. The characteristics between grain and environment, such as large time lag, two-way coupling, nonlinear, time-varying, make analysis and modeling face more difficulties and challenges. Based on this, combining PLS and TS fuzzy model, a modeling method of dynamic nonlinear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system is proposed in this paper, which effectively solves the problem of strong nonlinear and correlation, at the same time reduces the computational complexity of data modeling methods. The simulation results show that this modeling could effectively describe the relationship between storage grain and environment.
The Fuzzy Prediction Control Methods of Crop Growth Process

Today the huge demand for high-quality crops allowed the research on the improvement of crop quality and cultivation techniques to give increasing attention. Through effective variety selection and optimal control of the growth process, maintaining the long-term best growth environment is an important means to improve crop quality and yield. Due to the quality of the wheat crop ecological variability and complexity of the formation process, the effective forecasting and management under different conditions of wheat growth process becomes quite difficult. Aiming to the characteristics, such as nonlinear, time-varying, strong correlation, time-delay and more uncertainty, between the crop quality and various influencing factors, a modeling method of nonlinear dynamic multi-input multi-output system based on PLS and TS model is proposed. On this basis, a Generalized Predictive Controller (GPC) under implicit variable space is designed, which is provide a scientific basis for the realization of effective crop forecasting and control, to increase production, improve quality , regulating the growth cycle and increase economic efficiency purposes. The test results show that this method can effectively track the signal and meet the system demand.
