This paper presents virtual peripheral interface (VPI) in virtual computing environment based on Xen architecture. The concept of VPI is based on resource fragmentation and integration from resource perspectives. The VPI enables distributed resource elements to be integrated to make a functional virtual device. The VPI plays a role of connection point between computing resources and peripheral resources.
Communication Utility for Service Provisioning and Management in Personal Information Terminal

This paper describes a utility for intercommunication between a personal terminal and a service provider to support service provisioning and management via mobile network and wireless LAN (WLAN). The proposed mechanism has two major features such as automatic connection switching between mobile network and WLAN and initiation of control action through a SMS message.

Purpose : In supraglottic cancer, radiation therapy is used to preserve the laryngeal function but combined surgery and radiation therapy is required in advanced stage. The authors present the results of radiation therapy alone and combined surgery plus postoperative radiation therapy for supraglottic cancer. Methods and Materials : A retrospective analysis was done for 43 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the supraglottic larynx who were treated from Feburary 1982 to December 1991, in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Korea Universiry Hospital. Patient distribution according to the AJCC staging system was as foolows; Ⅰ, 3(7.0%); Ⅱ, 7(16.3%); Ⅲ, 17(39.5%); Ⅳ, 16(37.2%). Patients age ranged from 30 to 72 year (median 62). Follow up durations were from 21 to 137 months(median 27). Seventeen patients(39.5%) were treated by radiation therapy alone with radiation dose of 6840 7380 cGy and 26 patients(60.5%) were treated with surgery plus postoperative irradiation with doses of 5820-6660 cGy. Results : Overall five-year survival rate for all stage was 51.8%, with 100% for Stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ, 47.3% for Stage Ⅲ and 29.2% for Stage Ⅳ. The difference of the survival rate by stage was statistically significant(p=0.0152). Five-year survival rate were 100% for locally confined tumor in the supraglottic larynx, 37.5% for transglottic extension, 26.7% for hypopharynx extension, and only two of 5 patients with both transglottic and hypopharynx extension were alive(p=0.0033), Five-year survival rate by neck node status were as follows; 55.0% for NO. 64.3$ for N1, 50.0% for N2, and all 2 of N3 were died of disease. Overall survival rate for radiation therapy alone group was 42.8% and it was 56.7% for surgery plus postoperative radiation therapy group with no statistically significant difference(p=0.5215). In Stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ, all patients survived. In Stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ, 5-year survival rate for radiation therapy alone group was 28.5% and 43.4% for surgery plus postoperative irradiation group(p=0.5103). Local control rate was 58.8%(10/17) for radiation therapy alone group and 73.1%(19/26) for surgery plus postoperative irradiation group. Three patients form surgery plus postoperative radiation therapy group developed distant metastasis in lungs. Conclusion : Treatment results of radiation therapy alone was excellent in early stage supraglottic cancer. In advanced stage even the difference was statistically not significant the result of postoperative radiation therapy group was superior compared with radiation therapy alone group. Since 1992, concomitant chemoradiotherapy with hyperfractionated radiotherapy is being used to improve the result of the treatment and preserve the laryngeal function in advanced stage supraglottic cancer.
S-424 Association between critical shear stress and vascular complications in type 2 diabetes

The critical shear stress (CSS) is defined as a minimum shear-stress required to disperse RBC aggregates. Increased RBC aggregation is associated with the pathogenesis of vascular disease. The objective of this study was to clarify the association CSS and diabetic microangiopathy. We conducted a cross-sectional study with 234 patients with T2DM who visited Yeungnam university hospital. Patients with end stage renal disease, malignancy and who were diagnosed diabetic ketoacidosis were excluded. CSS was measured with a Rheoscan-D (Rheo-Meditech, Seoul, Korea), a microfluidic hemorheometer. We divided the CSS into quartile (Q1,Q2,Q3, and Q4 from lowest to highest CSS). 209 patients (mean age 59.27±12.64 years, M:F=122:87) were finally included. Patients with microvascular complications had lower CSS compared with patients without any complications (CSS 287 vs. 345, p=0.002). Of them, patients with retinopathy had lower CSS compared with patients without retinopathy (CSS 281 vs. 385, p=0.00), whereas patients with nephropathy and neuropathy had no significant difference in CSS. After adjustment for age, sex, HbA1C, duration of diabetes, hemoglobin, hypertension, smoking, alcohol and lipids, higher CSS remained significantly associated with the prevalence of diabetic nephropathy (Odds ratio for Q1 compared with Q4, 12.329; 95% confidence interval, 1.882-80.775). In patients with T2DM, there were significant relationship between CSS and diabeticnephropathy. These results suggest that CSS could be a novel marker for predicting diabetic nephropathy.
헬스케어 서비스에서 동적인 데이터 전달을 위한 데이터 결합기 설계 및 구현

본 논문은 서로 다른 벤더의 응용 프로그램과 생체 신호 측정 장치가 동적으로 데이터 전달을 할 수 있는 생산자(Producer)/소비자(Consumer) 패턴 기반의 데이터 결합기 구조를 제안한 것으로 휴대용 정보 단말에서 컴포넌트 기반의 프로그래밍이 가능하고 서비스 지향적인 동작 메커니즘을 제공하는 OSGi 플랫폼의 번들로서 구현된다. 데이터 결합기는 정적으로 데이터 생산자와 소비자를 연결하는 OSGi WireAdmin 서비스의 단점을 보완한 것으로, 데이터를 사용하는 주체인 응용 프로그램의 요구 사항을 응용 프로그램 설명자(Application Descriptor)로 형식화하고 데이터를 생산하는 주체인 생체 신호 측정 장치의 기능을 장치 설명자(Device Descriptor)로 형식화하여 런타임에 데이터 생산자-소비자 쌍을 만들어 동적으로 데이터가 연결되는 기능을 제공한다. 따라서 센서 기반 응용을 개발할 때 데이터 생산자와 데이터 소비자를 사이에서 빈번하게 일어나는 연결 관리를 동적으로 해주는 기능 구현에 활용 가능하다. 본 논문의 목적은 생체 신호 측정 장치와 같은 데이터 생산자와 헬스케어 응용 프로그램과 같은 데이터 소비자를 분리시켜 헬스케어 서비스 개발의 편이성을 제공하기 위한 것이다. This paper suggests producer/consumer-based Data Binder enabling applications and biomedical devices developed by mutually different vendors to transfer data dynamically. Data Binder is implemented as a bundle of OSGi platform providing component-based programming model and service-oriented operation architecture. Data Binder complements the disadvantage of OSGi WireAdmin service enabling static data delivery between a producer and a consumer of data. Data Binder normalizes an application requirement as an application descriptor and a device capability as a device descriptor so that it enables dynamic data delivery by making data producer/consumer pair in runtime. Therefore, Data Binder can be used as a connection management of a data link between a data producer and a data consumer in sensor-based application development. The object of this paper is to provide the facility of the healthcare service development by separating a data producer such as a biomedical device from a data consumer such as a healthcare application.
계층적 시간-기억 모델 기반 기계학습을 위한 시계열 데이터 인코더

본 연구는 계층적 시간-기억 (HTM, Hierarchical Temporal Memory) 모델 기반 기계학습에서 데이터 입력 측 필수 요구사항인 데이터 인코더에 관한 것이다. 특히 입력 데이터가 시계열 정보를 나타내는 데이터일 경우 HTM의 기계학습 알고리즘 입력으로 사용 가능한 데이터 형식으로 변환하는 시계열 데이터 인코더를 제안하고 공개 데이터셋을 사용한 실험을 통해 데이터 인코더 요구사항 충족여부를 검증하였다.
