Objective This study examined the mediating role of internet addiction in the association between psychological resilience and depressive symptoms. Methods 837 Korean university students completed a survey with items of demographic information, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Internet Addiction Test (IAT), and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) in 2015. The complex associations among psychological resilience, internet addiction, and depressive symptoms were delineated using structural equation models. Results In the most parsimonious model, the total effect and indirect effect of resilience on depressive symptoms via internet addiction, were statistically significant. The goodness of fit of the measurement model was satisfactory with fit indices, normed fit index (NFI) of 0.990, non-normed fit index (NNFI) of 0.997, comparative fit index (CFI) of 0.998, root mean square error (RMSEA) of 0.018 (90%CI=0.001–0.034); and Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) of -21.049. Conclusion The association between psychological resilience and depressive symptoms was mediated by internet addiction in Korean university students. Enhancement of resilience programs could help prevent internet addiction and reduce the related depression risks.
INNER HYBRIDITY IN THE CITY: TOWARD A CRITIQUE OF MULTICULTURALISM

Muddled as an idea and flawed as a public policy, multiculturalism in Canada advocates conformity to a unitary culture in the public place and tolerance of diverse cultures in the private place. This tolerance of cultural heterogeneity in the sphere of the intimate is often upheld as a defining characteristic of Canadian society. Yet multiculturalism is not without criticisms. For one, multiculturalism is at odds with the desire of the children and grandchildren of the Chinese immigrants in Canada to adapt themselves to their host society, thus transforming themselves as well as the larger society. A multicultural policy that continues to hark back to the past turns a blind eye to the fierce generation and gender politics within the Chinese family. Neither does the multicultural policy square well with a more progressive social theory of self, identity and culture that is cognizant of the duality of the psychological make-up of human beings: that one looks backward and forward, committed to preserving roots of the past and exploring routes to the future. As such, the Canadian multicultural policy suffers in a two-fold way: empirical and theoretical. A possible way out is to pursue a Hegelian dialectics that sees culture as an aftermath of a collision of dissimilar cultures, a kind of forced entanglement of things different. We need a new urban social theory that sees integration, fusion, and hybridization ― not assimilation and not cultural pluralism ― as possibie and desirable outcomes. This is a completely different vision of society altogether, a kind of Utopia. We need a public policy that sees a distinct promise of the city in designing institutions and public spaces that promote hybridism in the mind, an inner deliberation, a mental turmoil ― which is not afraid of confronting modem life's many moments of contradictions, ironies and paradoxes.
Acculturation strategies, social support, and cross-cultural adaptation: a mediation analysis

Previous acculturation research has established the influences of acculturation strategies and social support on cross-cultural adaptation. The present study attempted to elaborate these direct associations by proposing that social support and the use of the integration and marginalization strategies might affect psychological adaptation indirectly, via their influences on sociocultural adaptation. Two hundred and twelve Mainland Chinese students studying at a university in Hong Kong completed measures of psychological and sociocultural adaptation, the integration and marginalization strategies, and social support. Analyses using structural equation modeling (SEM) showed that sociocultural adaptation significantly mediated the effects of integration, marginalization, and social support on psychological adaptation. The direct impacts of social support and the two acculturation strategies on psychological adaptation were not significant. A multigroup SEM analysis revealed no gender differences in the full mediation model. Implications of the findings are discussed.

This study explores how blockchain technology can transform education with a special focus on the social inclusion of students with limited access to educational resources and those who are typically designated as unreachable. We conduct a systematic content analysis of the existing literature on blockchain to identify factors that influence its adoption and use in education. The findings reveal seven important themes at the macro-level, namely, (1) future of education, (2) technology in use, (3) trust and change, (4) educational impact, (5) technological challenges, (6) teaching style, and (7) privacy and security. At the micro-level, we identify three thematic clusters, namely, (1) individual, (2) institution, and (3) instrument. These themes structure the further exploration of how blockchain can impact education management and development to improve educational quality, accessibility, social inclusion, and equality.
Integral operators on Ces\`{a}ro function spaces

This paper studies the boundedness of integral operators on the Ces\`{a}ro function spaces. As applications of the main result, we obtain the Hilbert inequalities, the boundedness of the Erd\'{e}lyi-Kober fractional integrals and the Mellin fractional integrals on the Ces\`{a}ro function spaces.
