There are various defects caused by trauma or resection of maignant tumor in the orofacial region, which can be reconstructed with various regional and pararegional flaps. Among these defects, it is very difficult to reconstruct palatal and midfacial defects after maxillectomy and patients have problems in speaking and swallowing of food. Therefore it is very important for surgeons to reconstruct these defects functionally and esthetically and to return the patients to the normal social activity. These defects are usually obturated with prosthodontic appliances to assist the phonation and swallowing. But nowadays surgical reconstruction by various flaps was considered and performed for better rehabilitation. For this purpose the forehead flap, the nasolabial flap, the tongue flap, the sternocleidomastoideous flap, the temporal flap, the latissimus dorsi flap, the scapular flap etc. are used. We reconstructed small-sized plalatal defects with tongue flap, medium-sized palatal and maxillary defects after maxillectomy with temporal myofascial flap and large midfacial defects including eyeball exenteration with latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flaps. Here we are to report 5 cases of these flaps used for the reconstruction of palatal and midfacial defects and consider the versatility, reliability and limitation in use of these flaps.

This study is to research the student's consciousness for architectural design education in terms of educational innovation. This paper is the second case, Department of Architecture, Taejon University, that follows the previous case of Hosei University, Japan. This research reveals several points of view to promote student's ability through the architectural design courses. The comparison between the two schools is also done in lower level because two schools have different educational program each and all.

This is a study on the formal characters of the gate, fence, court focused on the urban detached houses comparing with traditional houses. The elements-gate, fence, court-affect the space of houses. On the planner's point of view, domestic space should be regarded as a field of human activities. The domestic space is divided into the external and the internal space by exterior wall, the external space is defined by a fence. This study is performed by surveying the type, size, function, height of the elements and comparing them with the traditional elements. The results of this survey are as follows. 1) The gate has a meaning of threshold and also has a symbol of separating. 2) The usual meaning of the fence is to defend from stranger and to enclose space and so on. 3) The court is the internal space and has physical as well as psychological effects.

It is important to survey student's consciousness for the architectural design education in terms of innovation of the education. This study deals with one case of the Department of Architecture, Hosei University, Japan. The results of this study are summarized as below. The education before clloege should be promote student's ability to make decision by himself(or herself). It is necessary to prepare available opportunities to reduce the gab between student's desires and present situation. In the architectural design education, one of the most important things is to let student know the objectives of the each project and impact of the final results as well. Student seems to feel the lackage of time to talk about his(or her) own works with teachers. It is still important to recognize goals of the educational programs and to keep intellectual skills about it.

This study is to recognize the importance of the environment-behavior research and to improving the environment with its application in architecture. Environment behavior research is the study of the mutual relations between people and the physical environment and applications to improving the quality of life through environmental policy, planning, design and education. In architecture there are a number of areas of environment-behavior research, including the development of theory about the relation of architecture to human behavior, substantive research on place, human and human group, and social and behavior issues, and process on methods and applications. This study is concentrated on the place that is building settings for human purposes, user(or user groups) who use and is affected by the environment, and social and behavioral phenomena with subjective variable like images, meanings, symbolism and so on.

This study is to develop the architectural design process including the environment-behavior studies and to make effective design alternatives. This study is briefly surveyed some of the environment-behavior considerations that architects take into account in building design and urban design. Environment-behavior research approaches, research designs and research methods are reviewed and finally the relationships between the design process and the environment-behavior researches and the place of environment-behavior information in the design process are studied.

Dual-action agents are unique chemical entities comprised of two different types of antibacterial compounds covalently linked together in a single molecule in such a way that both components are able exert their bactericidal properties. Crosslinked sulfadiazine-sulfacetamide such as antibiotics synthesized by crosslingking reaction such as glutaraldehyde. These structures of the compounds were conformed by I.R, N.M.R. 4 strains of Gram(+) and Gram(-) revealed effective susceptibility to synthetic crosslinked sulfadiazine-sulfacetamide.
중국 서남부지역의 고상식 주거와 전통마을 구성에 관한 연구

The raised wooden cottage is a peculiar dwelling house type of the minorities(Miao and Dong nationalities) in the southwestern China. The main living level is raised from the earth in order to be suitable for their subtropical climate. Each Dong's folk village has Gulou(drum tower), Gulouping(square) and Fengyuqiao(roofed bridge) as the village center, while Miao's has only Tongguping(stone paved square). The location of villages is at the hilly side of the mountains and the dwelling units are clustered together for some purposes. The village itself reveals good harmony with the natural environment as a whole.
