The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationships among organizational environment, structure and performance in Korean sport. A convenience sample was made up of 332 practitioners in sport organizations located in South Korea. To achieve the study purpose, the data were analyzed in SPSS version 20.0 using a linear multiple regression method. The significance level was set as .05. Before carrying out the inferential analyses, validity and reliability evidence were obtained using exploratory factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha. Following findings were derived from the study First, among the subcategories of organizational environment, complexity (ß=.194, p<.001) statistically significantly influenced organizational structure. Second, complexity (ß=.259, p<.001) and hostility (ß=-.167, p<.01) statistically significantly influenced financial performance. Third, complexity (ß=.145, p<.01), dynamism (ß=.114, p<.05) and hostility (ß=-.134, p<.05) statistically significantly influenced job satisfaction. Fourth, among the subcategories of organizational structure, formalization (ß=.219, p<.001) and complexity (ß=.182, p<.01) statistically significantly influenced financial performance. Lastly, complexity (ß=.309, p<.001) statistically significantly influenced job satisfaction. In conclusion, managerial recommendations were offered to help understand organizational environments and establish effective organizational structure for better increasing financial performance and job satisfaction in sport organizations.
Potential Estrogenic and Antiandrogenic Effects of Permethrin in Rats

<P>Many environmental chemicals including pesticides have been reported to possess hormonal activities, and thus are classified as endocrine disruptors. Permethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, is used worldwide, which provides potential environmental exposure. However, relatively few studies have reported on hormonal activities, particularly estrogenic and androgenic activities of permethrin, and the results of these studies are in some respects contradictory. Therefore, this study investigated the potential estrogenic and androgenic activities of permethrin <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I>. We conducted an uterine Calbindin-D<SUB>9k</SUB> (CaBP-9k) gene expression assay and an uterotrophic assay for estrogenic activity, and a Hershberger assay for androgenic activity. The CaBP-9k gene, one of the intracellular calcium binding proteins, is estrogen-responsive in the uterus. The rat uterotrophic and Hershberger assays are generally used as <I>in vivo</I> short-term screening assays for detecting the estrogenic and androgenic activities of chemicals, although these assays are still being validated by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Northern blot analysis showed the induction of uterine CaBP-9k mRNA level in response to permethrin as well as co-administration of permethrin with E2. In the uterotrophic assay using 18-day-old female rats, subcutaneous treatments with permethrin (10 to 800 mg/kg) for three days increased relative uterine wet weights, and E2-induced uterine weights. These effects were statistically significant at 800 and 200 mg/kg, respectively. Moreover, permethrin-induced uterine weights were inhibited by the co-administration of ICI 182,780, an antiestrogen. In the Hershberger assay, the administration of permethrin orally to testosterone propionate-treated castrated male rats led to statistically significant reductions in androgen-dependent sex accessory tissue (ventral prostate, seminal vesicles, levator ani and bulbocavernosus muscles, Cowper's gland and glans penis) weights at all doses tested (10, 50 and 100 mg/kg). These results suggest that permethrin might have estrogen-like effects on female rats, but antiandrogen-like effects on males.</P>
컨텐츠 보호를 위한 DTCP용 타원곡선 암호(ECC) 연산기의 구현

본 논문에서는 디지털 컨텐츠 보호를 위해 표준으로 제정된 DTCP(Digital Transmission Contents Protection)용 타원 곡선 암호(ECC) 연산기의 구현에 대해 기술한다. 기존의 시스템이 유한체 GF(2/sup m/)를 사용하는 것과는 달리 DTCP에서는 소수체인 GF(p)에서 타원 곡선을 정의하여 인증 및 키 교환을 위해 ECC 암호 알고리즘을 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 ECC 알고리즘의 핵심 연산인 GF(p) 상에서의 스칼라 곱셈 연산기를 구현하였으며, 이 중 가장 많은 시간과 자원을 필요로 하는 나눗셈 연산을 제거하기 위하여 투영 좌표 변환 방법을 이용하였다. 또한, 효율적인 모듈러 곱셈 연산을 위하여 몽고메리 알고리즘을 이용하였으며, 곱셈기의 처리 속도를 빠르게 하기 위해 CSA(Carry Save Adder)와 4-레벨의 CLA(Carry Lookahead Adder)를 사용하였다. 본 논문에서 설계한 스칼라 곱셈기는 삼성전자 0.18 un CMOS 라이브러리를 이용하여 합성하였을 경우 64,559 게이트의 크기에 최대 98 MHz까지 동작이 가능하며 이 때 데이터 처리속도는 29.6 kbps로 160-blt 프레임당 5.4 ms 걸린다. 본 성능은 실시간 환경에서 DTCP를 위한 디지털 서명, 암호화 및 복호화, 그리고 키 교환 등에 효율적으로 적용될 수 있다. In this paper, we implemented an Elliptic Curve Cryptography(ECC) processor for Digital Transmission Contents Protection (DTCP), which is a standard for protecting various digital contents in the network. Unlikely to other applications, DTCP uses ECC algorithm which is defined over GF(p), where p is a 160-bit prime integer. The core arithmetic operation of ECC is a scalar multiplication, and it involves large amount of very long integer modular multiplications and additions. In this paper, the modular multiplier was designed using the well-known Montgomery algorithm which was implemented with CSA(Carry-save Adder) and 4-level CLA(Carry-lookahead Adder). Our new ECC processor has been synthesized using Samsung 0.18 m CMOS standard cell library, and the maximum operation frequency was estimated 98 MHz, with the size about 65,000 gates. The resulting performance was 29.6 kbps, that is, it took 5.4 msec to process a 160-bit data frame. We assure that this performance is enough to be used for digital signature, encryption and decryption, and key exchanges in real time environments.
Clinical, ophthalmological, and pathological findings of hypovitaminosis A in cattle

From February to September in 1996, a lot of blind cattle were reported in Dangjin Area of Chungnam Province. Blindness were observed in the 143 calves of the 1,496 calves from 79 farms. Blind cattle were found only in the farms where green pasture was not fed. After administration of vitamin A as the type of feed additives and parenteral injection, the blindness cases were not occurred in those farms. Both pupils were totally dilated with the absence of pupillary light reflex in all blind cattle. In the ophthalmoscopic examination, the fundus revealed multi focal linear white mottling which was more severe in nontapetal fundus than tapetal fundus. Serum vitamin A concentration was as low as 4.1 ,$\mu\textrm{g}$/dl in the calves of the affected farms. Narrowing of optic foramen, retinal degeneration and optic disc atrophy were shown in pathological findings.
Outbreak of botulism (Clostridium botulinum type C) in wild waterfowl: Seoul, Korea.

<P>Over a 6-day period beginning on 15 October 2008, 93 dead or sick wild waterfowl, including Mallards, Spotbills, and teal species, were found along the shore of a branch stream of the Hangang River, which flows through Seoul, Korea, and were submitted to the National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service (NVRQS) for diagnosis. Clinically, the affected birds showed flaccid paralysis of the legs and wings and paralysis of the neck. Grossly, no bird showed any lesions, but all had almost empty stomachs. Histopathologic findings included mild lymphocytic hepatitis and mild lymphocytic interstitial nephritis. Clostridium botulinum type C toxin was identified in sera collected from the birds using a mouse bioassay for botulinum toxins; however, no bacteria were isolated from any of the affected birds. In addition, a low-pathogenic avian influenza virus was isolated from two Spotbills, and pesticides such as diazinon and phorate, were detected in seven Mallards. The cause of this outbreak is not clear, but an increase in organic materials from sewage due to drought, increased temperatures, and an increased number of aquatic carcasses resulting from pesticide contamination may have increased the replication of C. botulinum, contributing to the release of botulinum toxins into the waterfowl food chain.</P>

A case of repeated bovine abortion caused by Neospora caninum is described. The 3-year-old Holstein cow, which was seropositive to N caninum antibody by indirect immunofluoresent assay, aborted consecutively within a 10-month period. Two fetuses of 6- or 5-month of gestation were aborted in June 1996 and March 1997, respectively. Histologically, multifocal necrotizing encephalitis, nonsuppurative periportal hepatitis, myocarditis, and myositis were observed in both fetuses. Tachyzoites or tissue cysts detected in the brain, heart and liver were positive to N caninum but negative to Toxoplasma gondii by immunohistochemical method. The results of our study demonstrate that repeated abortion due to N caninum actually occurs in Korea. This is believed to the first report of repeated abortion associated with N caninum in Korea.
