Experimental study on the water inlet and outlet position of a solar collector reservoir for maximum efficiency

        S. Khodadadi,A. Ghanavati,M. R. Assari,M. Hatami,D. D. Ganji 대한기계학회 2015 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.29 No.5

An experimental study is conducted on the heat transfer in the reservoir of a solar water-heater flat-plate solar collector to obtain itstemperature distribution. A total of 29 temperature sensors are placed inside the reservoir, and 2 sensors in the water inlet and outlet passages. The effect of the inlet and outlet positions on the temperature distribution inside the reservoir is studied to obtain the best locationfor the maximum temperature range. When the inlet position is II and the outlet position is B (Fig. 3(c)), the reservoir exhibits the bestperformance because of the high temperature range and areas inside it.

Hamed Khodadadi,Ali Dehghani 제어로봇시스템학회 2016 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.10

The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning is a technology used in smart buildings, providing thermal comfort and acceptable air quality. Heating system is the most important part of this technology and several methods have been proposed for controlling it. The model of heating system includes time delay. Moreover, the model parameters are changed based on the operation mode. In this paper, Smith predictor is proposed as a solution for controlling the time delayed system. In addition, to overcome the uncertain condition of the model, a self-tuning PID controller is employed based on the fuzzy logic. Therefore, in this paper, a self-tuning fuzzy logic PID controller based on Smith predictor is proposed to control the heating system. The findings obtained from various simulation results verified the remarkable precision of the proposed method in controlling the heating system in comparison to the other controllers like PID and PID based on Smith predictor.

Effects of a Hydrophilic Polymer Soil Amendment on Stress Tolerance of Eucalyptus saligna

Davoud Khodadadi Dehkordi 한국원예학회 2017 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.58 No.4

This study evaluated the effect of the hydrophilic polymer Super-AB-A-300 on salt and drought resistancein Eucalyptus saligna Sm. One-year-old cuttings of E. saligna were treated with salt (2 L of 300 mM NaCl), droughtstress, and salt plus drought stress; an untreated set of cuttings was used as a control. All treatments were conductedwith and without the Super-AB-A-300 polymer in the soil mixture. The Super-AB-A-300 polymer held more waterin the soil during water-deficit conditions and promoted tolerance to salinity and drought stresses in the E. salignarooted cuttings. In addition, the Super-AB-A-300 polymer retained Cl-and Na+in the soil solution due to its highwater-holding capability and the exchangeable K+in the Super-AB-A-300 resulted in an amended K+/Na+balance inthe salt-treated plants. Furthermore, the Super-AB-A-300 polymer promoted greater resistance to salinity plus droughtstresses, due to the salt- and water-holding capabilities of the polymer.

      • Assessment of Relationship between Wilms' Tumor Gene (WT1) Expression in Peripheral Blood of Acute Leukemia Patients and Serum IL-12 and C3 Levels

Rezai, Omran,Khodadadi, Ali,Heike, Yuji,Mostafai, Ali,Gerdabi, Nader Dashti,Rashno, Mohammad,Abdoli, Zahra Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.16

Background: Leukemia is a common cancer among children and adolescents. Wilms' tumor gene (WT1) is highly expressed in patients with acute leukemia. It is found as a tumor associated antigen (TAA) in various types of hematopoietic malignancies and can be employed as a useful marker for targeted immunotherapy and monitoring of minimal residual disease (MRD). In this regard, WT1 is a transcription factor that promotes gene activation or repression depending on cellular and promoter context. The purpose of this study was assessment of WT1 gene expression in patients with acute leukemia, measurement of IL-12 and C3 levels in serum and evaluation of the relationship between them. Materials and Methods: We evaluated the expression of WT1 mRNA using real-time quantitative RT-PCR and serum levels of IL-12 and C3 using ELISA and nephelometry in peripheral blood of 12 newly diagnosed patients with acute leukemia and 12 controls. Results: The results of our study showed that the average wT1 gene expression in patients was 7.7 times higher than in healthy controls (P <0.05). In addition, IL-12 (P = 0.003) and C3 (P <0.0001) were significantly decreased in the test group compared to controls. Conclusions: WT1 expression levels are significantly higher in patients compared with control subjects whereas serum levels of interleukin-12 and C3 are significantly lower in patients. Wt1 expression levels in patients are inversely related with serum levels of IL-12 and C3.

Apple – biomorphic synthesis of porous ZnO nanostructures for glucose direct electrochemical biosensor

        Hengameh Fatemi,Abbas Ali Khodadadi,Azam Anaraki Firooz,Yadollah Mortazavi 한국물리학회 2012 Current Applied Physics Vol.12 No.4

Biomorphic porous ZnO nanostructures were successfully synthesized via an aqueous solegel soaking process using pieces of apple flesh and skin as templates and employed for glucose direct electrochemical biosensor. The structure and morphology of ZnO nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). By modifying glassy carbon electrode with the biomorphic ZnO nanostructures and Nafion, two glucose biosensors were constructed and their direct electrochemistry of glucose oxidase (GOD) was successfully investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV). The biomorphic porous ZnO nanostructures using apple skin template (S-ZnO) were more effective in facilitating the electron transfer of immobilized GOD than that of using flesh apple template (F-ZnO). This may be a result of the unique morphology and smaller average crystallite size of the S-ZnO nanostructure. GOD immobilized on Nafion-porous S-ZnO nanostructure composite display direct, reversible, and surface-controlled redox reaction with a detection limit of 10 mM, a response time of 7 s, high sensitivity of 23.4 mA/mM cm2 and a fast heterogeneous electron transfer rate with a rate constant (ks) of 3.9 s-1. It was found that S-ZnO significantly has improved the direct electron transfer between GOD and glassy carbon electrode with good stability and reproducibility. • Fuzzy Logic Self-Tuning PID Control for a Single-Link Flexible Joint Robot Manipulator in the presence of Uncertainty

Ali Dehghani,Hamed Khodadadi 제어로봇시스템학회 2015 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.10

Nowadays, flexible joint robots (FJR) manipulators are widely used at industry; however, these robots have several problems. These problems are in the joint and with links. Another problem is their complex dynamics that make control of this robot have some challenges. Non-linearity, interaction between loops and flexibility in the joint cause this problem. The present paper has focused to improve the tracking performance of these robots. Therefore, at the first step, we need to use physical relations of system and determine a model for the FJR. In this paper, the Fuzzy Logic Self- Tuning PID (FLST-PID) controller will be introduced to keep the rotating angle of the link of FJR at desired position. In the classic PID forms, the parameter values of the controller i.e. Kp , Ki , Kd are calculated in many various methods like Ziegler-Nichols and are constant. In FLST-PID, the parameter values computed by intelligent methods like fuzzy logic and they vary during the controlling process. For demonstrating the ability of the proposed controller, some classic controller like PID, LQR and State Feedback will be designed for FJR and the response of the system with these controllers will be compared. Moreover, by considering some uncertainty on systems parameters, the comparison will be performed once again. Simulation results confirm the claims and show that the proposed controller has the best response for the system especially in uncertainty conditions.

      • Designing a Neuro-Fuzzy PID Controller Based on Smith Predictor for Heating System

Ali Dehghani,Hamed Khodadadi 제어로봇시스템학회 2017 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.10

The most important part of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technology is heating System. This part is used in smart buildings and provides the desired air quality and thermal comfort. The time delay and uncertainty in model parameters due to the several operation mode cause the main challenges in heating system control by the traditional PID approaches. To overcome these problems, this paper presents an intelligent PID algorithm combines the fuzzy logic and neural network method together and used it in Smith predictor structure. Hence, a fuzzy neural network PID controller based on Smith predictor is proposed in this paper for the heating system. By correction of the dynamic learning of neural network and fuzzy inference, PID parameters of the controller get their optimal values. Simulation results of the heating system illustrate that the performance of the fuzzy neural network PID controller based on Smith predictor in comparison to the other control structures has been greatly improved, with fast response, smallest overshoot and lowest rise and settling time.

The Efficacy of Intramuscular Calcitonin Injection in the Management of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

        Alireza Ashraf,Mehdi Khodadadi,Amin Sadraei,Mahshid Naseri,Ali Nasseri 대한척추외과학회 2015 Asian Spine Journal Vol.9 No.1

Study Design: A prospective, cross-sectional, non-randomized study. Purpose: To assess the effectiveness of intramuscular calcitonin injection in the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). Overview of Literature: LSS, manifesting as chronic low back pain and neurogenic claudication, is a chronic condition with an increasing incidence in the elderly population having inadequate effective conservative treatment options. Methods: In this study, 36 patients with LSS who were diagnosed based on the clinical findings and magnetic resonance imaging were included. Patients received 100 IU of calcitonin per week for one month and were evaluated before and after treatment using the Oswestry disability index (ODI) questionnaire and visual analogue scale (VAS). Before treatment, the patients were divided into two subgroups based on their ODI results: patients with mild to moderate low back pain (disability, 0%–40%) and patients with severe or very severe low back pain (disability, 40%–100%). Results: In patients with mild to moderate low back pain, there were no significant changes in the ODI and VAS after calcitonin injection. But in patients with severe or very severe low back pain, pain severity, personal functions, ability to lift and carry objects, time interval between standing and initiation of pain, social life, disability percentage, and VAS were significantly improved after treatment with calcitonin. Conclusions: It seems that an intramuscular injection of low dose of calcitonin may have some beneficial effects on the pain due to LSS, especially in patients who suffer from severe or very severe low back pain.
