<P>The cAMP cascade and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) are critical modulators of depression. Here we have tested whether the antidepressive effect of the cAMP cascade is mediated by VEGF in the adult hippocampus. We used a conditional genetic system in which the Aplysia octopamine receptor (Ap oa(1)), a G(s)-coupled receptor, is transgenically expressed in the forebrain neurons of mice. Chronic activation of the heterologous Ap oa(1) by its natural ligand evoked antidepressant-like behaviors, accompanied by enhanced phosphorylation of cAMP response element-binding protein and transcription of VEGF in hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) neurons. Selective knockdown of VEGF in these cells during the period of cAMP elevation inhibited the antidepressant-like behaviors. These findings reveal a molecular interaction between the cAMP cascade and VEGF expression, and the pronounced behavioral consequences of this interaction shed light on the mechanism underlying neuronal VEGF functions in antidepression.</P>

Objectives:This study aimed at evaluating the reliability and validity of a Korean short version of the Body Shape Questionnaire(BSQ). Methods:The subjects included 467 adults in Daejeon, Korea. All subjects filled out the Korean version of BSQ, Body Dysmorphic Disorder Examination-Self Report; Korean version(Korean version : BDDE-SR), and Eating Disorder Inventory-2(EDI-2). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate the fit index of a different version of BSQ. The reliability and validity was checked. The BSQ was initially administrated to general adults(N=467), and the second time it was administered to a subset of subjects(N=88). Results:Confirmatory factor analysis of the different version of BSQ suggested that BSQ-8B was the best Korean BSQ in nonclinical samples. Test-retest Pearson’s coefficient was 0.907, the Cronbach’s alpha was 0.861. The correlation between the K-BSQ-8B and the BDDE-SR was 0.685(p<0.001) and correlation between the K-BSQ-8B and the EDI-2 was 0.655(p<0.001). Conclusion:This finding suggests that the K-BSQ-8B possesses good psychometric properties. The K-BSQ-8B is an useful tool for assessing the level of body concern among Korean adults.
디지털 충격과 전문직주의가 언론노동의 직무 만족에 미치는 영향 연구

2000년을 전후로 불어닥친 디지털화와 온라인화에 따라 전통매체인 종이신문은 다매체와 다플랫폼경쟁 환경에 적응하기 위하여 ‘선발행 후편집 관행’을 정착시키고 기자들에게 다매체에 적응할 수 있는 ‘다중 업무 수행능력’을 요구하고 있다. 본 연구는 주로 디지털 충격으로 나타나는 취재관행의 변화와 권위적 경영스타일이 어떻게 신문 종사자들의 노동강도를 강화시키고 직무 만족도를 저하시키는지 살펴보기 위하여 언론노조와 함께 여론조사를 실시하였다. 2019년 8월 12일부터 9월 30일까지 총 531명의 편집국 내외의 언론종사자를 대상으로 온라인 여론조사를 실시한 결과 다음과 같은 연구 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 우선 디지털 충격이 취재 관행에 미친 변화에서 기사가 부실해질수록, 그리고 속보 중시 경향이 심할수록 직무만족도가 낮다는 점을 확인하였다. 둘째로 디지털 충격이 뉴스룸 정책에 미친 영향으로 경영스타일이 권위적이라고 생각할수록 직무만족도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 전문직주의(사회적 책임의식과 조직 내 소통)가 강할수록 직무만족도가 높아지는 것으로 확인하였다. 이런 연구 결과에 관한 연구 의의와 학술적 기여에 대한 논의가 추가되었다. The shock wave of digitalization initiated around the year 2000 has led newspapers, as part of traditional mass media, to the new practices of ‘publishing-first, editing-second’ in an attempt to adapt to a multimedia/multi-platforms environment, which has effectively forced journalists to be prepared for multi-tasking skills. In order to find out how authoritative management styles and the changes in news gathering practices following the impact of digitalization has led to increasing labor intensity while decreasing job satisfaction of journalistic labor, this study surveyed the members of the National Union of Press Workers, South Korea. As a result of the online questionnaire survey, participated by a total of 531 journalistic workers between 12th August and 30th September 2019, this study has found: firstly, in terms of the changing effect of digitalization on news gathering practices, the fact that the lower the subjective quality evaluation of news articles is and the graver the leaning towards breaking news is, the lower the job satisfaction level becomes; secondly, in terms of the impact of digitalization on newsroom policy, the more authoritative the management styles the workers evaluate as, the lower the job satisfaction level becomes; and thirdly, the fact that the stronger their level of professionalism -a higher sense of social responsibility and a smoother communication in their organization - is, the higher the job satisfaction level becomes.
An Assessment of Korean Students’ Environmental Literacy

This study was initiated to understand what students know, how they feel, and how they act in the perspectives of environmental literacy. This study takes it a very serious problem that there has been no data about Korean students’status of environmental literacy so far. Based on the correct diagnosis of Korean students’ environmental literacy, environmental education in Korea, including national curriculum, teaching materials and strategy, would take the right way. This study accepts Simmon (1995)’s framework of environmental literacy, consisting of 5 areas, environmental knowledge, skills, affect, and behavior, which is consistent with general goals of environmental education. This study analyzed the relationship between areas in environmental literacy and factors contributing to improving students’ environmental literacy. This study also checked which factors, including age, gender, parents’ schooling, environmental education in schools, and students’ science-related attributes, contributed to improving students’ environmental literacy. The results of this study will help science educators keep in mind how important it is to teach science from the perspectives of environmental literacy.
