<P><B>Background</B></P><P>We investigated an association between the levels of plasma microRNA (miRNA)-21, -26a, and -29a-3p and treatment outcomes following transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>A total of 198 patients with TACE-treated HCC were followed up for TACE refractoriness and liver transplantation (LT)-free survival. Pretreatment plasma miRNA-21, -26a, and -29a-3p levels were measured using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>During the mean follow-up of 22.3 (range, 0.7–79) months, 118 (59.6%) patients exhibited TACE refractoriness. Multivariate analyses showed that expression of a specific combination of miRNAs (miRNA-21 ≥ 2.5, miRNA-26a ≥ 1.5, and miRNA-29a-3p < 0.4) was associated with early TACE refractoriness (within 1 year; hazard ratio [HR], 2.32; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.08–4.99; <I>P</I> = 0.031) together with tumor size (HR, 4.62; 95% CI, 1.50–14.21; <I>P</I> = 0.008), and macrovascular invasion (HR, 3.80; 95% CI, 1.19–12.20; <I>P</I> = 0.025). However, miRNA-21, -26a, and -29a-3p levels were not significantly associated with overall TACE refractoriness or LT-free survival. Additionally, large tumor size and macrovascular invasion were common predictive factor of overall TACE refractoriness and survival.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Combination of plasma miRNA-21, -26a, and -29a-3p expression could predict early TACE refractoriness in patients with TACE-treated HCC.</P>

In this paper, we propose an effective routing protocol that can be particularly applied to SDDC (Sangmyung Direct Digital Controller) BAS. We have used NS (Network Simulator)-2 to simulate the real building for SDDC BAS. The static, session, DV (Distance Vector), and LS (Link State) algorithms are used and the protocols for performance comparison and evaluation are compared with respect to end to end delay, throughput, and routing overhead. The simulation results show that the DV algorithm is effective for SDDC BAS.

Adaptive Wireless Schedulers based on IEEE 802.11e HCCA

We identify the problem of the current IEEE 802.11e HCCA (Hybrid Coordination Function Controlled Channel Access) scheduler and its numerous variations, that the queue information cannot be notified to the Hybrid Coordinator (HC) timely, therefore the uplink delay lengthens unnecessarily. We suggests a simple solution and a couple of implementation practices, namely the Adaptive Scheduler with RTS/CTS (ASR) and Adaptive Scheduler with Data/Ack (ASD). They are both further elaborated to emulate the Deficit Round Robin (DRR) scheduler. They are finally compared with existing exemplary schedulers through simulations, and shown to perform well.

본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 트래픽에 대한 성능 향상을 목표로 ASR-DRR, ASD-DRR이라 명명한 IEEE 802.11e HCCA기반에서 서비스 품질 보장이 가능한 스케줄링 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 또한 IEEE 802.11e HCCA(Hybrid Coordination Function Controlled Channel Access) 스케줄러와 관련된 다수의 개선된 형태의 스케줄러들이 실제 큐 사이즈 정보를 실시간으로 HC(Hybrid Coodinator)에 전달하지 못하여 생기는 불필요한 지연시간에 대해 지적하였다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 현재 큐 상태를 최대한 실시간으로 전달할 수 있는 간단한 해결책을 제안하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 두 가지 구현방안을 제시하였다. 이를 RTS(Request to Send)/CTS(Clear to Send)를 활용한 적응형 스케줄러(ASR)와 Data/Ack를 활용한 적응형 스케줄러(ASD)라고 한다. 이들 구현 방안들은 유선환경에서의 DRR(Deficit Round Robin) 스케줄러를 모방하여 최적화되었다. 또한 제안하는 스케줄러의 성능을 알아보기 위해 NS-2 시뮬레이터를 활용하여 기존 스케줄러와 비교한 결과 훨씬 좋은 성능을 보임을 확인하였다. Lymphatic disorders encompass a broad spectrum of diseases involving the lymphatic system, ranging from traumatic lymphatic leaks to lymphatic malformations. Lymphatic disorders can be categorized into traumatic and non-traumatic disorders according to their etiology. These two categories may be further divided into subgroups depending on the anatomical location of the lymphatic pathology and their association with clinical syndromes. Thoracic duct embolization was a milestone in the field of lymphatic intervention that encouraged the application of percutaneous embolization techniques to treat leaks and reflux disorders in the lymphatic system. Additional access routes for embolization, including retrograde thoracic duct and transhepatic lymphatic access, have also been developed. This article comprehensively reviews a variety of options for the treatment of lymphatic disorders, from conservative management to the most recent embolization techniques.

Recent advances in lymphatic imaging have provided novel insights into the lymphatic system. Interventional radiology has played a significant role in the development of lymphatic imaging techniques and modalities. Radiologists should be familiar with the basic physiology and anatomy of the lymphatic system to understand the imaging features of lymphatic disorders, which reflect their pathophysiology. This study comprehensively reviews the physiological and anatomical aspects of the human lymphatic system as well as the latest lymphatic imaging techniques.
