Fractional order complementary non-singular terminal sliding mode control of PMSM based on neural network

        Jinliang Zhang,Dunbin Zhu,Wei Jian,Wentao Hu,Guosheng Peng,Yufeng Chen,Zhihu Wang 한국자동차공학회 2024 International journal of automotive technology Vol.25 No.2

Aiming at the sensitivity problems of uncertain factors such as parameter variation, external disturbance and friction for thepermanent magnet synchronous motor control system of electric vehicle, a fractional order complementary non-singular terminalsliding mode control method based on neural network is proposed. The mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronousmotor with uncertain factors was established. The sliding mode controller was designed by combining the generalized slidingmode surface and the complementary sliding mode surface, which shortened the arrival time from the state trajectory to slidingmode surface. The fractional calculus operator with fi ltering characteristics was used to improve the position tracking accuracyand reduce the chattering. As for the variety of uncertain disturbances, the neural network was used to estimate the system totaluncertainty and compensate online to further improve the dynamic response ability and anti-interference ability. Finally, thesimulation results verify the eff ectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method, which can provide theoretical and technicalsupport for improving the control accuracy of permanent magnet synchronous motor and the development of electric vehicles.

GAN-Based Local Lightness-Aware Enhancement Network for Underexposed Images

        Yong Chen,Meiyong Huang,Huanlin Liu,Jinliang Zhang,Kaixin Shao 한국정보처리학회 2022 Journal of information processing systems Vol.18 No.4

Uneven light in real-world causes visual degradation for underexposed regions. For these regions, insufficientconsideration during enhancement procedure will result in over-/under-exposure, loss of details and colordistortion. Confronting such challenges, an unsupervised low-light image enhancement network is proposed inthis paper based on the guidance of the unpaired low-/normal-light images. The key components in our networkinclude super-resolution module (SRM), a GAN-based low-light image enhancement network (LLIEN), anddenoising-scaling module (DSM). The SRM improves the resolution of the low-light input images beforeillumination enhancement. Such design philosophy improves the effectiveness of texture details preservationby operating in high-resolution space. Subsequently, local lightness attention module in LLIEN effectivelydistinguishes unevenly illuminated areas and puts emphasis on low-light areas, ensuring the spatial consistencyof illumination for locally underexposed images. Then, multiple discriminators, i.e., global discriminator, localregion discriminator, and color discriminator performs assessment from different perspectives to avoid over-/under-exposure and color distortion, which guides the network to generate images that in line with humanaesthetic perception. Finally, the DSM performs noise removal and obtains high-quality enhanced images. Bothqualitative and quantitative experiments demonstrate that our approach achieves favorable results, whichindicates its superior capacity on illumination and texture details restoration.

      • Molecular Recognition Enables Nanosubstrate-Mediated Delivery of Gene-Encapsulated Nanoparticles with High Efficiency

        Peng, Jinliang,Garcia, Mitch André,Choi, Jin-sil,Zhao, Libo,Chen, Kuan-Ju,Bernstein, James R.,Peyda, Parham,Hsiao, Yu-Sheng,Liu, Katherine W.,Lin, Wei-Yu,Pyle, April D.,Wang, Hao,Hou, Shuang,Tse American Chemical Society 2014 ACS NANO Vol.8 No.5

Substrate-mediated gene delivery is a promising method due to its unique ability to preconcentrate exogenous genes onto designated substrates. However, many challenges remain to enable continuous and multiround delivery of the gene using the same substrates without depositing payloads and immobilizing cells in each round of delivery. Herein we introduce a gene delivery system, nanosubstrate-mediated delivery (NSMD) platform, based on two functional components with nanoscale features, including (1) DNA⊂SNPs, supramolecular nanoparticle (SNP) vectors for gene encapsulation, and (2) Ad-SiNWS, adamantane (Ad)-grafted silicon nanowire substrates. The multivalent molecular recognition between the Ad motifs on Ad-SiNWS and the β-cyclodextrin (CD) motifs on DNA⊂SNPs leads to dynamic assembly and local enrichment of DNA⊂SNPs from the surrounding medium onto Ad-SiNWS. Subsequently, once cells settled on the substrate, DNA⊂SNPs enriched on Ad-SiNWS were introduced through the cell membranes by intimate contact with individual nanowires on Ad-SiNWS, resulting in a highly efficient delivery of exogenous genes. Most importantly, sequential delivery of multiple batches of exogenous genes on the same batch cells settled on Ad-SiNWS was realized by sequential additions of the corresponding DNA⊂SNPs with equivalent efficiency. Moreover, using the NSMD platform in vivo, cells recruited on subcutaneously transplanted Ad-SiNWS were also efficiently transfected with exogenous genes loaded into SNPs, validating the in vivo feasibility of this system. We believe that this nanosubstrate-mediated delivery platform will provide a superior system for in vitro and in vivo gene delivery and can be further used for the encapsulation and delivery of other biomolecules.

An Integrated Nomogram Combining Clinical Factors and Microtubule-Associated Protein 1 Light Chain 3B Expression to Predict Postoperative Prognosis in Patients with Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma

        Liang Chen,Hongyuan Fu,Tongyu Lu,Jianye Cai,Wei Liu,Jia Yao,Jinliang Liang,Hui Zhao,Jiebin Zhang,Jun Zheng,Yingcai Zhang,Yang Yang 대한암학회 2020 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.52 No.2

Purpose Microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3B (LC3B) serves as a key component of autophagy, which is associated with the progression of carcinoma. Yet, it is still unclear whether LC3B is also an independent risk factor for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). We aim to explore the predictive value of LC3B on prognosis of ICC, and to establish a novel and available nomogram to predict relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) for these patients after curative-intent hepatectomy. Materials and Methods From August 2004 to March 2017, 105 ICC patients were eligibly enrolled in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Preoperative clinical information of enrolled patients was collected. Expression LC3B in the ICC specimen was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The 5-year RFS and OS in this cohort were 15.7% and 29.6%, respectively. On multivariate Cox regression analysis, independent risk factors for 5-year OS were cancer antigen 125, microvascular invasion, LC3B expression and lymph node metastasis. Except for the above 4 factors, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and tumor differentiation were independent factors for 5-year RFS. The area under the curve of nomograms for OS and RFS were 0.820 and 0.747, respectively. Conclusion The nomograms based on LC3B can be considered as effective models to predict postoperative survival for ICC patients.

Tailoring Mechanical Properties of a Low Carbon Cu-Containing Structural Steel by Two-Step Intercritical Heat Treatment

        Xiaohui Xi,Jinliang Wang,Liqing Chen,Zhaodong Wang 대한금속·재료학회 2019 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.25 No.6

In this paper, a process of two-step intercritical heat treatment was used to control the amount of retained austenite andnano-scaled precipitates for a low carbon Cu-containing structural steel such that the mechanical properties of this steelcan be tailored. In this process, the first step is intercritical annealing and a mixed microstructure can be obtained whichcontains intercritical ferrite, tempered martensite, fresh martensite and a small amount of retained austenite. The subsequentintercritical tempering was introduced to be beneficial for producing more stable retained austenite at room temperaturethrough secondary enrichment of stabilizers (Mn, Ni). Also, (Nb, V, Mo) (C, N) precipitates were formed during intercriticalannealing, while smaller (Nb, V, Mo) (C, N) precipitates and Cu-rich particles with diameter of 5–15 nm were obtainedafter intercritical tempering. It is due to the contributions from multi-phase microstructure, strain-induced transformation ofstable retained austenite and strengthening of nano-scaled precipitates that a combination of high strength, good ductility, low yield to tensile ratio (Y/T ratio) and excellent low-temperature toughness was achieved. The strengthening and tougheningmechanism were discussed on the basis of retained austenite formation and interaction between Cu precipitates and thematrix, together with the crack propagation.

Effects of replacing fish oil with palm oil in diets of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) on muscle biochemical composition, enzyme activities, and mRNA expression of growth-related genes

        Christian Larbi Ayisi,Jinliang Zhao,Chen Yame,Andrews Apraku,Grace Debra 한국수산과학회 2019 Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Vol.22 No.4

Background: Due to the continuous demand for fish coupled with decline in capture fisheries, there is the need to increase aquaculture production to meet the demand. Aquaculture is faced with high cost of feeding since fish oil and fish meal are expensive. In view of this, there are calls to explore alternatives that are cheap and reliable. Objectives: This study on Oreochromis niloticus was conducted to evaluate the effects of replacing fish oil (FO) with palm oil (PO) at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% on muscle fatty acid and proximate composition as well as growthrelated enzyme activities and mRNA expression. Methods: Oreochromis niloticus were fed five experimental diets (33% crude protein and 10% crude lipid) for 8 weeks. Feed had variation in fish oil and palm oil contents. After the 8 weeks feeding trial, five fish were sampled from each tank (15 from each treatment) and euthanized using an excess dose of tricaine methane sulfonate (MS- 222 at 200 mg/L). Fatty acid and enzyme activities were analyzed using standard protocols. Also, RT-qPCR was used to quantify the expression levels of selected growth-related genes. Results: Fish fed 25% PO recorded the least muscle protein content and was significantly lower than the group fed 100% PO. Paired box protein 7 (Pax-7) enzyme activity was significantly higher in the group fed 50% PO compared to the groups fed 25% PO and 100% PO, while caplain-3 (Capn-3) was significantly lower in the group fed 0% PO compared to all other groups. There was a significant difference among treatments with respect to mRNA expression of Pax-7 and Capn-3. Group fed 25% PO had significantly lower mRNA expression of Pax-7, while the group fed 75% PO recorded significantly higher mRNA expression of Capn-3 compared to groups fed 0% PO, 25% PO, and 100% PO. Pearson’s correlation analysis revealed that Igf-I and Igf-II mRNA expression have significant correlation with n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids content in muscle. Conclusion: The results suggest muscle protein content could be modified if FO is replaced with PO. Also, mRNA expression of Pax-7 and Capn-3 is affected by replacing FO with PO.

      • Expression Vectors for Human-mouse Chimeric Antibodies

Xiong, Hua,Ran, Yuliang,Xing, Jinliang,Yang, Xiangmin,Li, Yu,Chen, Zhinan Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2005 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.38 No.4

The production of recombinant antibodies has been generally recognized as time-consuming and labor-intensive. The aim of our study is to construct mammalian expression vectors containing the cDNA encoding the human constant regions and murine variable regions to massively and cost-effectively produce full-length chimeric antibodies. Unique restriction sites flanking the Ig variable region were designed to allow for the replacement of variable regions generated by PCR. Western blot analysis of the chimeric antibodies revealed that the expressed products were of the predicted size, structure and specificity. The usefulness of the vectors was confirmed by construction of human-mouse chimeric antibody-HCAb which secretes murine antibody against the human colorectal cancer. Selected in medium containing gradually increasing methotrexate (MTX), clones with increased expression of the product gene can be efficiently generated. The secretion of recombinant chimeric antibody-HCAb yielded $30\;pg\;cell^{-1}\;day^{-1}$ at $10^{-6}\;M$ MTX. With this high-level expression from pools, the convenient and rapid production of over 100 milligram amounts per liter of recombinant antibodies may be achieved, which indicates the significant roles of pYR-GCEVH and pYR-GCEVL in the production of chimeric antibodies.

CNN-aided timing synchronization in OFDM systems by exploiting lightweight cascaded mode

        Qing Chaojin,Yang Na,Tang Shuhai,Chen Jinliang,Wang Jiafan 한국통신학회 2024 ICT Express Vol.10 No.1

In orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, the existing timing synchronization (TS) methods are challenged by high computational complexity, large processing delay, and performance degradation in wireless scenarios. To alleviate these issues, a lightweight cascaded one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1-D CNN)-based TS scheme is proposed in this paper, which is developed from the joint perspective of considering cascaded mode and network lightweight. Specifically, we meticulously design two lightweight subnetworks. The first one is implemented with only one 1-D CNN layer due to the coarse timing offset task, which aims to reduce the search range of TS for the following subnetwork. Based on the narrowed search range of TS, the second subnetwork is also light-weighted with a two-layer 1-D CNN, which refines the estimation of timing offset. By jointly considering the cascaded mode and the lightweight 1-D CNN, the proposed scheme improves the TS correctness with reduced computational complexity and processing delay compared with the existing works. Simulation results validate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed TS scheme given variant parameters.
