Innovative utilization of red mud through co-roasting with coal gangue for separation of iron and aluminum minerals

        Jianping Jin,Xiao Liu,Shuai Yuan,Peng Gao,Yanjun Li,Hao Zhang,Xiangzhi Meng 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.98 No.-

Red mud and coal gangue are industrial solid wastes discharged during alumina extraction and coalmining, respectively. As these are hazardous materials, their disposal leads to serious environmentalissues. In this study, an innovative utilization of red mud through co-roasting with coal gangue forseparation and recycling of iron and aluminum minerals is presented. Under optimum co-roastingconditions (550 C for 50 min), an iron concentrate containing 57.25% TFe (total iron content) with therecovery of 65.22%, and an aluminum-rich product containing 27.26% Al2O3 with the recovery of 71.37%were obtained after magnetic separation. The characteristics of mixed raw material and products allindicated that the goethite and hematite phases in the mixed raw material were transformed into amagnetite phase after co-roasting, although some of the magnetite generated during co-roasting wasoxidized to hematite again. This study demonstrates that co-roasting of coal gangue and red mud is apromising technology for the reduction of iron and activation of aluminum to realize resource recyclingwithout additional materials

SEMISUPERVISED CLASSIFICATION FOR FAULT DIAGNOSIS IN NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

JIANPING MA,Jin Jiang 한국원자력학회 2015 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.47 No.2

Pattern classifications have become important tools for fault diagnosis in nuclear powerplants (NPP). However, it is often difficult to obtain training data under fault conditionsto train a supervised classification model. By contrast, normal plant operating data canbe easily made available through increased deployment of supervisory, control, and dataacquisition systems. Such data can also be used to train classification models to improvethe performance of fault diagnosis scheme. In this paper, a fault diagnosis scheme based on semisupervised classification (SSC)scheme is developed. In this scheme, new measurements collected from the plant areintegrated with data observed under fault conditions to train the SSC models. The trainedmodels are subsequently applied to new measurements for fault diagnosis. In comparisonwith supervised classifiers, the proposed scheme requires significantly fewer data collectedunder fault conditions to train the classifier. The developed scheme has been validated using different fault scenarios on a desktopNPP simulator as well as on a physical NPP simulator using a graph-based SSC algorithm. All the considered faults have been successfully diagnosed. The results have demonstrated that SSC is a promising tool for fault diagnosis in NPPs

      • Valley V² Control Technique for Switching Converters with Fast Transient Response

        Guohua Zhou,Jianping Xu,Jin Sha,Yanyan Jin 전력전자학회 2011 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2011 No.5

Valley V² control technique for switching converters is proposed in this paper. By utilizing output voltage ripple as pulse-width modulation ramp and valley voltage of output voltage ripple as additional control variable, valley V² control technique provides faster load transient response than conventional current-mode control techniques. Steady-state and transient performances of switching converters with valley V² control, peak V² control, and current-mode control are compared and verified by experimental results.

Transcriptome-based identification of the optimal reference genes as internal controls for quantitative RT-PCR in razor clam (Sinonovacula constricta)

        Xuelin Zhao,Jianping Fu,Liting Jiang,Weiwei Zhang,Yina Shao,Chunhua Jin,Jinbo Xiong,Chenghua Li 한국유전학회 2018 Genes & Genomics Vol.40 No.6

Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) is a standard method to measure gene expression in function exploring. Accurate and reproducible data of qRT-PCR requires appropriate reference genes, which are stably expressed under different experimental conditions. However, no housekeeping genes were validated as internal controls for qRT-PCR in Sinonovacula constricta. In this study, we classified the transcriptome data of two tissues for Vibrio infection and Cd2+ stress into ten clusters based on the gene expression patterns. Among them, cluster 5 had the most stable gene expression patterns regardless of tissues and treatments as the database for candidate reference genes. A total of 55 orthologs of classical housekeeping genes in the clam transcriptome were annotated. Combined the expression profiles and housekeeping genes in S. constricta, we chose eight candidate reference genes and validated their expression in Vibrio-infected samples and different tissues by qRT-PCR. Their expression stability was analyzed by three different algorithms geNorm, NormFinder and BestKeeper. Although the rank of the eight candidate reference genes is different in different treatments using different software, RS9 could be the best reference genes for normalization of qRT-PCR expression data in S. constricta under various treatments considering the above analysis. Meanwhile, the ranking of genes based on the CV values of transcriptomic data was similar to the validation results. This study provides for the first time a list of suitable reference genes for S. constricta and a valuable resource for further studies of clam immune defense systems.

Privacy Protection Method for Sensitive Weighted Edges in Social Networks

( Weihua Gong ),( Rong Jin ),( Yanjun Li ),( Lianghuai Yang ),( Jianping Mei ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2021 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.15 No.2

Privacy vulnerability of social networks is one of the major concerns for social science research and business analysis. Most existing studies which mainly focus on un-weighted network graph, have designed various privacy models similar to k-anonymity to prevent data disclosure of vertex attributes or relationships, but they may be suffered from serious problems of huge information loss and significant modification of key properties of the network structure. Furthermore, there still lacks further considerations of privacy protection for important sensitive edges in weighted social networks. To address this problem, this paper proposes a privacy preserving method to protect sensitive weighted edges. Firstly, the sensitive edges are differentiated from weighted edges according to the edge betweenness centrality, which evaluates the importance of entities in social network. Then, the perturbation operations are used to preserve the privacy of weighted social network by adding some pseudo-edges or modifying specific edge weights, so that the bottleneck problem of information flow can be well resolved in key area of the social network. Experimental results show that the proposed method can not only effectively preserve the sensitive edges with lower computation cost, but also maintain the stability of the network structures. Further, the capability of defending against malicious attacks to important sensitive edges has been greatly improved.

        Jae-Hyun Ryou,Yoder, P.D.,Jianping Liu,Lochner, Z.,Hyunsoo Kim,Suk Choi,Hee Jin Kim,Dupuis, R.D. IEEE 2009 IEEE journal of selected topics in quantum electro Vol.15 No.4

<P>This paper reviews current technological developments in polarization engineering and the control of the quantum-confined Stark effect (QCSE) for In<I>x</I>Ga1- <I>x</I>N-based quantum-well active regions, which are generally employed in visible LEDs for solid-state lighting applications. First, the origin of the QCSE in III-N wurtzite semiconductors is introduced, and polarization-induced internal fields are discussed in order to provide contextual background. Next, the optical and electrical properties of In<I>x</I>Ga1- <I>x</I>N-based quantum wells that are affected by the QCSE are described. Finally, several methods for controlling the QCSE of In<I>x</I>Ga1- <I>x</I>N-based quantum wells are discussed in the context of performance metrics of visible light emitters, considering both pros and cons. These strategies include doping control, strain/polarization field/electronic band structure control, growth direction control, and crystalline structure control.</P>
