      • miR-124 Inhibits Growth and Invasion of Gastric Cancer by Targeting ROCK1

Hu, Cong-Bing,Li, Qiao-Lin,Hu, Jian-Fei,Zhang, Qiang,Xie, Jian-Ping,Deng, Li Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.16

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) act as critical regulators of genes involved in many biological processes. Aberrant alteration of miRNAs have been found in many cancers, including gastric cancer (GC), but the molecular mechanisms are not well understood. Herein, we investigated the role of miR-124 in GC. We found that its expression was significantly reduced in both GC tissue samples and cell lines. Forced expression of miR-124 suppressed GC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Furthermore, the Rho-associated protein kinase (ROCK1) was identified as a direct target of miR-124 in GC cells. Finally, silencing of ROCK1 showed similar effects as miR-124 overexpression, while supplementation of ROCK1 remarkably restored the cell growth and invasion inhibited by miR-124. Together, our data demonstrate that miR-124 acts as a tumor suppressor by targeting ROCK1, and posit miR-124 as a novel strategy for GC treatment.

Experimental Study on the Effect of Additives on Drainage Consolidation in Vacuum Preloading Combined with Electroosmosis

        Jianli Hu,Xiaobing Li,Dikang Zhang,Jun Wang,Xiuqing Hu,Yuanqiang Cai 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.24 No.9

Vacuum-electroosmosis is a common method of foundation treatment; however, it is disadvantaged by fine soil particles clogging the drainage plate. To overcome this issue, this study treated the dredged fill from vacuum-electroosmosis with different additives. The parameters of discharged water, current, water content, and shear strength of soils treated with different amounts of Ca(OH)2, FeCl3, and NaCl were analyzed. The results showed that different additives have different effects on the vacuum-electroosmosis method for reinforcing dredger filling. Excessive additive contents were found to have an adverse effect on vacuum-electroosmosis, and hence, optimum amounts are required for the three additives. On comparing the optimum dosage of these additives, FeCl3 was observed to be the most energy-saving. From the aspect of anode corrosion and the costs involved, Ca(OH)2 was the most economical. For practical engineering applications, Ca(OH)2 was the most preferable additive. The results of this study provide guidance and scientific criteria for similar dredging foundation treatments.

      • How to Become an Elite Wushu (Kung-fu) Routine Athlete? Research on Development Factors

        Jian Sun,Shali Hu,Xin Liu,May-Helen P. Stroemsmo 아시아건강운동학회 2019 Journal of Asian Society for Health & Exercise Vol.1 No.2

In order to know the developing pattern of the Wushu routine elite athletes, the research methods such as questionnaire, interview, case study and statistical analysis were used in this study. Through the study of the development of Chinese Wushu routine athletes, we found that there are five factors that influenced the developments of those athletes: the innate motivation, the external motivation, material guarantee, interpersonal environment and the choosing of opportunity. These five major key elements do not exist in isolation, but each take different proportion in different periods, and closely related and interact with each other. They have formed a dynamic open system.

Influence of Wet-Dry Cycles on Uniaxial Compression Behavior of Fissured Loess Disturbed by Vibratory Loads

        Jian Xu,Liyang Zhou,Ke Hu,Yanfeng Li,Xiangang Zhou,Songhe Wang 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.26 No.5

In this study, the influence of wet-dry cycles on the uniaxial compression behavior of fissured loess after vibration was investigated by small shaking table tests, wet-dry tests, and uniaxial compression tests. Results show that the initial elastic modulus and peak strength both decline after wet-dry cycles while the morphology of stress-strain curves shows insignificant changes. Except for samples with a fissure angle α = 45°, where the bimodal stress-strain curves were observed, all show softening trend. The failure mode can be classified into four main types: fracture failure (α = 0° and 15°), slip-fracture coupled failure (α = 45°), slip failure (α = 60°), and compression shear failure (α = 30° and 90°). The failure modes of samples at α = 0°, 15°, 45°, and 60° are independent of wet-dry cycles but strongly depend on fissure angle, while those at the other fissure angles are more susceptible to wet-dry cycles. The uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of fissured loess samples before vibration are greater than those after vibration. The relationship between UCS and fissure angle before and after vibration show double-valley pattern. A binary medium model for fissured loess considering vibration and wet-dry cycles was constructed, which was verified by test data.

The Protective Effect of Sodium Hyaluronate on the Cartilage of Rabbit Osteoarthritis by Inhibiting Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-Gamma Messenger RNA Expression

        Jian-lin Zhou,Shi-qing Liu,Bo Qiu,Qiong-jie Hu,Jiang-hua Ming,Hao Peng 연세대학교의과대학 2009 Yonsei medical journal Vol.50 No.6

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to study the protective effect and influence of sodium hyaluronate (Na- HA) on mRNA expression of peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) in cartilage of rabbit osteoarthritis (OA) model. Materials and Methods: Forty eight white rabbits were randomly divided into A, B, and C groups. Group A was normal control group, B and C groups underwent unilateral anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT). The rabbits in group B were injected normal saline after ACLT; and Group C received intraarticular1% sodium hyaluronate (HA) injection 5 weeks after surgery, 0.3 mL once a week. At 11th week after surgery, all the rabbits were sacrificed. The cartilage changes on the medial femoral condyles were graded separately. Cartilage sections were stained with safranin-O and HE, and messenger RNA (mRNA) expression of PPAR-γ was detected by using real time polymerase chain reaction (Real Time-PCR). Results: Cartilage degeneration in group B was significantly more severe than in A and C injection group. The grey value of Safranin- O of B group was higher than A and C groups. Expression of PPAR-γ mRNA in group B was higher than group A and C. Conclusion: This study shows that Na-HA has a protective effect on articular cartilage degeneration, and the inhibitory effect on the PPAR-γ mRNA expression may be one of therapeutic mechanism of Na-HA. Nonylcyclohexanol polyethoxylate, a greener alternative of nonylphenol polyethoxylate endows sodium oleate solution high salt tolerance

Jian-yi Liu,Xue-yi Hu,Lei Zhang,Yong-Mei Xia 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.120 No.-

Nonylphenol polyethoxylate (NPEOn) has been expected to enhance salt tolerance of system containingcarboxylates, but banned in countries recently. Herein, a group of new surfactants, nonylcyclohexanolpolyethoxylate (NCEOn) was formulated with sodium oleate (NaOA) into binary surfactant systems, toinvestigate their interaction towards salt tolerance, phase behavior, interface tension and lime soap dispersingrequirement in brine with comparison of NPEO10. The results indicate that the salt tolerance ofNaOA-NCEOn system increased with increasing NCEOn concentration and EO number, following the ordertowards the salts: SO42- > Cl- for anions and Na+ > Mg2+ > Ca2+ for cations, respectively. Moreover, cloudpoint (CP) of NaOA-NCEOn system was increased by adding NaOA but decreased by introducing inorganicsalts, respectively. The influence strength of cationic ions on CP decline was in the order: Na+ < Mg2+ <Ca2+. The thermodynamic parameters at CP explains the difference in salt tolerance of NaOA towardsmonovalent and divalent cations. Notably, the NCEO11(0.02 %)-NaOA (0.05 %) system exhibited similaror superior salt-tolerance in NaCl (20 %) or CaCl2 (2 %) brine, as NPEO10 did. The solubility of NaOA in saline(0.1 %-5%) was up to thousand folds of that in water, suggesting NCEOn a green substitute for NPEO10in the field.

Stability Control of Energy Storage Voltage Source Inverters in Isolated Power Systems

Hu, Jian,Fu, Lijun The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2018 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.18 No.6

Isolated power systems (IPS) are often characterized by a weak grid due to small power grids. The grid side voltage is no longer equivalent to an ideal voltage source of an infinitely big power grid. The conversion control of new energy sources, parameter perturbations as well as the load itself can easily cause the system voltage to oscillate or to become unstable. To solve this problem, increasing the energy-storage power sources is usually used to improve the reliability of a system. In order to provide support for the voltage, the energy-storage power source inverter needs an method to control the voltage source. Therefore, this paper has proposed the active damping control of a voltage source inverter (VSI) based on virtual compensation. By simplifying the VSI double closed-loop control, two feedback compensation channels have been constructed to reduce the VSI output impedance without changing the characteristics of the voltage gain of a system. This improvement allows systems to operate stably in a larger range. A frequency-domain analysis, and simulation and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Experimental and numerical study on ice resistance for icebreaking vessels

Jian Hu,Li Zhou 대한조선학회 2015 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.7 No.3

Ice resistance is defined as the time average of all longitudinal forces due to ice acting on the ship. Estimation of ship’s resistance in ice-covered waters is very important to both designers and shipbuilders since it is closely related to propulsion of a ship and it determines the engine power of the ship. Good ice performance requires ice resistance should be as low as possible to allow different manoeuvres. In this paper, different numerical methods are presented to calculate ice resistance, including semi-analytical method and empirical methods. A model test of an icebreaking vessel that was done in an ice basin has been introduced for going straight ahead in level ice at low speed. Then the comparison between model test results and numerical results are made. Some discussions and suggestions are presented as well to provide an insight into icebreaking vessel design at early stage.

A Resonant Characteristics Analysis and Suppression Strategy for Multiple Parallel Grid-connected Inverters with LCL Filter

        Jian-jun Sun,Wei Hu,Hui Zhou,Yi-ming Jiang,Xiao-ming Zha 전력전자학회 2016 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.16 No.4

Multiple parallel inverters have multiple resonant frequencies that are influenced by many factors. This often results in stability and power quality problems. This paper develops a multiple input multiple output model of grid-connected inverter systems using a closed-loop transfer function. The influence factors of the resonant characteristics are analyzed with the developed model. The analysis results show that the resonant frequency is closely related to the number, type and composition ratio of the parallel inverters. To suppress resonance, a scheme based on virtual impedance is presented, where the virtual impedance is emulated in the vicinity of the resonance frequency. The proposed scheme needs one inverter with virtual impedance control, which reduces the design complexity of the other inverter controllers. Simulation and experimental tests are carried out on two single phase converter-based setups. The results validate the correctness of the model, the analytical results and the resonant suppressing scheme.

A Load Compensator Based on One-Cycle Control with Plug-In Repetitive Control

        Jian Hu,Zhaohui Sun,Hao Ma,Guozhu Chen 전력전자학회 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.2

This study proposes a novel one-cycle control scheme with a plug-in repetitive controller for load compensator. The novelty of this scheme lies in the combination of high dynamics and the simplicity of a one-cycle controller and good steady-state harmonic suppression ability of the repetitive controller. In addition, the proposed scheme can reduce the effect of the harmonics in phase voltage for the existence of the repetitive controller. Finally, experimental results on a three-phase, four-wire, three-level load compensator are reported to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
