Nonlinear Buckling Analysis of H-Type Honeycombed Composite Column with Rectangular Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Flanges

        Jing Ji,Zhichao Xu,Liangqin Jiang,Chaoqing Yuan,Yunfeng Zhang,Lijian Zhou,Shilong Zhang 한국강구조학회 2018 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.18 No.4

This paper was concerned with the nonlinear analysis on the overall stability of H-type honeycombed composite column with rectangular concrete-fi lled steel tube fl anges (STHCC). The nonlinear analysis was performed using ABAQUS, a commercially available fi nite element (FE) program. Nonlinear buckling analysis was carried out by inducing the fi rst buckling mode shape of the hinged column to the model as the initial imperfection with imperfection amplitude value of L /1000 and importing the simplifi ed constitutive model of steel and nonlinear constitutive model of concrete considering hoop eff ect. Close agreement was shown between the experimental results of 17 concrete-fi lled steel tube (CFST) specimens and 4 I-beams with top fl anges of rectangular concrete-fi lled steel tube (CFSFB) specimens conducted by former researchers and the predicted results, verifying the correctness of the method of FE analysis. Then, the FE models of 30 STHCC columns were established to investigate the infl uences of the concrete strength grade, the nominal slenderness ratio, the hoop coeffi cient and the fl ange width on the nonlinear stability capacity of SHTCC column. It was found that the hoop coeffi cient and the nominal slenderness ratio aff ected the nonlinear stability capacity more signifi cantly. Based on the results of parameter analysis, a formula was proposed to predict the nonlinear stability capacity of STHCC column which laid the foundation of the application of STHCC column in practical engineering.

Active Distribution System Planning Considering Battery Swapping Station for Low-carbon Objective using Immune Binary Firefly Algorithm

        Ji-Ying Shi,Ya-Jing Li,Fei Xue,Le-Tao Ling,Wen-An Liu,Da-Ling Yuan,Ting Yang 대한전기학회 2018 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.13 No.2

Active distribution system (ADS) considering distributed generation (DG) and electric vehicle (EV) is an effective way to cut carbon emission and improve system benefits. ADS is an evolving, complex and uncertain system, thus comprehensive model and effective optimization algorithms are needed. Battery swapping station (BSS) for EV service is an essential type of flexible load (FL). This paper establishes ADS planning model considering BSS firstly for the minimization of total cost including feeder investment, operation and maintenance, net loss and carbon tax. Meanwhile, immune binary firefly algorithm (IBFA) is proposed to optimize ADS planning. Firefly algorithm (FA) is a novel intelligent algorithm with simple structure and good convergence. By involving biological immune system into FA, IBFA adjusts antibody population scale to increase diversity and global search capability. To validate proposed algorithm, IBFA is compared with particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm on IEEE 39-bus system. The results prove that IBFA performs better than PSO in global search and convergence in ADS planning.

      • Simulation Analysis on Hysteretic Performance of Cross-type Rigid Node for Steel Frame Based on Abaqus

        Jing Ji,Bing Li,Wenfu Zhang,Yingchun Liu,Chaoqing Yuan,Fei Xing 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.1

In order to study the cross-type rigid steel frame node hysteretic behavior of components, the axial compression ratio, H type steel column web thickness, girder section and stiffener as design parameters, 8 steel frame cross-type rigid joints and a T-type rigid joint are designed. Based on simplified mechanical model and constitutive relations of material, using ABAQUS software the corresponding finite element model is established and the hysteretic performance analysis is carried out. Through comparison between given T-type node test results and analysis results, both are in good agreement, thus the rationality of the finite element model established in this paper is verified. Simulation analysis of cross-type node is developed in further, load -displacement hysteretic curve of nodes, skeleton curve, envelope figure and the stress nephogram are extracted and comparative analysis is conducted, influence regularity of four parameters on the seismic behavior of the joints is obtained. The corresponding design suggestion for the axial compression ratio and column web and flange thickness ratio is proposed, design limit value of axial compression ratio of column should be taken as 0.5 and limit value of column web and flange thickness ratio is taken as 0.75,and these can provide reference for actual engineering design.

      • Structure of Penta-Alanine Investigated by Two-Dimensional Infrared Spectroscopy and Molecular Dynamics Simulation

        Feng, Yuan,Huang, Jing,Kim, Seongheun,Shim, Ji Hyun,MacKerell, Alexander D.,Ge, Nien-Hui American Chemical Society 2016 The Journal of physical chemistry B Vol.120 No.24

We have studied the structure of (Ala)(5), a model unfolded peptide, using a combination of 2D IR spectroscopy and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. Two different isotopomers, each bis-labeled with C-13=O and C-13=O-18, were strategically designed to shift individual site frequencies and uncouple neighboring amide-I' modes. 2D IR. spectra taken under the double-crossed <pi/4, -pi/4, Y, Z > polarization show that the labeled four-oscillator systems can be approximated by three two-oscillator systems. By utilizing the different polarization dependence of diagonal and cross peaks, we extracted the coupling constants and angles between three pairs of amide-I' transition dipoles through spectral fitting. These parameters were related to the peptide backbone dihedral angles through DFT calculated maps. The derived dihedral angles are all located in the polyproline-II (ppII) region of the Ramachandran plot. These results were compared to the conformations sampled by Hamiltonian replica-exchange MD simulations with three different CHARMM force fields. The C36 force field predicted that ppII is the dominant conformation, consistent with the experimental findings, whereas C22/CMAP predicted similar population for alpha(+), beta, and ppII, and the polarizable Drude-2013 predicted dominating beta structure. Spectral simulation based on MD representative conformations and structure ensembles demonstrated the need to include multiple 2D spectral features, especially the cross-peak intensity ratio and shape, in structure determination. Using 2D reference spectra defined by the C36 structure ensemble, the best spectral simulation is achieved with nearly 100% ppII population, although the agreement with the experimental cross-peak intensity ratio is still insufficient. The dependence of population determination on the choice of reference structures/spectra and the current limitations on theoretical modeling relating peptide structures to spectral parameters are discussed. Compared with the previous results on alanine based oligopeptides, the dihedral angles of our fitted structure, and the most populated ppII structure from the C36 simulation are in good agreement with those suggesting a major ppII population. Our results provide further support for the importance of ppII conformation in the ensemble of unfolded peptides.

      • The MTHFR C677T Polymorphism and Risk of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: an Updated Meta-analysis Based on 37 Case-control Studies

        Jiang, Yuan,Hou, Jing,Zhang, Qiang,Jia, Shu-Ting,Wang, Bo-Yuan,Zhang, Ji-Hong,Tang, Wen-Ru,Luo, Ying Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.11

Background: The C677T polymorphism of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) has been associated with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). However, results were conflicting. The aim of this study was to quantitatively summarize the evidence for the MTHFRC677T polymorphism and ALL risk. Methods: Electronic searches of PubMed and the Chinese Biomedicine database were conducted to select case-control studies containing available genotype frequencies of C677T and the odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was used to assess the strength of any association. Results: Case-control studies including 6,371 cases and 10,850 controls were identified. The meta-analysis stratified by ethnicity showed that individuals with the homozygous TT genotype had decreased risk of ALL (OR= 0.776, 95% CI: 0.687~0.877, p< 0.001) in Caucasians (OR= 0.715, 95% CI: 0.655~0.781, p= 0.000). However, results among Asians (OR=0.711, 95% CI: 0.591~1.005, p= 0.055) and others (OR=0.913, 95% CI: 0.656~1.271, p= 0. 590) did not suggest an association. A symmetric funnel plot, the Egger's test (P=0.093), and the Begg- test (P=0.072) were all suggestive of the lack of publication bias. Conclusion: This meta-analysis supports the idea that the MTHFR C677T genotype is associated with risk of ALL in Caucasians. To draw comprehensive and true conclusions, further prospective studies with larger numbers of participants worldwide are needed to examine associations between the MTHFRC677T polymorphism and ALL.

      • Constituents and Effects of Ginseng Leaf

Xie, Jing-Tian,Wu, Ji-An,Lin, Elaine,Wang, Chong-Zhi,Yuan, Chun-Su Kyung Hee Oriental Medicine Research Center 2004 Oriental pharmacy and experimental medicine Vol.4 No.1

Ginseng root has been used as a tonic remedy in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries. Modern studies have demonstrated that ginseng root has complex components and multiple pharmacological properties. The effects of ginseng leaf, however, are not well known. Recent studies show that compared to ginseng root, ginseng leaf and stem exhibit a higher content of active compositions such as ginsenosides, polysaccharides, triterpene flavonoids, volatile oil, polyacetylenic alcohols, peptides, amino acids and fatty acids. Ginseng leaf possesses multiple pharmacological effects in the central nervous, cardiovascular, growth and metabolism systems. Additionally, the leaf has anti-fatigue, anti-hyperglycemic, anti-oxidant, and anti-aged effects. In general, ginseng leaf is quite safe, but adverse effects may occur if it is abused or is of poor quality. Thus, attention must be paid to dosages, quality, and standardization of ginseng leaf products.

Identification of seven novel virulence genes from Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri by Tn5-based random mutagenesis

        Xue Song,Jing Guo,Wen-xiu Ma,Zhi-yuan Ji,Li-fang Zou,Gong-you Chen,Hua-song Zou 한국미생물학회 2015 The journal of microbiology Vol.53 No.5

To identify novel virulence genes, a mutant library of Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri 29-1 was produced using EZ-Tn5 transposon and the mutants were inoculated into susceptible grapefruit. Forty mutants with altered virulence phenotypes were identified. Nine of the mutants showed a complete loss of citrus canker induction, and the other 31 mutants resulted in attenuated canker symptoms. Southern blot analysis revealed that each of the mutants carried a single copy of Tn5. The flanking sequence was identified by plasmid rescue and 18 different ORFs were identified in the genome sequence. Of these 18 ORFs, seven had not been previously associated with the virulence of X. citri subsp. citri and were therefore confirmed by complementation analysis. Real-time PCR analysis showed that the seven genes were upregulated when the bacteria were grown in citrus plants, suggesting that the expression of these genes was essential for canker development.

      • Analysis on Clinical Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Patients with Locoregionally Advanced Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

        Zheng, Wei,Xu, Yuan-Ji,Qiu, Su-Fang,Zong, Jing-Feng,Huang, Ling-Ling,Huang, Chao-Bin,Lin, Shao-Jun,Pan, Jian-Ji Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.10

Background: To explore the independent prognostic factors for the recurrence/metastasis of patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC). Materials and Methods: A total of 604 patients initially diagnosed as LANPC by pathohistology in Fujian Provincial Cancer Hospital were selected to analyze the relationship between the clinical pathological patterns, therapeutic protocols and clinical stages with the recurrence/metastasis of LANPC. Results: The 1-, 3- and 5-year locoregionally recurrent rates of LANPC patients were 2.0%, 9.5% and 12.9% respectively, with average recurrent period being 78 months. Univariate analysis results indicated that clinical stages had certain influence on the recurrent period of LANPC patients. However, COX regression models showed that ages, genders and clinical stages were not the independent prognostic factors influencing the recurrence. The 1-, 3- and 5-year metastatic rates of LANPC patients were 6.6%, 17.5% and 18.8% respectively, with average metastatic period of 73 months. Univariate analysis results demonstrated that ages, N stages, clinical stages, locations of lymph node, retropharyngeal lymph node and extracapsular invasion of lymph node had certain influence on the metastatic period of LANPC patients. Additionally, further COX regression analysis results suggested that T stages, reduction protocols and extracapsular invasion of lymph node were the independent prognostic factors influencing the metastasis of patients with LANPC, in which T stages and extracapsular invasion of lymph node were the pestilent factors while reduction protocols the protective factor. Conclusions: Induction chemotherapy is beneficial to LANPC patients with initial treatment, and the metastatic rate decreases greatly after the application of reduction chemotherapy.

      • Gemcitabine Alone or in Combination with Cisplatin for Advanced Biliary Tract Carcinomas: an Overview of Clinical Evidence

Sun, Tian-Tian,Wang, Ji-Lin,Fang, Jing-Yuan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2

Background and Objective: There has been no universally agreed standard chemotherapy regimen for patients with advanced biliary tract carcinomas (BTC). We aimed to fully display and evaluate the clinical evidence for gemcitabine or gemcitabine-cisplatin combination for advanced BTC. Methods: Systematic searches were performed to identify relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and uncontrolled trials. Overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), overall response rates (ORR), tumor control rates (TCR), and toxicity were evaluated. Evidence levels of the results were evaluated with the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Results: Results of the eleven gemcitabine-cisplatin trials and ten gemcitabine trials showed both chemotherapy regimens had benefits with reference to mean OS (8.63 vs. 8.79 months), mean PFS (4.86 vs. 4.72 months), pooled ORR (25.3% vs. 19.6%) and TCR (55.2% vs. 53.1%). Two RCTs showed the gemcitabine-cisplatin combination to prolong the mean PFS (mean difference [MD] 2.57, 95%CI 1.69 3.45), substantially increasing the mean OS (MD 3.59, 95% CI 3.48 3.71), and producing a similar effect in ORR (risk ratio [RR] 1.59, 95%CI 1.04 2.43), increasing TCR (RR 1.15, 95%CI 1.02 1.31) compared with gemcitabine alone, with generally manageable grade 3 or 4 adverse events. The evidence level of OS was moderate, and other outcomes (ORR, PFS, TCR, anaemia, neutropenia) were at low evidence levels. Conclusion: Available evidence was limited with low quality, which showed that both gemcitabine-cisplatin and gemcitabine alone had clinical activity with acceptable safety profiles, and gemcitabine-cisplatin appeared to be more useful for advanced BTC patients than gemcitabine alone.
