고등학교 사회과 다문화 수업 프로그램이 학생들의 간문화적 태도에 미치는 영향 연구

본 연구의 목적은 고등학교 방과후 다문화 수업 프로그램이 학생들의 다문화적 태도, 특히 간문화적 감수성(Intercultural Sensitivity)에 대해 가지는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 연구자는 10시간 분량의 다문화 수업 프로그램을 설계하였다. 그리고 이 다문화 수업 프로그램을 다문화교육에 관심을 가진 서울 소재 사립 고등학교 사회과 교사의 도움을 얻어 개설한 ‘다문화사회 이야기’라는 방과 후 수업에 적용하였다. 연구자가 개발한 다문화 수업 프로그램이 학생들의 간문화적 태도에 변화를 가져왔는지 알아보기 위해 Hammer, Bennett & Wiseman(2003)의 ‘간문화적 발달 측정 척도(Intercultural Development Inventory, IDI)에 기초한 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 설문 자료 분석 결과, 본 연구에 포함된 간문화적 감수성의 하위 영역 4개 중에서 부정/방어(Denial/Defense), 최소화(Minimization) 및 수용/적응(Acceptance/Adaptation)의 3개 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 발견되었다. 이와 같은 결과는 연구자의 다문화 교육 수업 프로그램이 학생들의 다문화적 태도에 긍정적인 변화를 가져온다는 점을 보여줌과 동시에, 현행 사회과 교육과정에 적용가능한 다문화 교육과정의 내용과 방법의 개발에 긍정적인 시사점을 제공하고 있다. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the after-school multicultural lesson, “The Tales of A Multicultural Society” on students’ intercultural sensitivity. Based on the pedagogical model of multicultural education developed by Jho & Park (2009), “the Tales of A Multicultural Society” consisted of 10 instructional lessons (50 minutes per each) and was implemented in a local private girls’ high school in Seoul. The researchers monitored the entire lessons and conducted in-depth interviews with selective students. Then, in order to measure students’ intercultural attitudinal change, the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) survey of 50 items were administered to 40 students twice, on the first day of the course and 4 weeks after the completion of the course. In sum, the study found that overall the multicultural education course the researchers designed had a statistically positive impact on students’ intercultural sensitivity. The findings of the study request for further research and continuous investment on developing multicultural pedagogical knowledge and strategies.

Effect of co-presence of cadmium or procymidone with microplastic films in soil on lettuce growth

Agricultural environment is often contaminated with various chemicals (e.g., pesticides, heavy metals) and microplastics due to the uses of plastic products. The effects of chemical contaminants or microplastics on terrestrial environment have been extensively studied, but the studies on the co-presence of chemical contaminants and microplastics are relatively limited. This study was set to investigate the effect of co-presence of microplastics (i.e., low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) microplastic films) and chemical contaminants (i.e., cadmium (Cd) and procymidone (PCM)) in soil on the lettuce growth and Cd and PCM uptake by lettuce using pot tests. The lettuce leaf lengths were not affected by the presence of only Cd or PCM, but the rates of change in the lettuce leaf number were adversely affected by the presence of PCM. The presence of only LDPE or PVC in soil at the concentrations used in this study did not have significant impacts on the lettuce growth. But the co-presence of Cd and LDPE and the co-presence of PCM and PVC resulted in the negligible increases in the lettuce leaf length and leaf number with time, although the lettuce growths were statistically similar in the Cd- or PCM-contaminated soils regardless of the presence of microplastics. The results suggest that the adverse effects of Cd or PCM can be intensified by the co-presence of microplastics, and the effects can be different depending on the types of microplastics. The promoted adverse effects of chemical contaminants in the co-presence of microplastics can be supported by the tendency of the increased absorption of Cd or PCM by lettuce in the co-presence of microplastics. Overall, this study shows the need for management of both chemical contaminants and microplastics that may reside in the agricultural environment.

Photonic Bandgap Structures with Arrays of Spiral metal Patches

A new type of photonic bandgap(PBG) structures that consist of arrays of spiral metal patches is proposed in this paper. Reflection phases and radiation of these PBG structures are simulated by high frequency structure simulator(HFSS) to characterize their performance. The simulation results show that the resonant frequency of the proposed PBG structures gets significantly lower than those of the PBG structures with square metal patches, but that the radiation is nearly the same for both of the PBG structures. Analysis on reflection phases reveals that the lowering of the resonant frequency is associated with the increase in capacitance.

Symmetric searchable encryption with efficient range query using multi-layered linked chains

<P>Searchable encryption is an encryption system which provides confidentiality of stored documents and usability of document search at the same time. Remote cloud storage is the most typical application for searchable encryption. By applying searchable encryption, inside attacks can be prevented fundamentally. Designing searchable encryption which supports various queries-for example, range query, conjunctive keyword query, etc.-is also important for convenience. In this paper, we focus on range query problem. Up to now, only a few results have been proposed, in which the main functions are constructed using public key cryptosystems. Therefore, the amount of computations for encryption and search is large. Furthermore, search time depends on the size of the entire database. We propose a new searchable encryption protocol which is based on a symmetric key encryption and linked chain structure instead of public key-based techniques. The main contribution of the protocol is reducing the computation cost for search remarkably. In reality, the amount of computations depends on the number of documents that are matched to a query instead of the size of the entire database.</P>

Two Perspectives on the Study of the Effect of School Structure on Social Studies Classroom Practices : 선행연구검토

(학교의 내부적-행정적 구조가 사회과 교육 정책의 실행에 중요한 맥락을 제공한다는 가정을 출발점으로) 본 연구의 목적은 학교 구조와 사회과 교실 수업 행위의 관계를 규정하는 두 가지 관점을 검토하는 것에 있다. 학교 구조와 사회과 교실 개혁에 관한 미국의 선행 연구 검토를 통하여, 본 연구에서는 "학교 구조가 사회과 교사들의 교육과정 결정-교수 행위와 어떠한 연관을 가지고 있는가?"라는 일관적인 질문에 답하려고 하였다. 요약하면, 본 연구는 다음과 같은 결론에 이르게 되었다. 첫째, 학교 조직에 대한 이완적 결합(loose coupling)의 관점, 특히 이 중에서도 이완적이고 단단한 결합 요인들이 다양한 형태를 보이며 동시적으로 존재한다(various patterns of simultaneous looser and tighter coupling dimensions)는 관점은 학교의 내부 상황을 기술하고, 그것이 사회과 교실 행위에 미치는 영향을 이해하는 데에 유용한 분석들이 되어 주고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교 구조에 대한 단단한 결합의 관점을 바탕으로 하는 다양한 구조적 개혁들이 가시적인 변화들을 가져오기는 했지만, 대부분의 학교 구조 개혁들은 사회과 교실 수업의 일반적인 행태에 대한 실제적이고 지속적이 변화로 이어지지는 못했음이 드러났다. 이와 같은 구조 개혁과 사회과 교실 수업 행위간의 미약한 관계는 역으로 기존의 학교 내부적-행정적 구조가 교사들의 학교 수업에 미치는 강한 영향력을 말해주고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 교실 수업의 실질적-지속적인 변화외 근본 요건은 바로 학교 구성원 간의 교육 목표에 대해 공유된 가치-신념, 교육과정-교수 문제에 관한 견해 차이와 갈등 문제들에 대한 구성원 간의 계속적인 의사 소통, 그리고 이에 대한 프로그램적인 지원을 바탕으로 하는 학교 문화의 형성이라는 사실이 입증되었다. 현재 계속되고 있는 한국 사회과 교실 개혁의 움직임에 대하여 본 연구가 시사하는 바는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회과 교육 개혁은 학교 현장에 대한 보다 엄격한 기술과 분석을 출발점으로 삼아야 한다. 둘째, 교사의 자율성에 대한 새로운 이해가 요구된다. 즉, 전문가로서의 교사의 위치를 구성하는 자율성의 개념이 일련의 구조적 개혁들이 가져오는 다양한 정책적-행정적 조정과 통제들을 통하여 어떻게 변화하고 있는지 생각해 보고, 보다 바람직한 교사 자율성의 개념은 무엇인지 탐구해 보아야 한다. 마지막으로, 교육 개혁의 참여자들은 "과연 누구의 관점-준거(criteria)가 암묵적으로 교육 개혁을 지배하고 있는가?"에 대하여 분명히 인식할 필요가 있다. Under the assumption that the school structure constitutes an important context for policy implementation, this paper attempted to incorporate an international perspective on educational change. into the current discussion of the Korean social studies instruction. By analyzing the American literature on school structure, school reform, and social studies instruction, this study suggested several answers to the question, "How is the school structure associated with social studies teachers' curricular and instructional' practices?" This study suggests the importance of the proper description of the internal process of the school. It also reveals that structural innovations did not necessarily lead to substantial changes in social studies practices, but rather, shared pedagogical goals and beliefs among school members, the programmatic focus on resolving fundamental curricular and instructional questions, and professional communication were crucial factors of successful stories in social studies classrooms. This study implies that educational reforms are vulnerable to a disparity in the reform criteria between reformers and local practitioners, and subject to potential tensions between teacher autonomy and administrative control.

Fabrication of in-situ Fiber Composite from Thermotropic Poly(ester amide) and Polycarbonate

열방향성 poly(ester amide) (상품명 Vectra)와 열가소성 polycarbonate(상품명 Lexan)로부터 장섬유 복합재료를 제조하였다. 액정고분자인 Vectra는 낮은 용융점도로 인해 가공조제인 동시 복합재료의 분산상으로 사용되었으며, 장섬유를 형성할 경우 높은 탄성률로 인해 보강재의 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대되었다. Vectra가 장섬유를 형성할 수 있는 재료 및 압출성형의 인자들을 체계적으로 조사하였으며, 그 결과로부터 섬유상의 형성과정을 유추, 제안하였다.

Prevalence and Associated Factors of Anxiety and Depressive Symptoms Among Bereaved Family Members of Cancer Patients in Korea : A Nation-Wide Cross-Sectional Study

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Bereaved family members of cancer patient are at risk of having psychological problems such as anxiety and depression. However, prevalence and associated factors of anxiety and depressive symptoms among this population have not been explored in Korea.</P><P>We conducted a nation-wide cross-sectional questionnaire survey of 3522 bereaved family members of cancer patients who died at 44 hospice palliative care unit (HPCU) in Korea in 2012. The questionnaire comprised the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Good Death Inventory (GDI). Deceased patient's age, sex, primary site of cancer, duration of stay at HPCU, awareness of terminal status, bereaved family member's age, sex, and relation to the deceased were collected from Korean Terminal Cancer Patients Information System.</P><P>1121 returned questionnaires were analyzed (response rate, 31.8%). Using a cut-off value of 8 for HADS subscale, the prevalence of anxiety and depressive symptoms was 48.0% and 57.6%, respectively. Mean scores for HADS-A and HADS-D were 7.88 ± 4.87 and 8.91 ± 4.82, respectively. Among the bereaved, older age, being a spouse to the deceased, family members of younger patient, and negative score for a few GDI items were significantly associated with an increased risk of having anxiety or depressive symptoms in the multivariate logistic analysis.</P><P>In conclusion, we noted the high prevalence of anxiety and depressive symptoms among the bereaved of cancer patients and identified associated factors for these psychological morbidities. Systematic efforts are needed to improve the mental health of the bereaved family members of cancer patients.</P>
