        A Study on User Interface Design According to 3D Menu Type and Control Type for 3D Displays

        Objective: We proposed an effective 3D menu manipulation alternative with a usability test. This was performed in a 3D environment with 3D menu and control manipulation methods. Background: As 3D stereoscopic displays became generalized, various 3D applications were being used not just movies, games, but also mobile contents and advertisements. However, when a user interface was designed in a 3D environment, it was lacked that a clear standard and result of an efficiency and usability as like a 2D environment. Method: We implemented 9 kinds of 3D menu types based on 3D menu hierarchies, menu layouts and dimensions. And we extracted 3 representative control types in a 3D environment. We performed usability evaluation with full factorial design for 27 menu alternatives with 2 types of menu manipulation tasks. In this condition, we measured the performance time, subjective discomfort and eye-fatigue. Results: A control type had the significant effect, and the effect of menu types had the different result depending on given tasks. Conclusion: This experiment showed the interaction of menu and control types depended on 3D menu manipulation tasks were significant in a 3D user interface design. Therefore, as a purpose of a 3D menu manipulation task, 3D menu types and control types were should be considered. Application: We supposed this result was should be applied in a 3D menu contents design.

        Which Country is the Most Sustainable Trade Partner for Latin America –Korea, Japan, or China?

        The goal of this study is to build an index that reflects how sustainable trade relationships between East Asia and Latin America have changed over time, to evaluate the current state of trade relations, and identify challenges to be addressed to guarantee the sustainability of trade between these regions. First, we select nine variables that correspond to key economic, social, and environmental pillars. Second, we convert the variables into the Trade Relations Sustainability Index (TRSI). The main findings are as follows: First, the average value of the TRSI between East Asia and Latin America follows a U-shaped pattern over time. Second, China has been the most sustainable trading partner for Latin America over the period studied. Third, the variables that most influence the TRSI are the export diversification index, share of polluting product exports, and trade costs. Lastly, Argentina has been the most sustainable partner for East Asia.

      • A posteriori error estimation via mode-based finite element formulation using deep learning

        In this paper, we propose a new concept for error estimation in finite element solutions, which we call mode-based error estimation. The proposed error estimation predicts a posteriori error calculated by the difference between the direct finite element (FE) approximation and the recovered FE approximation. The mode-based FE formulation for the recently developed self-updated finite element is employed to calculate the recovered solution. The formulation is constructed by searching for optimal bending directions for each element, and deep learning is adopted to help find the optimal bending directions. Through various numerical examples using four-node quadrilateral finite elements, we demonstrate the improved predictive capability of the proposed error estimator compared with other competitive methods.

        해외원조가 글로벌가치사슬을 통해 생산기지비교우위에 미친 영향 분석

        본 연구는 공적개발원조(ODA)가 총수출이 아닌 부가가치로 측정한 생산기지비교우위에 미친 영향을 실증분석하였다. 캄보디아, 인도네시아, 라오스, 말레이시아, 미얀마, 필리핀, 태국, 베트남의 ASEAN 8개국을 대상으로 OECD 부가가치 기준 무역 자료와 Wang et al.(2013)의 총수출 분해방법론을 적용하였으며, 전체 ODA의 효과뿐만 아니라 무역 정책 및 규제 ODA, 경제 인프라 ODA, 생산성 ODA가 생산기지비교우위에 미치는 영향도 각각 분석하였다. The objective of this paper accounts for the effect of foreign aid, which is measured by Official Development Assistance (ODA), on the comparative advantage of production base based on value-added, not gross exports. By using the OECD Trade in Value-Added Database and the decomposition methodology developed by Wang et al. (2013), this paper captures the amount of value-added created by the 8 ASEAN countries, which are Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, and empirically analyzes the effects of 4 different types of foreign aid, which are total ODA, ODA for trade policies and regulations, ODA for economic infrastructure, and ODA for production capacity

        This paper describes a new interactive inverter between a photovoltaic(PV) array and single-utility that avoid the bulky input (60Hz) transformer on the AC side The interface employs a pwm boost converter on the DC slde followed by a pwm current-forced single-phase rectifier for injecting the power from the PV array into the mains. The current waveform at the AC side remains sinusoidal and exactly in phase at all time. The circuit also has the advantage of requiring fewer switching device than high-frequency link system. This paper describes modeling of PV array and new system topology Simulation results on the performance of the connection are also presented

        A Cross-cultural Study on the Affection of Color with Variation of Tone and Chroma for Automotive Visual Display

        Objective:The objective of this study is to evaluate affection on how users perceive colors viewed from an automotive visual display according to cultural and radical differences including North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. This study especially aims to identify effects of the variation of tone and chroma of representative color groups by analyzing affection differences depending on cultural and racial differences targeting the colors constituted through variation of tone and chroma, centered on representative colors. Background: The colors of the menu, information display or background viewed through an automotive visual display are an important factor stimulating consumer"s affection, and therefore an effort to express the vehicle"s brand and product image through colors is made. The studies on colors focus only on the research on unique characteristics of colors, but an affective approach lacks according to cultural and racial differences on colors considering tone and chroma variation within a color from the currently used automotive visual displays. Method: To grasp the visual affection felt by users, this study extracted affective adjectives related with colors through existing literature and a dictionary for adjectives, and presented human affection dimensions on colors through evaluation of various colors. Prior to carrying out affection evaluation, the basic light sources, red (R), green (G), and blue (B) constituting the colors used for automotive visual displays were defined as a representative color group, respectively. When colors in a color group are constituted, the evaluation target of each color group consisted of the colors considering the variation of tone and chroma by changing color sense through RGB values of the remaining two light sources. And then, this study carried out affection evaluation on the constituted colors targeting the subjects with cultural and racial differences. Results: As a result of evaluating the constituted colors with representative affections, there were statistically significant differences between the groups having cultural and racial differences. As a result of S-N-K post-hoc analysis on the colors showing significant differences, North America and Europe were classified as heterogeneous groups. In some cases, Korea was classified as the homogeneous group with North America, but Korea was mainly classified as the homogenous group with Europe. Conclusion: The representative affections on colors from an automotive visual display was drawn as three affective dimensions: passionate, neat, and masculine. Based on these, the affection of Korea and Europe on the constituted colors showed significant differences from that of North America, as a result of affection evaluation on the constituted colors viewed through the visual display by reflecting cultural and racial factors. Regarding representative color groups, bigger cultural and racial differences were revealed in terms of affection on red and green colors than on blue color, and variation of affection was the biggest in the red color. Application: This study analyzed correlations of affection considering the colors constituted through variation of tone and chroma, and the culture and race in the representative color groups constituting a visual display. The results of this study are predicted to be utilized in coordination and selection of colors viewed from an automotive visual display taking into account culture and race.

        화장품 광고의 감성소구 유형 - ‘신뢰’와 결합하는 기본 감정과 이중 감정을 중심으로

        본 연구는 광고의 호소 기능 차원에서 화장품 광고의 감성소구 방식과 감정들의 결합 과정을살펴본다. 감성소구적 광고의 분석을 위해 섬세한 감정 분류가 필요하기에 감정을 범주화하여모델로 제시한 플럭칙의 ‘감정 바퀴’를 활용한다. 화장품 광고를 보면 하나의 감정으로 수신자의감성을 자극하는 것이 아니라 여러 기본 감정들이 등장하고 이들의 결합으로 이중 감정을 형성한다. 본 연구에서는 기능성 화장품 광고의 핵심 요소인 ‘Vertrauen’을 중심으로 이와 결합하는기본 감정들과 이러한 기본 감정들의 결합을 통해 형성되는 이중 감정에 대해서 분석하고 광고의 감성호소 전략을 상세히 기술한다. 화장품 광고에서 ‘Vertrauen’과 결합하는 기본 감정은 주로 ‘Freude’와 ‘Angst’, ‘Erwartung’이고, 이들 기본 감정의 결합으로 형성되는 이중 감정에는‘Liebe’, ‘Unterordnung’, ‘Hoffnung’ 등이 있다. 화장품 광고에서 나타나는 감정 결합 방식을살펴봄으로써 전략적 측면에서 화장품 광고의 감성소구의 지향점을 파악할 수 있다. 화장품 광고에서는 단순한 감성소구가 아닌 복합적인 이중 감정들이 지면 광고에 비해 더 활발히 나타난다.
