Background: Hemangioma is the most common benign hepatic tumor. Many hepatic hemangiomas tend to be found incidentally, but should be differentiated from malignant tumors. We report an interesting case of hepatic hemangioma in patient who has high risks of hepatocellular carcinoma. Case: A 52-year-old woman, who was a chronic alcoholic abuser and hepatitis C virus carrier with no treatment experience, was admitted due to diarrhea. The patient had suffered from intermittent abdominal pain in the right subcostal area for recent 3 months. Also the patient had easy bruising and frequent epistaxis. She had used oral contraceptives for almost 20 years. Systolic blood pressure was 160 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure was 80 mmHg. Body temperature was normal. Physical examination revealed icteric sclerae and tenderness in right upper quadrant of the abdomen. Laboratory study showed platelet count of 31,000/ul, AST/ALT of 302/127 IU/L, and total bilirubin of 2.7 mg/dl. 3-phased contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography (CT) revealed a 4 cm × 4 cm sized hepatic mass involving both segment 5 and 6. Abdominal CT finding suggested hepatic hemangioma, however, typical finding of hemagioma was unclear, therefore, could not rule out the malignancy. Since she had risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma, abdominal ultrasonography was performed for further evaluation. But abdominal ultrasonography also showed atypical finding. The confirmative diagnosis could be done by dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using primovist®, which is an innovative liver cell-specific contrast medium. Dynamic MRI presented peripheral globular enhancement and a centripetal fill-in pattern, confirmatory findings of hepatic hemangioma, on the delayed image. The patient got relief from abdominal pain and diarrhea during admission, now is being followed-up at a general out-patient clinics. Conclusions: Hemangiomas with atypical abdominal CT and ultrasonographic findings in patients with high risks of hepatocellular carcinoma can be easily characterized with primovist-enhanced dynamic MRI.

Highly polycrystalline copper indium diselenide (CuInSe2, CIS) thin films were deposited on glass or ITO glass substrates by two-stage metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) at relatively mild conditions, using Cuand In/Se-containing precursors. First, pure Cu thin film was prepared on glass or ITO glass substrates by using a single-source precursor, bis(ethylbutyrylacetate)copper(II) or bis(ethylisobutyrylacetato)copper(II). Second, on the resulting Cu films, tris(N,N-ethylbutyldiselenocarbamato)indium(III) was treated to produce CuInSe2 films by MOCVD method at 400 ${^{\circ}C}$. These precursors are very stable in ambient conditions. In our process, it was quite easy to obtain high quality CIS thin films with less impurities and uniform thickness. Also, it was found that it is easy to control the stoichiometric ratio of relevant elements on demands, leading to Cu or In rich CIS thin films. These CIS films were analyzed by XRD, SEM, EDX, and Near-IR spectroscopy. The optical band gap of the stoichiometric CIS films was about 1.06 eV, which is within an optimal range for harvesting solar radiation energy.

Park, Jae-Young,Park, Jong-Pil,Hwang, Cha-Hwan,Kim, Ji-Eon,Choi, Myoung-Ho,Ok, Kang-Min,Kwak, Ho-Young,Shim, Il-Wun Korean Chemical Society 2009 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.30 No.11
$CuInS_{2}$ nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple sonochemical method; First, Cu nanoparticles were prepared from $CuInS_{2}$ in methanol solution by a one pot reaction through the sonochemistry under multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL) conditions. Second, the resulting Cu nanoparticles were treated with $InCl_3{\cdot}4H_2O$</TEx> and $CH_3CSNH_2$ (thioacetamide) at the same MBSL conditions to synthesize $In_2S_3$-coated Cu nanoparticles in methanol solution. Then, they were transformed into $CuInS_{2}$ (CIS) nanoparticles of 20 $\sim$ 40 nm size in diameter by thermal heating at 300 ${^{\circ}C}$ for 2 hr. The prepared CIS nanoparticles, of which band gap is 1.44 eV, were investigated by X-ray diffractometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, inductively coupled plasma spectrometer, and high resolution-transmission electron microscope.

Park, Chi Kwon,Lee, Gi Sub,Lee, Ju Young,Kyun, Myung Ok,Lee, Won Jae,Shin, Byoung Chul,Nishino, Shigehiro Trans Tech Publications, Ltd. 2007 Materials science forum Vol.556 No.-
<P>A sublimation epitaxial method, referred to as the Closed Space Technique (CST) was adopted to produce thick SiC epitaxial layers for power device applications. In this study, we aimed to systematically investigate surface morphologies and electrical properties of SiC epitaxial layers grown with varying a SiC/Al ratio in a SiC source powder during the sublimation growth using the CST method. It was confirmed that the acceptor concentration of epitaxial layer was continuously decreased with increasing the SiC/Al ratio. The blue light emission was successfully observed on a PN diode structure fabricated with the p-type SiC epitaxial layer. Furthermore, 4H-SiC MESFETs having a micron-gate length were fabricated using a lithography process and their current-voltage performances were characterized.</P>

Separation of pesticides and other chemical contaminants from fatty food matrices prior to subsequent steps in the analytical process remains a challenging issue, and much effort has been invested to further enhance this method. The aim of the present study was to develop a simple multi-residue method involving a quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) extraction method for the identification and quantification of 41 pesticide residues in cooked fatty food matrices, including heated soybean oil, roasted sesame, and boiled soybean using gas chromatography-micro/electron capture detector (GC-${\mu}ECD$). The analytes were subsequently confirmed via GC-mass spectrometry (MS). The responses of analytes were linear with excellent correlation coefficients ($r^2$) ranging from 0.993 to 1.000 (calculated from absolute peak areas). For the majority of the tested pesticides, the mean recoveries ranged from 68.5 and 121.4% with relative standard deviations ranging from 0.4 to 18.7%. Instrument limits of detection and quantification ranged from 0.004 to $0.30{\mu}g/kg$ and 0.0125 to $1.00{\mu}g/kg$, respectively. The developed method presented in this study was applied successfully to determine pesticide residue levels in cooked fatty food matrices. None of the samples contained detectable amounts of pesticide residues.

Park, Jong-Pil,Kim, Sin-Kyu,Park, Jae-Young,Ok, Kang-Min,Shim, Il-Wun Korean Chemical Society 2009 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.30 No.1
A new Zn/O single source precursor, TMEDA-Zn$(eacac)_2$, has been synthesized by using N, N, N’, N’-tetramethylethylendiamine (TMEDA), sodium ethyl-acetoacetate, and $ZnCl_2$. From this organometallic precursor, ZnO thin films have been successfully grown on Si (100) substrates through the metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method at relatively mild conditions in the temperature range of 390~430 ${^{\circ}C}$. The synthesized ZnO films have been found to possess average grain sizes of about 70 nm with an orientation along the c-axis. The precursor and ZnO films are characterized through infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, EI-FAB-spectroscopy, elemental analyses, thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, and field emission scanning electron microscopic analyses.
