Background: The Hounsfi eld unit (HU) of CT is related to the composition of the tissue and is used to represent the density of tissue. The HU of the gallbladder (GBHU) varies with the viscosity of bile and ranges from 0 to 20. Methods: We compared GBHU on CT according to biliary diseases as stone (group A), sludge (group B), and functional biliary disease (group C). The patients of three groups who had acute biliary symptom underwent ENBD or PTBD with bile analysis for one year were identifi ed retrospectively. We analyzed the HU of gallbladder with three parameters [point at upper 1/2 (GBHU-A), at lower 1/2 (GBHU-B), ratio of B/A (GBHU-R), not stone itself]. Results: Of the 164 patients in our study, stone in CBD or GB was seen in 99 patients and sludges in 50 patients and functional biliary disease in 15. 40 patients were post-cholecystectomy state. Mean age was 61.9 ± 16.5 in group A, 59.7 ± 12.3 in group B, and 56.0 ± 14.3 in group C (not signifi cant. Mean GBHU-A was 13.1 ± 11.0 in group A, 12.1 ± 5.5 in group B, and 20.7 ± 10.4 in group C and showed mild difference between group B and group C (p=0.51, not signifi cant). Mean GBUH-B was 18.4 ± 14.0, 24.3 ± 9.1, and 21.6 ± 10.9, respectively and no difference was seen between the groups. Mean GBHU-R was 1.56 ± 0.85, 2.28 ± 0.89, and 1.03 ± 0.15, respectively and signifi cant differences were seen between group A and B (p=0.000), between group B and C (p=0.000). Conclusions: The sludge disease showed higher GBHU-B than GBHU-A Functional biliary disease showed that both GBHU-A and GBHU-B were at high levels and showed higher GBHU-A than that in stone and sludge disease.

<P>Al2O3 films deposited by remote plasma atomic layer deposition have been used for thin film encapsulation of organic light emitting diode. In this study, a multi-density layer structure consisting of two Al2O3 layers with different densities are deposited with different deposition conditions of O-2 plasma reactant time. This structure improves moisture permeation barrier characteristics, as confirmed by a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) test. The lowest WVTR of the multi-density layer structure was 4.7 x 10(-5) gm(-2) day(-1), which is one order of magnitude less than WVTR for the reference single-density Al2O3 layer. This improvement is attributed to the location mismatch of paths for atmospheric gases, such as O-2 and H2O, in the film due to different densities in the layers. This mechanism is analyzed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy, elastic recoil detection, and angle resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. These results confirmed that the multi-density layer structure exhibits very good characteristics as an encapsulation layer via location mismatch of paths for H2O and O-2 between the two layers. <P>Ordering and orientation of high-molecular-weight (HMW) block copolymer (BCP) are challenging issues for recent technology to push the limit of nanoscopic size to hundredsof-nanometers scale. HMW polystyrene-b-poly(methyl methacrylate)s (PS-b-PMMAs) were used to actualize larger feature sizes of giant lamellar and gyroid (GYR) nanostructures. The solvent vapor annealing (SVA) process was exploited to develop the long-range order nanostructures in the HMW BCP films. Directed orientation of nanostructures and the defect annihilation are discussed in terms of the interfacial interactions on the substrates and topographic trenches to design well-defined regular nanopatterns.</P>

Currently, in order to increase its applicability, a micro-system has been expanded to various areas such as micro fluidics. Among them a micro-pump is required to deliver the fluid without overflow, which can be possible only with consistent surface of the micro-channels. In general, the applications of the etching process in MEMS are restricted to the silicon-based materials and it is very difficult to obtain the required surface roughness. Micro-machining, however, makes it possible to produce the various surface roughness with controls of spindle, feed rate, and depth of cut, etc. In this paper, the characteristics of the micro-milling process has been investigated to generate the micro-channels with different materials such as aluminium and copper, etc.
Comfort Evaluation of Operating Position to Define Appropriate Seat Travel in Excavator

Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the operating position of excavator operator through virtual assessment and to define appropriate seat travel in excavator. Background: In the case of excavator development, position of primary controllers and seat are most important to determine the operating position. Especially, seat position and adjustment range (Travel) make operator seat where they want to. Operating with comfortable posture reduces fatigue of operator, and improves productivity. Therefore, seat position and adjustment range are first considering point to development of excavator. Method: To define appropriate seat travel: (1) Select representative human model to represent all operators, (2) Define basic operating posture to represent all operating postures, (3) Evaluate comfortability of basic operating postures, (4) Define comfort operating position with respect to each operator’s H-point (Hip point), (5) Define seat position and adjustment range with respect to comfort seating positions for all representative human models. Results: Operating position of each representative human model with comfort is found. And it is possible to define the minimum requirement of seat travel which makes all representative human models seat where they want to. Conclusion: We define basic operating postures in excavator. Through comfort evaluation for basic operating posture, we can find operating positions of each of representative human model. From the position, we can define the minimum requirement of seat travel for all representative human models. Application: This study is expected to be applied in defining seat position and travel range for development of new excavator. And position of primary controller and range of hand movement are defined with comfortable operating position. Also position and direction of gauge panel are defined with considering field of vision of operators.
건축물의 노후도 및 연면적을 고려한 건축물의 내진보강비용 추정

이 연구에서는 현실적이고 유의미한 내진보강비용 산정하기 위해 실제 내진보강 사례를 기반으로 통계분석을 수행하여 건축물의 노후도와 연면적을 고려한 보다 현실적인 내진보강 비용을 추정하는 연구를 수행하였다. 데이터 베이스를 기반으로 노후도에 따라 연면적 대한 내진보강비용을 통계적으로 분석하여 이를 정규화하였고, 역으로 연면적과 준공연도를 가지고 내진보강공사비용을 역추산할 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다.. 지속적인 내진보강 사업 사례의 빅데이터화가 이루어지면 정확성이 높은 내진보강 비용 산정이 실현될 것으로 판단된다.

본 논문에서는 실시간으로 빛의 편광상태(SOP)를 파악할 수 있는 장치를 소개한다. 소개하는 장치는 광파를 수평 선형편광과 수직 선형편광 성분으로 분리하고, 각각을 기준 광원의 수평 선형편광 및 수직 선형편광 성분들과 중첩시키고 이로부터 발생한 비트신호들을 시간 영역에서 측정하여 비교함으로써 광파의 SOP를 파악해 내는 순방향(feed-forward) 측정 시스템으로서 귀환(feedback) 방식을 이용하는 기존의 방식들에 비해 SOP 측정시간을 실시간으로 단축시키는 장점을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 또한 SOP 측정 과정에서 수반될 수 있는 광소자의 복굴절 변화에 의한 측정 오차를 매우 간편하고 정확하게 제거할 수 있는 새로운 오차 보정 방식을 소개한다. 제안하는 시스템의 동작과 성능을 모의실험 및 광학 실험을 통해 입증하였다. In this paper, we introduce a real-time state-of-polarization (SOP) finding system. The system divides the optical wave into linear horizontal- and vertical-SOP components and measures two different beat-signals, which are produced by superposition with reference optical source, in time domain. From these measured beat signals we can get SOP information of the signal instantly. Since the proposed scheme is a feed-forward measurement system, comparing with conventional systems which require an optical feedback loop, the measurement time becomes reduced tremendously. We also introduced a novel calibration method for compensating birefringence-related errors which may occur during the measurement. We prove the operation and performance of the proposed system through computer simulation and actual experiments.

Recently, regulations on the environment and fuel efficiency of automobiles have been tightened. The global automotive industry is trying to reduce the weight while expanding the turbocharger engine in response to this regulation. The turbocharger is inevitably hot because it uses exhaust gases to pump the air required for engine combustion. Therefore, for hoses fitted to the turbocharger inlet and outlet, the heat resistance performance of air intake hose is paramount. This paper predicted the thermal life of the air intake hose fitted to the turbocharger inlet based on Arrhenius equation, warranty and regional environment.
